  • I'd have gotten DDR. But that's because I generally like dance/eurodance/trance/techno music, and I also enjoy the exercise it gives me.

  • @SWAGshow I can't tell if you are calling donkey konga a good purchase, because i'm considering purchasing donkey konga 1 and 2.even 2 has Hillary DUFF : (

  • @Takahashi2212 Donkey Konga 1 is fun, 2 is a disaster.

  • hey swag im a big fan of your reviews can you do a review of call of duty world at war

nazi zombies that would be aswome : )

  • 3:10 LMAO WTF

  • i like stepmania better than beatmania and konami did not do a good job on beatmania.

  • LOLOL BODOM AT 8:17 :D

  • 1:52 Monkey pingas?

  • This game is even worse than I imagined, now that I haeve seen it in action.

  • Worst. Review. Ever.

Beatmania isn't that hard. Try training mode?

The keys are black and white like... a piano, maybe.

Show some respect to Konami, the company that pioneered music and rhythm games.

Do yourself a favor and google Guitar Freaks and Drum Mania... see what that reminds you of...

  • Dude, first of all, if you look in the description of the video it says "a humorous look" at the games not a serious, journalistic review.

And yes, I am well aware of Konami's contributions to rhythm-based games. But even though they were pioneers in the genre, doesn't mean that they were yet perfected.

  • Beatmania still is by far the best music game out there. Period. with 17 mixes and counting.

  • Great review, SWAG!

Also, tigerkidtre, if you noticed in SWAG's review for Midway Classics Arcade for Gamecube, the Bongos are right next to the Gamecube! I not insulting you, I just wanted to let you know about the Bongos.

  • Donkey Konga is a decent game.

I have the sequel, Donkey Konga 2.

It's rated T for teen, so it might have some songs that you know.

  • I'm interrupting this show cause I'm a JACKASS!

    LOL!!

  • arent beatmania, dj hero?

  • Stop comparing things to guitar hero like its your god or Budda or something. Guitar hero is an okay game. But if anything EVERY beat game should be compared to beatmania since it came out in 1997 and is very VERY popular. but since guitar hero is easy ya know it does require no timing windows and has popular songs. Americans would rather play it then drop their boundries and open up to new tastes in music. (I myself being American)

  • Dude...what'd you really do with that controller?! I just bought one...don't tell me you threw it away! T_______T

  • You know what, I'm sorry. You're talking about the Beatmania controller, aren't you. If you are, he didn't throw it away. In his Zelda: Minish Cap review, he uses it as a sound block for a gavel.

  • jam jam raggae more like jam jam raggay

  • I like the way you say "JAM JAM REGGAE"

    Just me lol

  • why do all americans say OMFG BEATMANIA FUKIN SACKZ MAI BALLZ. GUITAR HEROZ RULEEEZZ!!! yes i am american but im sorry...guitar hero..is freakin easy. beatmania is a real challenging game that takes alot of skill to play.

  • yeah, I wanna try it, but I don`t have a job, so it sux

but, I think guitar hero is probably the best game I`ve ever played, so ya

  • well yea i guess its kknda hard without a job but getting the original Japanese styles of beatmania would be alot harder to get

  • I wonder what you would have done if you reviewed Elite Beat Agents.

  • donkey konga looks like Taiko Tatjutsin

  • They both have the same creator

  • Donkey konga is great if you are an 80's man

  • igtman you know what you suck

  • this is my fav favfavfavfavfavfav i just like him play music game it is just so fun to watch and it all ways make me wanna rofl yes rofl

  • Beatmania is fucken awesome. Dont ever fucken compare beatmania to guitar hero. I play AC/CS versions, and own 6th, 8th Style to 15th Style, and are worth every dollar.

Beatmania is an awesomely difficult game. Lame ass north american gamers who have terrible rhythm and play nothing but guitar hero and rock band.

SWAGShit, do your fucking research, idiot.

  • I dunno why people thumbs down you i mean yea the north american gammer thing went pretty far but I love beatmania. Its a fun hard and challenging game.

  • @ITGMan:I have a problem with your third point, as the right side of the screen shouldn't even be there, something you seem to be missing. That stuff should be going on in the background, such as better games like Guitar Hero and DDR do it, not splitting the screen in half so you can watch some acid trip on one side while trying to pay attention to the other side.

  • I got beatmania.

    Different though.

Mine is IIDX, its way more better. I have IIDX 12 Happy Sky, IIDX 13 DistorteD, and IIDX 14 Gold.

  • lol at amerikka and their inability to play japanese games. sure the learning curve is high but everyone expects instant results and gratification these days. DAMN IT WORK AT IT!

  • Beatmania review made me laugh actually, and i'm a hardcore player.

I'm not really complaining tho i mean, beatmania IS a hard ass game, it's got a hard learning curve, it's hard to understand, and not very american friendly.

