  • ok the beegees are awesome to but you have to give it to the master Al Green he nailed that song

  • A classic!

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • greatest songs of half century ago ....

Please help me mend my broken heart ... :)

  • Many good memories thanks for sharing

  • I am so sick...

  • Who's Al Green ???? Bee Gees live forever !!

  • @territory1100

Al Green is the man, and he sang this song because he was paying tribute to a great band and a great song

  • Never heard al green sing it. What's the big deal, anyway...I sing it better than either!

  • @badgertale

    lol

  • I love this song by both artists. <3

  • I love this song always will the Bee Gees were the shit

  • opinions

  • @ukucuckoo fuck off then

  • this might be my favorite ...:)

  • One of their best. Sung with great feeling A beautiful classic

  • fenomenalna stara stvar

  • Let's hope Robin gets through this next setback in their lives!

  • here we go again

  • love them both. different and effective. love al and the bee gees

  • I grew up on all these old musics and i was born in 91 so most my age group don't know what i am talking about unless their parents played it all the time when they was kids..

  • I love the Bee Gees, however it reminds me of when my first husband broke my heart. The version of Al Green reminds me of how Jesus Christ mend my broken heart, so when I listened to Al Green's version I don't feel bad.

  • @henryandpatty Song reminds me that I'm getting old! I like it anyay.

  • I really hate disco Bee Gee (except Jive Talkin). To me, this is their best song and Robin's crowning moment. They had to appeal to the masses and disco was their only way back to the top. Even Barry couldn't wait for the hysteris to die down.

  • The Bee Gees are one of a kind and no group can touch them as far as dance music and just to listen to it. I can still remember doing the Hustle Dance in a Leisure Suite and Body shirt with platform shoes. Al Green has his own style of this hit and he does it ok but the Bee Gees are better .

  • My boken heart are need you now ............

  • One of their best songs..I love it

  • Bee Gees are cool

  • This was the time when I was busy wiping the tears from my eyes

  • @Samy1722

I remeber when i lost my first big love and this song was popular. I played it over and over again and crying almost a month and belived that my live was over. Today I can laught at that memory but I didn`t do it then. (sorry for my bad english).

  • Eng. GOOD

  • I think it's waaay more better than Al Green's version.

  • lovely song

  • Guys! What does the facts have to do with anything. And why does anyone have to be ignorant. No one can argue with the facts. Yes the BEE GEES own and recorded the orginal version, and it's great!! Yes AL GREEN re-recorded the song and made it his own soulful version and it's great!! There is a cultural differance and it is a matter of opinion. No one is right or wrong each indivisual has their opinon on which version they feel is better. It's all a matter of opinon. Respect everone's.

  • The Bee Gees Rock this song its awsome.

But My man Al Green makes this song So Soulfull I agree with ascend2me

  • For the ignorant who dont know the facts, or cant look them up, the Bee Gees wrote and OWN the song!

"How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" was released by the Bee Gees in 1971. The song had been written by Barry and Robin Gibb in August 1970 and recorded it on their 1971 album, Trafalgar.

The song was recorded on 28 January 1971 in London.

A 1972 recording of the song, recorded by Al Green, was prominently featured in the 1999 film Notting Hill (film) and 2010 film The Book of Eli.

  • me hace llorar!!!!!!

  • so sad thatyall don;t wanna give al green his props he made this song what it it is...

  • It's sad that no one has respect for anyones love of music. I am a Black American

41 year old women I grew up on the BEE GEES and AL GREEN and they are both powerful artist in thier own right. There is no need to be so critical, disrespectful, and insulting because one person prefers one version over another. Everyone should respect an indivisual's right to thier opinon without such nasty insults, and anyone who has an opinon should respect an indivisual's right to thier choice of music. LOVE!!

  • @tcyjhn41 you are so right thanks so much ..

  • @tcyjhn41 agreed...but al green's version takes this song to another level!!!

  • HEY I M LOOKING FOR LYRICS OF BEEGES BUT CANT FIND IT SHIT FUCKKKKK

  • YOU NEVER REALISE HOW GOOD SOMTHING WAS UNTIL YOU DONT HAVE IT.MUSIC FROM GODDS.

  • The Bee Gees have a uniquely harmonic sound that will never be duplicated. Thank you Bee Gees for all the joy your music has brought me in my life.

  • If you aren't exposed to other cultures musically, you'll always compare vocal styles. Al Green, The Isleys, etc., have helped create babies.: Every culture identifies with their own but music is relative. :)

  • Sono stati la colonna sonora della mia giovinezza. Indimenticabili!

    Melinda, ti capisco.

  • quanto vi amo!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tghis is not the best Bee Gees version, but the're all far superior and more soulful than the Al Green version

  • My gf just broke up with me...thank you BeeJees for helping me get through the pain :)

  • How can somebody broke your heart 3 times in X Mas?

This is the most horrible day of my life....

  • @gordadeldemonio11 How did that happen? 3 times? I'm sorry to hear that...

  • @tripodnano1990 It was a stupid promise, 3 actually. I told him I didn't want to fall for him, But I am.

