It's actually the same scene used three or four times. The director decided, instead of shooting another scene, he would just reuse this shot and change the effects for it. It always bothered Oded, too.
Fluent Arabic? His accent is dreadful and what he says is almost unreckognizable! Most of these American producers are so stupid, they can't even get the Arabic dress correct. I mean, in films like 2012, the Saudi prince was Pakistani and the dress was worn totally incorrectly .... he looked like a tourist going to Egypt and 'trying' to wear Saudi get up .... and gets laughed at by the locals as he looks a total effing idiot!
there is a slight difference in the second line... but its probably how it translates to english that makes it appear that oded is having a social retard moment. He speaks fluent arabic so i don't think its his "wording" but those who did the subtitles
Now I'm going to giggle at those parts everytime I see it. Why didn't I notice that before. Oh well, he's still and always will be my favorite character.
I think the second one is different... There's a DVD commentary where he points it out, that they used the same scene twice to try and give the medjai more of a story, because some people weren't getting it.
lol as a man that speaks fluent arabic i noticed this from the moment i saw the movie. i dont know about oded's political views but if hes an israeli jew playing a heroic arab character that says alot about the man Ardeth bay remains one of my favorite charchters in the mummy
@Basiltheking There`s one point in " The Mummy Returns " where I noticed Oded`s natural Israeli accent slip through Ardeth`s Arabic accent . It`s when Ardeth asks The O`Connell/Carnahan family " Why can`t you people keep your feet on the ground " .
omgggg i never noticed that! I think the first and third definitely are the same, the second sounds veryyy similar though, but he still looks/sounds FIT!!!
my friend says: i swear the 1st n 3rd r the same, second isnt ... but 1st n 3rd are exactly the same...

I think he's supposed to say "haydi el sahara rah te'tello" meaning this desert will kill him. If I'm not mistaken. ;D
TheLoneDevil 3 months ago 2
Three times he says something with "sahara", so my guess is that the second translation is the correct one.

Dude, I've known this for years. It was how I first realized that Oded is not Egyptian or Arabic. Turns out he is from Isreal. Speaks Hebrew.
Freak813 2 years ago
The first and third are definitely the same. Not the second, though, but it does sound similar.
FantasmaLuna 2 years ago
The first and third are most definitely the same line. The second one begins with a different phrase, it sounds like. I could be wrong, though.
In any event, kudos on catching the gaff there of the duplicated phrase.. :D
