This is still one the most difficult schmups ever made!! It took me forever to beat this game on Normal! This game will kick your butt every which way. But you'll keep coming back for more because TRUXTON is extremely fun. If your a fan of this genre you owe it to yourself to pick up this game. I still have my original Genesis cartridge that I bought in '89. TRUXTON FOREVER!!!

yah man! i remember this game as Tatsujin on the Mega Drive. This game was so hard and annoying, and somewhat scary. i dont know why. i was young. i could never beat the game. the level i usually got stuck on was the area where it looked like light bulbs on both sides of the screen. ugh. Lightning was my favorite powerup. i think im gunna try to find the rom and play this game now haha

Eh, the music's a bit sleepier than the Genesis version. The added drums are nice, though. I like the Genesis soundfx better, too.

Yeah, I'll have to admit, the music is way better on the PCE than in the MD. I wish I could hear the rendition for the last stage's BGM.

Graphically, however, the Mega Drive version is clearly superior.

@KollisionBR I don't know, the Genesis version had deeper bass and was more technical. The PCE version had better treble and was more melodic.

Man no one knows how to play this game correctly. If you never pick up the new lasers then a P appears where the orange laser shows up. If you just follow the mini bosses right after that extra P really closely with the orange laser you can kill them before they even fire. Amazing game, but looks much better on the Genesis.

Beautiful music, as per Toaplan's usual standard. I agree about the PCE version sounding better than the arcade and Genesis versions too, it's got such a nice warm tone to it.

lots of tricks but the best thing is to memorise the patterns as suggested by davbob. after the first cycle the number of bullets on the screen is insane, but by then you have the 5 blue lasers most of the time and zap nearly everything that comes in from the top and sides. any recommendations for best way to record from mame?

i found that you should never have 5 guns never max out your weapons as no more "p" power ups will appear then if you die you will have to collect 5 all over again which at later stages is impossible. always try to have 4 "p"s then if you die the next one to appear is usually a p

good clip, thanks for sharing. totally loved this game when it was in the arcades (mid '90s), got the MD version (rubbish) and then the mame (excellent, true to form). mini (read: sad) claim to fame on this game is that i managed to complete 3 whole cycles (i.e. level 600+) on the arcade machine (hard mode) without dying... had to go home in the end, had to leave it for my friends to continue.

I own the game and I can't past the third stage. If you enjoy tearing your hair out like I do, then get this game Digi. It is ridiculously harder than MD version though. This is the one PCE game that needs a tate mode.

Well,basicly the music in this and the Megadrive/Genesis version is equal. Though I personally find the latter one a bit better (16-bit sound has something in itself). =) One good shoot´em up classic worth to remember (and get a copy of). Nice graphic,even better music and a long replay-value.

interesting play through. I only played the Genesis version of this game (don't know how or why I got it) and it's pretty tough...but you're right about the music in this version. MUCH better on the ears if you ask me.

Make NO mistake about it... this game is *just* as very tough in the PC-Engine version as it is in the arcade, except with even BETTER music and sounds!! ;)

All around, it is a great translation for the system if I do say so myself!!! ^-^=b !
