  • When does the kick ass solo start? Next video?

  • aburrido

    bored

  • He is a crappy drummer and is ruled by Steven. He will never be a "Neil Peart or Alex Van Halen". I bumped into him in Montreal and he turned out to be a perfect classless unfriendly asshole. This guy has a problem and his book sucks. Grow up Joey.

  • I really like it !

  • Dig the cow bell

  • Joey you're amazin' baby!

  • Comment removed

  • Shut up Steven! You can share the spot light for a few minutes!

  • is not a drums solo

  • @theunknowndrunk Yeah, tom hamilton is probably one of the nicest people i've ever had the pleasure of meeting! As was Steven and even Brad was friendly! Joey Kramer was aloof and didn't say much, but he signed my tee and gave me a free signed copy of his book - which is just quite alot of whinging and whining on paper!

    Joe Perry invented cool!

  • Terrible drummer for a terrible band...lol.

  • @DarkCloud1966 fuck u, this band rocks!!

  • what makes this a "kickass solo" ?

  • Props on the annotations about the ball. Other than the drumming, that was the best part of this!

  • This is lame, much of the sounds are pre-recorded. I met Joey Kramer when he warmed up in my studio before a gig and he was one of the biggest assholes I've ever met in the business. He was so rude to his roadie, etc. I asked if he could just sign my drum heads after he was done and he looked at me like I was something he stepped in. I left and when he was done the sharpie was on the floor, no autograph, no class. On the flip side, Tom Hamilton was the nicest coolest guy you'd ever want to meet.

  • "You stupid jerks, cant believe you could be so cruel... and especially YOU joey kramer"

  • Well

  • Ahhh... I wanted to hear "Walk this Way" :(

  • kramer = the legend

get your wings = his realm

  • Drums is not a race, is not "speed" (wow he´s so fast! ... bullshit). Drums is rhythm, technic and feeling! Joey is one of the best drummers in the WORLD!

  • I just ran into Joey in Austin, really nice guy.

  • I don´t really think you can call it a "drum solo" It´s just a little grooving before walk this way. They´re usually doing it. Sometimes Joey is making grooves. Sometimes Joe is scratching bullshit on the guitar. They´re a band, they´re humans and not studied machines like Simon Phillips or John Petrucci. None of them is a solo musicians. .. The whole shit is fucking awesome not only one person. Aerosmith rules!

  • for anyone who is saying they are better than joey, id like to see you write something that grooves that hard. hard to sit still to that

  • the solo joey did during last year tour was AMAZING

  • One other thing, since i couldn't put it all in one comment. Considering the band used to MAKE him do solos and he didnt want to should tell anyone enough, cause that only means back when he threw down hard on what ive heard, he probably wouldn't even doing all he could do.

  • Seriously, Kramer IS underrated. If you go back and find some bootlegs of Aerosmith from the 70s, it'll make any drummer say "WTF?" The thing that makes Kramer the top drummer, in my opinion of course, is that I've heard some of the stuff he can do, he could blow just about any drummer out of the water, but he doesnt flaunt it and want to show off, he plays what he feels. That's why Aerosmith will always rule, it's not about being the best, it's about doing what you love.

  • @radpcdrums He's might better than you think. Sure, there are plenty of drummers out there who are better than Kramer, but he is skilled and precise to say the least. Some of his drum solos from the 90's are kind of impressive, but overall a bit above average. A damn good drummer and very underrated. Deserves a bit more credit.

  • @RockerForLife74 think about this....how many drummers do u no tht are almost 60 that can do that?

  • @radpcdrums If you really were "better" than him, you wouldn't need to brag about it.

  • @radpcdrums

maybe you are better than him but HE'S PLAYING IN AEROSMITH not YOU.

  • @radpcdrums you couldn't write or contribute any of the bad-ass beats he's done through the years

  • @radpcdrums If you have never listened to Rock in a Hard Place do it. The drum parts he wrote on that album flow like silk through your ears.

  • @radpcdrums Fancy pants?

  • Oh yeah, and I met him, and asked him what his warm up routine was like, and he said it was the first few songs, sure enough he dropped a total of three sticks in the first minutes of the show!! He should of warmed up properly, but in the end looked like an ass!

  • That was a called a drum solo?? Haha he sucks!!

  • @NickNoRtHeRnLiGhTs you suck

  • @NickNoRtHeRnLiGhTs Since you say that, it shows how stupid you are. If you don't understand how amazing this man is, you don't know drumming. He's increadibly talented, and one of my many influences...if only you knew how great he was.

  • @NickNoRtHeRnLiGhTs you suck

  • @aeroforceone100 Orlando 2001

  • Kramer is not a chop hound. He Grooves, go visit a Dream Theatre website if you want chops.

