I think he was just one of those people who took criticism, especially in regards to his appearance, VERY close to heart. It's just so sad. Some people can just shake some of that stuff off, others just get bogged down by it.

Michael felt everything about his life and the world very, very deeply, so it is no surprise he would have felt intense hurt about the criticism about his looks. That depth of feeling was both the source of much of his heartache - and what inspired such incredible music that touched all of our hearts so deeply.
I wouldn't jump to conclusions about MJ actually thinking that he looks like a lizard although I know he said it. Agree mother nature was good to him - the features, the body, the voice, the dancing - but don't forget that he also had vitiligo from mother nature and Joe Jackson as a father. All I am trying to say is that he didn't have it that easy.
I think the entire Jackson family has really good genes, because they are all very beautiful people. The exception being that of the patriarch with his personality issues.
It also helps to be of mixed ancestry too. In one way or another we are all mixed with something right? ; ) Michael is very special indeed. He is music in the flesh, and he didn't look like anybody else.

I think he was just one of those people who took criticism, especially in regards to his appearance, VERY close to heart. It's just so sad. Some people can just shake some of that stuff off, others just get bogged down by it.

Arienhm: I agree with you. Some people can just let criticism roll right off of them. But others carry that it in their head and heart their entire lives. Michael felt everything about his life and the world very, very deeply, so it is no surprise he would have felt intense hurt about the criticism about his looks. That depth of feeling was both the source of much of his heartache - and what inspired such incredible music that touched all of our hearts so deeply.

When I heard MJ referring to himself as looking like
a lizard, he was talking about how bad he eventually
came to look from all the surgery. Not when he was
young. When he was young his father tormented him
about being an ugly teen with pimples, and I guess MJ
believed it...unfortunately because it wasn't at all
true. MJ had one of the most beautiful faces of all
time. Mother Nature was truley good to MJ, in every
way.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions about MJ actually thinking that he looks like a lizard although I know he said it. Agree mother nature was good to him - the features, the body, the voice, the dancing - but don't forget that he also had vitiligo from mother nature and Joe Jackson as a father. All I am trying to say is that he didn't have it that easy.

I think the entire Jackson family has really good genes, because they are all very beautiful people. The exception being that of the patriarch with his personality issues.
It also helps to be of mixed ancestry too. In one way or another we are all mixed with something right? ; ) Michael is very special indeed. He is music in the flesh, and he didn't look like anybody else.
