@trubophein not true ya maybe if your in motocrosss every 20 hours but just like if u hav a 125 and you trail ride pit ride everything but track than like a couple hundred houra buddy cuz each ride is a couple hours ilput 20 hours on my bikes in 3 rides
hell i got the same bike and i bought it last year never been rebuilt then i rebuilt and damn i thought it was fast before i rebuilt it shit its fast as fuck now
Racing is diffrent, but if you have one for personal use you rebuild the 2 stroke once over 6 to 8 years if you ride it a lot and with proper care. On the other hand a 4 stroke can go maybe 10 to 15, but it cost atleast twice as much to rebuild a 4 stroke. 2 strokes are easyer on the wallet if you do your own work.
but a 2 stroke rebuild is cheap! and if and your 4 stroke has alot more parts that can go wrong. and when it goes your going to spend alot more. but they are good bikes for trail riding, but when it comes to going fast or racing id allways go with the 2 stroke.
125 and 250 are the same size bike just a differnt size engine. The 125 gives you play to screw up in giving it throttle, the 250 will leave your ass in the dirt if you dont know how to ride
omg y does evry1 on u-tube go on about haw tall they are and ask if they will fit on a full size bike, y dont you go view the bike and se if you fit on it !
@bestdirectorsever Well when u live where i do i am over 70 miles from any kind of mx or atv shop/dealership i wouldnt want to waste 20 dollars in gas just to look at a bike when u can ask a simple question.
hello, I just bought a 01 rm250 and when i got the bike i ran it for about an hour then it boged down on me and woudnt start again so i cleaned it real nice and when i took the expansion chamber out it had this thick oil looking liquid so i cleaned it but it still doesnt start. If any one could help me i would realy apreciate it!!!! it also has good spark so i think that is not the problem
sure, most 125's are taller than 250's believe it or not. but you should be fine. ride a friends or something, just so you know how it will be, i know of small/short girls riding ktm 125's that are faster than any other125 out there and they do fine.
also a good idea, this is just a video man, the bike didn't stay idling till it broke in. you should always ride to break in ur bike, but depending on the piston you use, let the bike warm up up real good, 5-10 min so everything can expand and wear in the right way
you should replace a 125cc top end every 20-30 hours, is a lot cheaper to just get a piston and gasket kit every once in a while, than to resleeve or recoat the cylinder
32:1 mix maybe a extra 1/2 oz of oil per gallon, you might foul a couple plugs, thats normal, better safe then sorry. i know guys who don't even break bikes in, there break in period is, wide open down the street for 5 min. and done. but yet they replace top ends every week from racing.
of course... at one time all these motorcross bikes jumped and raced around tracks, but newer bikes will handle and out perform the older bikes, get what you can afford, make sure its clean and in good shape.
i just bought a 1998 rm125 and i fucking love it!

Do you know where I can find a manual or tutorial on rebuilding an rm125 engine? I'm interested in rebuilding my own. Thanks!