  • Sometimes less is more and in this case it worked. Just because he isn't flinging is arms all over the place and beating his drums to death like Travis Barker or he isn't playing a blistering double bass at 1,000 bpm doesn't mean this is crap. This is Joeys' style...either you like it or you don't. If you haters don't like the way he plays then don't watch him, it's just that simple.

  • What's that, a Drumsolo???

  • @DCussen I wouldn't say that's a drum solo, more or less a little jam to keep the audience alive while the rest of the group gets ready for the next song. It's an effective intermission that worked pretty well considering the crowd is dancing. Kramer has done better than that.

  • @DCussen A drum solo does'nt have to be big in fact some of the smaller stuff takes more talent.

  • @DCussen It's not a drum solo...it's a simple jam while everyone gets ready..I've seen the guy live, and I've seen him drum solos..he's unreal.

  • @DCussen

the fact is that he is playing in aerosmith and you are not.

  • @DCussen Or other Joey Kramer drum solos on youtube...

  • overratted

  • @inosdelaquaia Fuck you.

  • @RockerForLife74 No thanks, i fuck women

  • @inosdelaquaia Clever little bitch aren't ya?

  • is steven op dope?? sucha thin face...

  • OH YEA! STEVEN TYLER SCREATCH @ 0:45! AWESOME!

  • yukansuggit@ you know what? try to listen again and try to play like he do it when your about 50 years old! he,s like one of my biggest idols,s and you dare to throw dirt in hes face???just dig your own grave and jump down in it if you dont respekt other people!

  • jaja so comic dude yeah

    jaja

  • I just met him 5 mins ago at a Starbucks here in Edmonton. Very gracious and cordial man and no problem getting a pic with him!

  • wtf is joe perry wearing??

  • wtf is joe perry wearing??

  • Cause he's not trying.

  • haha he doesn't even look like he's trying

  • Joey is deffinetly one of my favourite drummers, he's one of the people who have inspired me even more to start up a band, I saw them in June and he was totally tight and in the zone, amazing concert :D

  • this dude lives at my country club. he has an audi r8 v10 and the classic audi r8. lucky guy..

  • we need more cowbell

  • Dude their awesome in concert!!! I saw them last June at Nissan PAvillian! It was Joey Kramers B-DAY!!!

  • I met him few days ago, with Steven Tyler. Both are very nice guys =)

  • loving the annotations you put on haha

  • Gotta love the Aerosmith Crew! Go Joey...Hit em hard!!

  • hahah "Da fuck you call me" XDXD

  • love your annotation :P

  • @raymandrums Thanks :D

  • I've heard that Tyler and Kramer have never been too fond of each other.

  • @russandersonus steven and joey are big friends, tyler was like a mentor, the big brother for joey

  • great feel great sound and great cowbell! technique in these contests it's not the most important thing.......

  • hamma solo

  • he is very good rock drummer

  • Good solo. He's done better but, as RockerForLife74 stated, it was for the other band to get tuned.

  • small world...his mom is friends with my grandma. she lives in our town xD she was at my house a few years ago...

  • jajaja!!!!!Do fuck you call me???....and Joe "lol"

  • they are both better then you will evr be

and who gives a crap whether or not its compilicated it sounds awesome

  • well check out his other stuff dude

  • This solo has a very catchy redundancy that keeps a good amount of variety in his playing here. How you cannot see that is beyond me. Although there are many drummers that can beat this particular solo, some drummers will have a very hard time doing Kramer's other material. Again, check out his other stuff. He's way better than you think.

  • I dont' see how you don't find this stylish or anything. Can't you tell everyone's dancing to it? I get what you're saying and in certain perspective you're right. But, here's the catch in this solo. This solo was done in order to give the rest of the band time to tune, check, etc.... While Joe, Tom, and Brad were doing their thing, Joey decided to keep the energy flowing through the crowd. Nothing stunning, but definitely something likable. And again, his other solo's display great skill.

  • Some drummers can play all the fancy shit you're looking for but choose not to. Kramer is one of them. I used to play in an Aerosmith tribute band and when it came to doing a solo I would do just what you would have been impressed by but it was the only thing I did out of character and then after watching Kramer drum solo videos I decided to tone it down because it was sounding too technical. It;s the same as the beats he plays in the songs; it's what fits the music that counts.

  • Did you know that Steve Ferrone played on an Aerosmith album because Joey Kramer couldn't do it? When all was said and done Aerosmith had Kramer come in and re-record all the drum tracks. What that tells me is that Kramer plays what's right for the music like any good drummer should. Right now I play in a band that plays a lot of Rush, Zeppelin, Yes, Kansas, etc...so I get to stretch a bit. Most very technical drum solos bore the crap out of me because I can do all that stuff. I prefer muicality

  • This IS a solo. It has the elements of one.

    1) Improv

    2) Switches tempos

    3) Performs drum fills

    4) Switches between certain difficulties when it comes to what is being played.

