These ab workouts work the abs AND the neck muscles... its supposed to feel that way... I did it in the first week and my neck did hurt but it wasn't the joints but the muscles in my neck... then after 3 days my neck is ok as it has adapted to the exercise and my neck looks more define and tight! You know like when you turn your neck around or turn it left to right it looks better and more define...
@jay987gee putting your neck in flexion like that is never great. Certainly not a common position in sports so why train that way? Crunch type exercises are outdated.
@YAYA2ish Your probably moving your neck, so keep it still. I think you're supposed to flex your abdominal muscles (idk). I wouldn't use this particular exercise they have other very easy and useful ones. Try this crunch (probably improper form but it works); keep your feet off the ground moving them in a bicycling motion while putting the opposing elbow to them (left elbow right knee/right elbow left knee). Don't just move your elbow over there; actually twist your torso to make it touch.
@doommic if it's hurting your neck then perhaps you're not breathing properly and also try feel the tension while doing the 'push through' in your upper abs and dont tense your neck keep is loose. Hope that helps.
@cal352 well I know a lot of ppl that tried to get em and got them developed in a few months but I never really tried, I work out my upper body a lot more.
@inspiredathlete Try hanging leg raisers or roman chair leg raisers, they're killers but you'll have amazing abs in no time. Remember to keep your knees bent to reduce strain on the lower back.
@jeobeahon Do 4 sets of bicycles, 4 sets of this exercise, 4 sets of leg raises, 4 sets of weighted sit ups, and 4 sets of oblique crunches. As many reps you can do each set, 1 minute rest in between. It should take about a half hour. Do that once a week and you will build a strong core. Do all with perfect form.
@jeobeahon Once a week. Working them out multiple times a week isn't giving them enough time to heal. If you work them too often you're not giving the lactic acid built up from working out enough time to dissipate. Make sure you warm up appropriately, and look how to do proper, slow, perfect form. For the weighted sit ups put your feet under a couch, hold a dumbell, and come up slowly, and down slowly. Remember, good diet and cardio are more important for your abs to show.
This doesnt train your ''thing'' where your nipples are.