  • geat song tolisten while playing minecraft.....alone :\

  • Another harmony from these three fantastic brother Gees ! Undeniably terrific !

  • Both versions sound good to me.

  • Auld lang syne!

  • Both are unique and great. Why does there always need to be a single best?

  • I couldn't really listen to Al Green's cover of this song. I'm glad the original version of this song can still be heard. Thanks for posting it.

  • Love this, better than Al Green's version.......

  • @9TruthSeeker11 Yeah, i listened to the Bee Gees since i was 2. And R.I.P. Maurice Gibb, too.

  • Am about to try to introduce my 15 year old grandson to the BeeGees. Think I will need all the real fans out there to be thinking of us. it's going to be hard--no doubt. He is a good vocalist, good guitar, and close to great pianist; knows and likes the Beatles, but then every kid does. I think theBeeGees have gotten lost in the younger musician's search. Love you Robin, Mo, and Brian--the best. and to you who made this sound happen--Thanks.

  • The great thing about well written songs, is that they can be interpreted by different artists and each artist brings their gifts to the table. There is something for fans to like. No need to talk about who has the 'better version'. Take the broadway musical standards that have been performed by many artists. I like the Bee Gees interpretation and I like Al Green's interpretation too. It's all good. I'm glad both artists provided great music for me to enjoy.

  • I dig Al Green but for this song,NOT!

  • Awesome!

  • how

  • fuck Al Green

  • i can think of youger days......:)

  • No. Screw Al Green's version. The Original forever, and ever, and so on. I grew up with this music, and no man or whoever he is with the name "Al Green" will replace Legends.

    Thanks.

  • 130 lucky fellas never had the heart broken!

  • u dont need to hate on al green or the bee gees both of there songs are awesome dont hate appreiate

  • que linda cancion! =(

  • BEST SONG I EVER HEARD ON MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

  • I've always loved this song by the Bee Gees. Greatest version ever.

  • Who the hells Algreen?!?!...The BeeGees wrote the song!...It doesn't get better than the BeeGees! Pure band that always tried to do the right thing...and it seems the rest turned to drugs to look cool or to get attention.Let people like what makes them happy but one day it will be there own demise...when they lose their friends and are lost...the BeeGees will always lead to happiness....sex, drugs and rocken roll is for a day...BeeGees will last forever! Who wants to be in their happy place?!?!

  • @Thanatos7129 I love you! for saying that.

  • Both are great versions.

My daughter learned the sound of the letter 'h" by listening to this version.

  • @thrillattack101 thats great. heheheh

  • @Thanatos7129 No they didn't it was written by Al Green and not the Bee Gees

  • @limiter3118

L2P and RTFM before trolling, the song was written by, Barry and Robin Gibb in August 1970. (Bee Gees had it as nr 1 on the Billboards in august 1971

  • @Thanatos7129 Al Green is a R&B Soul Legend he sung this song that The BeeGees wrote.

  • I guess that is all a heart is for...breaking. There is no mending this one... :'(

  • You can get this kind of songs anyway. Great......!!!

  • Bee Gees..... Awesome period!

  • omg im inlove

  • OMG Al Green!! Nobody but nobody should touch the brilliance of the brothers Gibb

  • Linda, linda.....Divina, maravilhosa!!!!!!!

  • absolutely incredible sound and songs never ever to be repeated anywhere on this planet....they are all the best......

  • al green. f.ck you mate. u got nowt on the bee gees .ok ted

  • I heard both versions when they first came out....IMO they are BOTH great....People, it's OK if you don't like one or the other because it's not your preference, it's OK to have different tastes in music!! No one performer can please everybody!! Just enjoy whichever version you like(or both!!).

  • they both have their time /magpieeye

  • thats why we need to know the history behind every song :)

  • How can anybody think that Al Green can compare to this!! OMG! The Bee Gee's did it first and will be the only one's who do it best!

  • Wow this uploader is just a douche for saying fuck Al green. I think he did an awesome job on this song but I like both versions equally and I'm more of an Al green fan

  • Only those growing up in the 60s and enjoying their teens in the 70s will appreciate the Bee Gees and their songs.

  • @vet59 Thats bullshit, its like telling people they can not appreciate classical music if they were not born when it first came out.

  • I remember when I was 17 years old, what memories!!!...This is real music !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • New love reminded me of this song. There is a suchness.

  • Here m8 you have a bang hang up the Bee Gees and Al Green sing the song with conviction I personally would hate to choose there is many a song I love and sang by different artist, but they put they put their own input into it.

  • Both contributed to beautiful timeless music, so who cares...Did it ever cross your mind that Al Green did his version because HE IS A FAN OF THE BEE GEES. You idiots... I didn't wanna name call, but my goodness people.

  • @MrYoubtubin PREACH MrYoubtubin!!! I don't understand why it was necessary to go there anyway, this isn't the rap game where there is east/west coast beef... this is real music!!! LOL

  • @minustheBSlifesgr8 I agree with you....the Bee Gees are just beyond parity...why do Al Green fans keep coming here to bad mouth the Bee Gees? Al Green is a reasonable singer but the Bee Gees are legends

  • @Chicawapa100 Wowzers, I don't know if I could ever put Al Green and the words reasonable singer in the same sentence because Al is the MAN in my world! But I feel where you're coming from, let's end it with this, they are all very talented and I'm glad that after all these years, we can still enjoy BOTH of their music (:

  • wait 35 yrs - let him BACK in the front door - and mend the broken hearts - Joe and I just did this and now we're getting married!!!

