Negatory, this is not the legendary Ben Lumsdaine. He has the cool of a seasoned jazz veteran. He has jazz in his veins (and plays mean classic rock also).
The Best part of this song is the begging of the guitar solo when the drummer actually starts playing. Also this song is way to slow. If you play slower there should be no excuse for the simple mistakes. Also being a drummer I would practice different fills, for the breaks instead of the same ones over and over again.
Hey this is alright but your lead trumpet needs to be better. Intonations in the upper range especially. Also the tempo needs to be faster. Don't play Maynard if you can't bust it out.
I show my love to Stockhouse and her Adv. Jazz Band. This is David Kim if you ever wonder who the hell I am...graduated from BHSN in 2006. I stil keep thinking about all the fun I had back in the jazz band!
Oh and one more thing, trumpets learn to use your air to play those high notes because that's what really makes all those loud parts sound great. It also seemed like everyone was holding back a bit on the loud parts. When those come up, blast it, because that's what it's supposed to be. Garden City High School Jazz 1, my high school, was asked to open for Wichita State University's Jazz Band because of there skill & great work and that has never been done by any other high school.
Guitar solo was really good, in 2005 my high school played this and the drummer was a sophomore and he was the best there then just because he learned how to do drumming techniques so fast and his drum solo went for a hell of a lot longer than that. When the drummer from my high school played he was doing one handed rolls, making up random beats right then and there and just whatever else. I'm trying not to be real critical about it because it wasn't bad but I mean come on, have fun with it.
Swinging tempo! Good work from the drummer. Nice ad-lib backings in the solo. Alto player- move your own mike- makes you look more in charge. Speaking as a baritone player I thought all the saxes get a solo- its not just the usual alto/tenor combo. baritone player- your doing what i used to do- the bass line doesn't need to be that heavy. Good work!
Constructive criticism: Need a lead trumpet who can consistantly play a high E to pull this song off. Otherwise the band sound is great, and time was better than the last HS band I heard play it.
meh. wayyy to slow

Great job; I played Bass on this chart in my high school Jazz band in 1997. Hearing this brings back memories.
