@BesCK1976 Wow that's very bigoted of you. So you think black people wouldn't support freedom of speech? I'm not scared of the police - I put him in his place. Police have no right to harass people that are not committing any crimes.
You Call That Harassment?! OMG, you must be as sweet as sugar. The day you really get harassed you are going to pee in your pants. You did not get taken in, the officer did not touch you and you continued to record. You are such a poop but for posting this like your life was in danger.
@ICU2Dangerous Yes, the officer harrased me, I was doing nothing illegal and he was intimidating me by asking me questions, which I obviously would never answer. NEVER talk to the police. I would never stop recording, why would I stop? This isn't Nazi Germany, yet.
You have every right to record them. They asked you why you are recording and you do not need to answer that question. A previous poster mentioned that if you are in front of a business that is illegal. Not true if you are on a public sidewalk. If you are on their doorstep or in their business then they can tell you not to record and you can get into trouble but you are clearly on a sidewalk and not breaking any laws.
@cortchubby wrote, "no ass plug YOU act like the antagonistic terrorist."
If that's what you think of as terrorism you're the biggest cunt on all of YouTube.
And just how well do you know that Sergeant? By the tone of your post it seems like you probably spend a good part of your nights in his patrol car with your tongue working over his bare testicles.
Curtilage laws! Try "public right-of-way" you police sergeant teabagging imbecile.
Are drivers allowed to park on pedestrian crossings in the US? Here youd get a $100 fine and 3pts on your licence! (12pts in four years and you're banned for a year)
Have to give you credit for keeping cool and weighing your response. Too many cop-block types shoot-off their mouths in futile debates over videoing on the street. Just do as this guy does and keep from escalating the situation. And whatever you do, do not become part of the action by getting closer or adding your comments from the sidelines b/c you're begging for trouble. "Observing" is just-that. "Officer I am in a public place and do not wish to engage in any conversation with you."
@cortchubby Thanks for the update. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement, my grandfather was an inspector in Philly and father lifelong military. Thanks and carry on.
@cortchubby I'm sure Sergeant is a good man but as a police officer he must uphold the Constitution. He took and oath. And from the video you can see that it is the detective in the black car that pulls up, looks at me, and orders the sergeant to confront me. I have no issue with anyone. This is an educational piece so that others know the don't have to talk to the police if they have done nothing wrong.
If you feel threatened by cortchubby's posts regarding a place that you lawfully spend time just let me know. I'll gladly provide you his name and home address so that you may take appropriate action to protect yourself from his implied threat. He's real scum, lives in Chicago and makes posts sympathetic to U.S. Nazi/White Power imbeciles. Cort is a real low life sack of shit. Be careful.
@cortchubby Curtilage laws apply to houses and dwellings. Go back to law school. And for your information I was on public property. Yes I do hang out at 1010 W Lake Street often. Are you threatening me? I'm just pointing out that photography is not a crime and the police approached me from across a street to harass me.
It's comical how they begin to stutter mumble and search for something relevant to say, once they realize their intimidation tactics have failed. Not just in this vid, but in almost every vid I've watched where educated citizens stand up to them and effectively render them(the cops) impotent.
I was threatened with arrest in Roger's Park (Chicago) for observing the police from a public sidewalk at an even further distance than the photographer in this video. Police want to watch us, but won't put up with us observing them.
"Can we subpoena your recording" is a dumb question. The State's Attorney's Office could probably subpoena it if they wanted to: they don't need your permission. 725 ILCS 5/115‑17. Seems like the officer was engaged in intimidation tactics.
@jkjk763 "Seems like the officer was engaged in intimidation tactics."
That's exactly what I was thinking. If the officer was interested at all in the footage he would immediately ask for the person's information to be contacted as a witness and for the footage. But he didn't, he was simply meaning, "turn it off or I will have that taken away from you."
i think the problem is you failed to watch the video that the oak park police put out on how to act around cops. you are supposed to bow and lick their boots like a good sheep. they can film you all they want, but they dont like you filming them. give a wanna-bully a badge and that clown there is exactly what youll get. oak park went down the drain years ago!
Yeah really... You must scare easy ... You should cross to the east side of Austin and see how tough u feel taping people with your little phone

Just keep ignoring the Cop by repeating your Consttitutional right to NOT answer him. Keep smiling too. That really fucks with them.
