It's really sad to see that some people are still obsessed with power, even in the symbolic pissing match of "my ancestors were better than your ancestors".
@1980vince Not Italian? It most certainly is. Go check out some of the music from the Venetian School in late Renaissance, early Baroque. The Aztecs were conquered, no doubt about that -- though you have to wonder if they would have been if they were not such a great empire in the first place!
@bookbagged The Mexica had a splendorous civilization. Read Daily Life of the Aztecs by Jacques Soustelle. It details beautifully the life of Tenochtitlan. Also, Smallpox played a very huge part in the "conquest" of the hemisphere.

@FresnoMostwanted you should seek something of Nok Niuk or jorge reyes< also there is a sound track from the picture La otra conquista wich has a blending between music from Spain and Mexico.
I was overwhelmed by SAVAE when I heard Xitlehco on El Milagro de Guadalupe. The Christian symbols, informed by the Nahua mind, changed something in me. Sorry to those that can't translate Nahuatl, it's too much to do here. To the seekers I offer the a paper I wrote; the research for it let me see something new. I think when you truly understand what "ixiptla" means, you come to appreciate why the Virgin Mary and other saints are so important
Right on to queerelf and 1 racehumanrace...but remember that Christianity is the religion of most Nahua today; and has been for going on 490 years. Spanish is the language of the land. If you want to change that we'll need a revolution? Are you ready?
an revolution of the minds is what mexico needs. they are too imprisoned in thier hispanic cultures to even identify themselves aswell as other "hispanic" americans. the liberation should be peacful and should start with schools of amerindian children.
this may not be right for you but i smoked salvia and playd this im going to play it again now to see how it sounds normal but 2 minuets ago it was pulling me in different directions when it felt me start to panic it told me it will be ok as it will be aright after the yessons the yessons moved to my feet then it ended i think i was laughing the whole time lol ... i wrote it down on paper aright after the yessons
i love this song!!! damn NAHUALT is an beautiful language, its bull shit that most mexicans whom speak nahuatl are embarresed to speak the tongue in an overwhelming spanish society... fuck that we need to start learning this language and take back our great culture and stop with this latino and hispanic bull shit!!!
people in the areas of durango, sinaloa, zacatecas, nayarit, jalisco, and for the south, oaxaca, veracruz, tabasco, and chiapas speak it. and they also have another language of their people. mexicans are another new race, of spanish and aztec. thats where the spanish come in, in the center of those states of mexico. when the battle was held for the spanish to conquer.
well actually...DNA results show that the Average Mexican is 80% Native AMerican and it depends by region....the Mexicans of Southern Mexico are usually fullblooded Natives
@1racehumanrace I totally agree. I'm a Japanese-Mestizo Bolivian. Bolivia is the most indigenous Latin American country. I want to learn the language of my ancestors and hope that indigenous languages are taught in Bolivian public schools one day.
Nahuatl means also armony at speak, and this song related originally the fall of Tollan city, i believe afeter this adapted to MAria Guadalupe kwoed also like pregon de atabal was made Francisco Placido
El nahuatl significa tambien armonia hablada, la cancion muestra la caida de tula y creo que posteriormente, se adapto a la Guadalupana
conocido tambien como el pregon de atabal fue creado por Francisco Placido
Actually...you know know some Nahuatl without even knowing it. Chile...cocoa...they pretty much came from Nahuatl. There is about 1.5 million speakers today.
Yep, in Nahuatlatolli, if it ends with a tl or tli its a an object, the language is faily straightforward you just add what you need, like say Tenochtitlan means Tenoch (The Mexica Empire's founder), the t the possesive and the tlan is like Iranian Stan (Place of)
I believe this was a real hymn detailing the fall of Tollan but Christian elements were added on later.

@1980vince Aztecs were conquered and given incentives by missionaries to play European music. Ave Maria isn't from Mexico.