  • @MrYoubtubin I knew as soon as you started the sentence with "And" that the education system had failed you, I would rather braid the hairs on my ass than argue with the village simpleton!

  • if one was the type of audiophile that enjoyed a group (or band) that has harmony down to an exact science, such as the bee gees do here, then you would truly enjoy this song for the incredible experience that it is. Like i do. but thats just my humble opinion. I also enjoy Frank Sinatra so what do i know right?

  • @Murfinias i love the beegees..<3

  • I pray for Robin during this most difficult time. Also, I know that Barry must be going through hell, losing Andy, Maurice (Morris) and now this. We never know what God has planned for each of us, but I know He is with the Gibb Family.

  • @JesusHoldMyHand1 Thanks for saying what I was feeling. I love their music so much. God bless Robin and Maurice.

  • @MrYoubtubin This is not a version! this is the original! this was a massive hit on its own merits, it did not need the help of any films past or present. As for the comment about it being similar to bluegrass, that is ludicrous! it is a ballad..plain and simple.....another Bee Gees classic, as singer songwriters they are beyond parity.

  • It would have been easy to mend, when my heart was only broken. It was shatterd. It took me a long time, to keep my eyes dry, when I was listening to this song. Still it hurts like hell.

  • they both bring it out of us

  • @david97917 they both bring it out of us say what you want.

  • This song still reminds me to this day30 some yrs later of one of my true loves from school. The Bee Gees will Alaways be one of my all time favs. What a band & what and what memories they still give me till this day. & R.I.P Andy our generation will never forget you.

  • @17DJLOVER

Fair point..I didn't mean to disrespect the Gibbs..I was just defending Al Green...I've always been a huge fan..lets leave it there..I don't want to start another war of words with you guys.

  • @22v68 Everybody is influenced by other artists, all bands admit to that fact...the Beatles, the Stones and the Bee Gees state what artist or song or sound made an impact on them, that does not mean that they cannot surpass that particular band or singer. What makes the Bee Gees so unique is their diversity, to have a huge country song out like Islands In The Stream and a mowtown song Chain Reaction out within a few months of each other is incredible. That is what is so special about them.

  • @22v68 Actually...if you scour you tube as you always seem to do...feeding from other peoples conversations, you will find that they were just as popular with black people, in fact the ratio was quoted as 50/50 at one time. In future you may wish to use the whole of the cerebrum instead of the minute part your thoughts occupy.

  • @doowopdiddler You parochial mendacious tosser!

  • Who was the one on the left?

  • An AM staple from long ago...these guys were so talented. Love the

Rev. Al Green too. No debate...they're both classics.

  • @22v68 Yes and what year era were these released? the public have voted with their money and all of the tracks you mentioned were outsold by "blue eyed soul" songs such as How Deep Is Your Love, Too Much Heaven, Love So Right, and dozens more! To reiterate without this particular Bee Gees song...we would not be having this conversation. It has revived Al Greens career,,,its as simple as that, the last hits he enjoyed were in the 70s

  • @22v68 I cannot see any Elvis, Joplin,Buble, Steisand,Diana Ross, Dione Warwick,Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton or hundreds of other major artists covering Al Green songs, no doubt there are plent of covers but please, the Bee Gees are such prolific songwriters, producers, singers, there is no contest here. Al Greens talent is not in question...but the comparison is ludicrous

  • Comment removed

  • @marcomoss1979 Perhaps you can share with me the last top ten record that Al Green had in either the US or the UK...its not a case of stacking the Bee Gees against Al Green, I am merely quoting the facts! The Bee Gees get very little credit for their tremendous achievements, I like to see fair play, do you have a problem with that?

  • @Orky210

I'm a Bee Gees Fan as well, I love the 70's music

Al Green album "Lay It Down" released in 2008 ...Hit #9 on Billboard...

Not to mention countless Gospel Music hits and awards...since stepping away from R&B...

I know the BG's get more props in the UK, but I think the US has always shown love for

    The Brothers Gibbs....Peace...

  • Agree with wenbarra, YOU HAD TO BE THERE…though Al Green's version ain't bad, this was a different time, things were not what they are now.

  • @chambsuper90 Possibly Al screwed this song up. However "Lets stay together" is by far the smoooothest song ever made. Al Green is a class act!

  • THIS VRESION SUCKS BIG TIME . AL GREEN ALL THE WAY

  • al green is the shit

  • This is My favorite version, Bee Gees, Great!

  • @marcomoss1979 Every song Al Green sings sounds the same to me, he lacks the diversity of the original by the Bee Gees, they sing it like a heartbreak song, they ask the question, Al just sings it like any other song. The Gibbs vocals are beyond parity and that is why they remain one of the top selling songwriters and bands in history...had it not been for this particular song used on in various films Al Green would have been virtually forgotten.
