Guys...If you are woundering how to find a slime, notch has removed them due to chuck errors. He has worked on them for a while and now, if you have beta 1.3_0.1 you will probably encounter some slimes

As of Beta 1.3, slimes in multiplayer will become client sided splitting. Because of this, they will not take any damage [3]. Because they are located on the clients side, the player can only remove the slimes by exiting and re-entering the server. Client-sided slimes are only visible to the player whose client they spawned on.

Notch partially fixed the slime spawning, but apparently they only spawn in old pre-v1.0.14_04 saves due to a flag in the NBT files.

From the wiki: In the Coesquest livestream, Notch confirmed that slimes are back in the game. However, they are extremely rare. He will make them more common in a future update.

Heres the actual story from Minecraft Wiki.

When slimes were released, people were happy. Eventually they started to hate slimes because of their very high spawn rate, and it was too commonly found in dark unexplored caves, much more common than zombies and skellies. So then notch fixed the spawn rate. But while he did, some miscalculations and mistakes took place which made slime spawn rates drop TREMENDOUSLY so as it was close to impossible from seeing them.

TO EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO FIND A SLIME: Notch has removed slimes until he can fix the bugs with the chunks. The slime mob.png is still in the .jar but there's the pigman.png in there, and they aren't in use. Thumb this up so people don't waste countless hours trying to find slimes. He removed them after the Halloween update. If you say you've seen a slime after the halloween update: Please go shove your head far up your ass for lieing and trying to get people to waste time looking for slimes.

@custom137 Since your clearly retarded then I'll explain. Slimes spawn just near bedrock and come in 4 sizes. They can spawn on peaceful as well. Slimes cannot spawn naturally for the moment because the spawn was broken and notch took them out of the spawn list. There is a slime spawner mod however it does not currently work with the beta version of minecraft.
