this mirroring is so true, whenever I draw something on a single paper, I turn it around against the light to see all the mistakes I did. Somewhat scary =)
Thanks for the useful comments in the video, sycra i surely learned a lot once more !
the beautiful model was iunbeatable, but I like your drawing in a different way, in general i like these slightly unsharp drawings, and the music was really nice to listen to
that was brilliant and very informative, a lot of the speed painters dont give the slightest clue as to what they're doing, but yours was excellent!! i cant wait to have a go, 5 stars, and a new subbie!!
Sycra...I would love to know if you use Corel Painter? Or is that a little too rich for computer work?
BTW..as good as Photoshop is...I don't have enough money to afford a new computer to get CS4 Suite. But I did get CorelDraw X3. it has a great Bezier curve tool...far superior to Adobe Illustrator's.
I have Painter, and it's a great program, I just use Photoshop more... Maybe because I'm comfortable with it, I'm not sure. But you can't go wrong with Painter.
Sycra...thank you for changing the background music to this video! This is so much nicer to listen to while watching the clip. Haunting melody. I love it.
wow, i googled your suplies and their really expensive. would there be anything cheaper that you might recomend to some what of a begginer-intermideate artist?
Those things Sycra use are very expensive. I draw by hand and then scan it onto the computer and do the work from there. It's cheaper and, more energy efficient to draw by hand before editing by computer. At least it would make Al Gore happy.
Use whatever you can get your hands on. I paint with a tablet and photoshop about 10% of the time, but 85% of the time I'm using a pencil and paper, and the other 5% would be spent on using real oil paints so... The medium and tools don't need to be expensive. It's just easiest to use digital tools for the purpose of these videos.
cool. i usually draw with paper and pencil too. i was just wondering about the tools you use to add all those efects to the picture. And thank you DorothyFan1 for the tip about the scanner.
Sycra, can you do another one similar to this one and post it? We need to see more just like this one. As for music...classical would be better. Thanks.
Good to see you are back Sycra. We missed your talent here. And this time you even care to post dozens of tips and pieces of advice no less. We are all proud to have you as a tutor.
That is sssoooooo cool!!!!Sycra you are like one of the best artists!howdo you know all this stuff to do on photoshop?all the places you had to go to looks really complexO_O....any way cool drawing!!!
Read the info in the description box. He clearly lists the Wacon Intuos tablet. I checked the price on this thing...about 500 bucks. I can't afford that.
I can measure it today I have intuos 6x8 and cintiq and I have all the wacom pens. classis, 6d, airbrush and 2 of the standard pens that come with intuos. guys check the tablo here on UT NCIXcom made yesterday review on that
on 64 vistas psCS4 64 ver more than 50 degrees all directions. Tested on cintiq and intuos 6x8 The PS CS4 need the update released in February there were some issues with 6D pen rotation Naturally PS never support 6D pen like Painter X but it can be adjusted in Brush control F5 Hope this helped
wow truly incredible. I have a wacom myself but all the fiddly application bits infuriate me so i tend just to give up and draw in pencil again, drawing on paper also helps because on the tablet i have a bad habit of zooming in and drawing details too soon. I am a big fan keep up the good work
sanskarans...have you tried drawing from the imagination? It's extremely hard. I know. I've done this myself. Drawing from life is best...but to cut corners because of time constraints drawing from a photo reference is okay.
Sycra...looks like you upgraded your copy of Photoshop. Quick tip...deactivate it when you finish using it. Why? Because if your computer crashes...you'll be able to reinstall it and reactivate without any problems. Otherwise you'll have to beg Adobe for permission.
Great. This is really helpful. But as you said it is nice to draw from imaginary than drawing it from a photo.Drawing fro imagination is something a real artist should do.
nice work thx for sharing. I paint in Painter and since I have cintiq and regular display I have photo open on one and cintig is just painting so I can use the whole space wacom rocks. Anyway I like PS for prep work trace etc and then work in Painter is more natural. I also like the 6D pan which in painter is the best thing thank you for sharing very nice job
Thanks alot! I really needed help with this kind of thing.
And usually when I paint from a reference photo in CS4, I use the Eyedropper tool to get the color i need from the original photo. Is that good or is it cheating? Kinda like tracing?
I would try guessing the colour yourself with the palette, then you can use the eyedropper tool to see how close you were to the real colour. That way you'll learn a lot about colour. Just using the eyedropper won't teach you anything and so I can't recommend it.
That's really good!

In the end you couldn't beat the photo... but that's not what art is about
it wasn't about beating the photo it was about the photo inspiring you to do a new girl painting
Sycra what can you tell me about brightness - saturation relationship
lower saturated colors always have higher luminosity
Does that mean that if i lower the saturation i have to lower the brightness too in order to keep the value?
PS
That girl is sooooo adorable!

Not that im professional, but I drawn some portraits and figures and if u want you can try this advice:
try constructing figure, not drawing it line by line.. same to face
it helps alot trust me. I'll show you what I mean soon if you want. (waves hand)

Gosh, what a pretty model! She vaguely reminds me of Kristen Bell, but, you know, softer. :)
I can see what you mean about it being hard to transfer that to your painting, though it was also very lovely.
This was a lot of fun. A great view of how an artist uses photoshop, especially the so-called "cheats" I don't see so often on other videos.