    5) Not a soundcheck.

Look up Kramer's drum solo in 1994 (I think that's the year). You need to review this video a lot more. There are certain speeds and very stylish beats in here! And Joey Kramer IS a great drummer. And Joe Perry has immense skill on the guitar. He beats Slash! (Although Slash is over credited)

  • @RockerForLife74 Slash is over-rated, joe perry is underrated, but lets be honest Eddie Van Halen owns.

  • @YodaVanGrindey95 Yes he owns. The guitarist that owns everyone is Jimmy Page. Hell, Eddie is heavily influenced by Page. It's because Jimmy Page is the best guitarist to ever walk this earth.

  • one fricken underated drummer

  • @gcharocks Agreed.

  • Joey Kramer is a legend! One of the most catchy, funkyest drum solos I've ever heard!

  • I love the whole focus on the ball Steven kicks instead of the kickass drumming

  • Nothing to really point out on Joey's side because he is just awesome period. I thought it would be funny to point out the whole Steven Tyler kicking ball thing. I had like 3 friends of mine see the video and the same dumb question came from the video. "Is that a bubble he kicked?"

    lol

  • !!!POW!!!LOL

  • Joey Kramer FTW on DRUMS and anytime

  • Guys, hope you take a look at our tribute to Joe Perry Project. Our Drummer is a Joey Kramer Fan, i am sure you can tell!!!!

    Its at Jeez Louise Instrumental.

Hope you all like it, it was just a little improv before a show. Take care. I would appreciate a little feedback:

  • Hey dontplayformenero, can certainly understand why you say you are not a great drummer. This was not so much as a spotlight solo but a lead into Walk this Way. All solo's don't require a demonstration of all the chops you have in your repitoire - as in this case. Believe it or not, some solo's, as simple and basic as this, are harder to phrase and play so it actually 'fits' the upcoming segue..........Joey's got chops all day long, I'm sure enough to impress even you.

  • Yeah dude. Joeys a motherfucker on the drums when he wants to be.

  • Listen to Joey's drum solo at the end of Young Lust. Too awesome!!

  • yup. its fun to see a person who previously didnt like Aerosmith listening to that song and watching their jaw drop when the drum solo starts.

  • Steven Tyler always trying to steel the spotlight lol

  • 0:45? wtf? LOL

  • When and where was this?

  • 2001 concert. That's all I know man.

  • noo Steven is the oldest. he was born in 1948

  • Yeah I thought so. Thanks!

  • you're welcome. No Problem man

  • more Cowbell!!!!

  • this drum solo ownz so much !!

  • thats not much im not a great drummer but that was lame, kickass? i think not

  • This solo in particular isn't insanely hard but it is not easy either. The hardest technique used in this solo was an intermediate based split coordination. Although most of it was house rock beats, some skill was thrown in this solo but not even CLOSE to what Joey Kramer can actually do. This was a little playful skit compared to Joey K.'s real talent. Don't doubt this guy's skill, watch some of his other solos.

  • i got his book signed by him

  • joey kramer is an awesome drummer and his book is awesome

  • i met him today he was really nice

  • And really awesome.

    Joey Kramer and Aerosmith forever!

  • steven tyler is 61 years old he was born in 1948

  • Which makes him the oldest member of Aerosmith since everyone else was born in either 1950 or 1951 or 1952. Eh, I need to brush up on my Aerosmith.

  • listen to his drumming :

    theme of spiderman

    drop dead gorgeous

    gotta love it

    walk on water

    CRASH <<< almost forgot :/

    eat the rich

    Cheers V

  • I've heard and seen it all. =) His drumming is very rhythmic and professionally composed and coherant. A true legend. I want to see them in concert so bad but I didn't have the money because our economy is doing so well! (sarcasm)

  • aw steven, ur just jealous of Joey cause he can make a better drum solo than you!

(that face that joey made at steven when he said "alright fancy-pants" is priceless!)

  • well Done

  • haha steve tyler is such a cool guy

  • aahhh fancy pants. DA FUCK YOU CALL ME B-YOCH. lol

  • lol to joey perry you is a peach

  • You are the master,dude.

    Gotta love it.

  • love the changin' ''Get the fuck outta my face!'' Then Kramer starts to play walk this way

    5/5

  • =) lol =)

  • WOW that's so fun there 1:50 "get the fuck out my face!!

  • lol chea i loved putting the annotations in because I wanted to make this kinda funny. But hell yeah man Aerosmith fucking rocks the world and I'm glad to know there are more rockers out there than the pathetic ones that listen to sucky ass bands like Slipknot and Korn. Aerosmith is rock!

  • so funny !!!! WOW that's so cool!!

  • haha 1:50 lol get the fuck out of my face lol

  • da fuck u call me LOL

  • he´s amazing.

  • Wow, that's really cool.
