actually you will find that 'sparkle' or glitter yarn was in use in the 1950s. Some knit patterns for sweaters and cardigans call for a metallic thread yarn for evening wear.
I remember sweater sets. I also remember the "lettermen" cardigan sweater "look". Girls would wear their boyfriend's letterman sweater. For a letterman sweater to be considered "cool" for 1950s teens, you HAD to be able to walk with your hands in its pockets and your arms would remain straight. You then looked hip, cool, and casual. (You also advertised that you had a boyfriend.) If you didn't look like the above-mentioned look, your friends would shake their heads and call you "pathetic".
Of course in later part of the 50s women wore jackets that were actually nice looking, see Balenciaga on google. jackets that were longer. I would have also thought that the skirt would have looked less modern, as that skirt looks average, with its plaiting beginnning so low, emphasising actually an elongated figure.
The tummy is very fifties. I still remember from the early sixtes that many girls had such tummies. And usually the pencil skirts were very tight. The bra is not 50s at all. The bras of the fifties were pointed, and typically worn under plain white blouses.
this is terrible and wrong! and u deffinately do not have a figure for a pencil skirt.