Most players who play are usually big on japanese type stuff (anime, japanese type videogames, etc) so it's easier for us to like this game. So I don't really blame the guy for not liking beatmania all that much. Beatmania + America just doesn't mix

  • THANK YOU!!!!

  • @jonZ1985 Ironic that they have reggae and rap on there, ain't it?

  • i own teh same traytables as u...lol

  • disregard my last comment I just found out it was from someone named Reo-Nagumo but I love this review!

  • lol what a typical review of beatmania. This game just can't get a break in the US. I guess Nintendo was justified in thinking American gamers hate hard stuff when they decided not to release the original Super Mario Bros. 2 in the U.S. I guess if a music game wants to succeed its got to be easy like guitar hero :(. Also soundtrack was decent but its not hardcore xxx metal rock so most people say it sucks.

Although to be fair beatmania US was a crappy game compared to the japanese versions.

  • nice labtop!!! :D

  • When you were playing "do you love me" on beatmania, one of the vocals in the background sounded like snoop doggy dogg but I don't think he ever made a song entitled "do you love me" what song was that, if you know...

  • Funny

  • I gotta say that your review of beatmania was everything I expected it to be. Not saying this is a bad thing, just saying your reaction was very expected. The problem with the game is that it's too hard for casual gamers to get into, and it's too easy and same-old for experienced gamers. Konami honestly did do a bad job with this release, as they could've handled it much better.

But back to your review, I agree with it and liked it. It's infinitely better than the X-Play review of beatmania.

  • The US version of beatmania was only good for a few things, 1) playing classic 5 key songs on a newer interface 2) getting the controller at a relatively cheap price as opposed to buying one imported. The only people who bought that game are importers who want to get into the Japanese versions and avid importers who want a cheap controller. I don't blame Konami for butchering the game though, I blame stupid Americans and their dimwitted culture.

  • Hilarious!!!

    Nice Job!

  • I'm a huge fan of the beatmania series, and I gotta say, your review of the US release is pretty much spot on. Most of the songs on it are either 8+ years old or remixes of the horrible covers on Karaoke Revolution. Whether they did this because later songs are incredibly difficult (See Mei, Nageki no Ki, One More Lovely, and/or Piano Kousoukyoku Daiichiban "Sasoribi" aka Scorpion Fire on Another) or because they were lazy and rushed it to have rights to a dj simulation before others could

  • i think it's the latter

  • Lol nice keep it up I'm impressed

  • Bill Thingballs, what a jackass. You should try watching Bill Engvall, a Bill that's actually worth watching.

  • You do know that is exactly who I was doing a parody of right?

  • Ya, I do. But I think Bill Engvall is actually pretty funny, just not the kind of funny that should be in a sitcom. He should have taken a lesson from the Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Cosby Shows and stuck strictly to stand-up.

  • Yes lol

  • Nice, man, nice! Keep up the good work, Swagshow:D

  • Hilarious and yet so professional. Thanks again for this awesome video.

  • This is friggin' funny. Beatmania...beats my nuts.

    Great video as always!!!

  • nice job! really funny!

  • nice,i love your videos....=]

  • Awesome!

Like your style dude! Keep those vids coming!!!

  • DUDE that part around 1:40 with bill thigball, yo i HATE that shit they do on tbs ! fuckign up my "everybody loves raymond"... how dare they !!!

  • LMAO awesome

  • The Toxic Part Was Funny.

  • I've played beatmania before but it wasn't for the PS2 it was for the arcade.

  • lol. ddr. 13 or japanese. so true, so true.

  • nice, that dj crap deserved to die!

  • wow, very nice reviews! Finally someones pay attention to Donkey Konga! But I have to admit that the basic idea of Beatmania is quite interesting...a wiiware port with customizable music and better controls maybe? :D

  • lol nice.

  • awesome vid duuude

  • Good review. I loved donkey konga. it was guitar hero before guitar hero was even a concept. You should review donkey kong junglebeat next.

  • Playing Britney Spears...hmmm Pre KFED or Post?

    Anyway great review.

  • Yay, HQ version is finally available.

  • lol, I love the thing with the box at the beggining, great idea!

Also, it was funny the way you destroyed the DJ thing. Classic RPG!

  • Beatmania was definitely fun back in 1999. But you needed some mad ninja skills just to do songs 6 stars and higher. =/

  • I could barely even do the 3* songs. I don't know why you would want to spend enough time on this game to do 6* songs anyway.

  • Because I'm asian, and we asians love our rhythm games. X'D

If you ever get into these games, it won't matter how stupid a song sounds. You'll love or hate songs solely based on its difficulty.

  • Because its fun perhaps

  • WTF? We will rock you? Pokemon theme? why weren't they in the english version? Ghey -_-

  • lol

  • lol Bill Thingballs! Like he said, hes a jackass! :O

  • Cool review! Love the opening credit theme music

  • HA HA YOU HAD TO PLAY BRITNEY SPEARS
