No, the 06-07 WRX STI was the one. The 3 piece grill was FUGLY. The 5 door hatchback took alot of getting use to but the front face of the 08-09 is the most ferocious design. With a price tag of $38,000, the poor cannot touch it!!!!!

I don't know why everybody is dogging the 08 WRX so much. I love the "sleeper" aspect of this car. I drive one and I got it because of the enginering and the engine not the body. If you like the EVO, go buy one then fix it in 3 months. Bottom line is, I got quality and most of you ripping on the 08 WRX are probably driving around 95 honda civics. SUCK IT
They now have much narrower rims, similar to the 94 models.. like 5.5 inches wide (yep).
I like the look somewhat, but the rims, brakes, and also the cableless accelerator is bad. I like a accel cable as oppossed to the electronic throttle crap..
Its lighter, but not as fast as the 03-05 models.. i test drove it, it is much nicer, but no where near the drive of my 03 for those wondering.
The seats are thinner (cheaper), the seat bottoms that you actually sit on, are now flat. Thats right no bucket support down low. They have smaller disc brakes. also, 2 spot instead of 4.:(

Next year subaru should ditch the awd and the turbo and put the old 1.8l na motor back in it so it gets 32mpg on the way back and forth from the beauty salon!

There is NO sedan version of the 2008 WRX and on. That is what sucks... If people want to buy an ugly car with a great engine, go ahead and do it, but Subaru should keep building WRX sedans. Subaru could care less about the looks and more on the performance. If you've noticed, most of the cars in rally races are hatchbacks. Being a hatchback really helps on cornering during a rally race. Helps them avoid those evil big rocks that always seem to be perfectly positioned to hit the wheels. I want whats under the hood not the outside. The outside can always be changed with bodykits and such.
Let's hope Subaru has finally fixed the inherent coolant leak(s) and cylinder head gasket blowout problems they've had on their 2.5L engines since the 2001 model year.

That is the ugliest Subaru ever made. I always loved the boxer engine noise and the subarus power coupled with apparent indestructability. The 2008 WRX looks WORSE in person than they do in pictures. I talked to my local Subbie dealer and he says that lots of women are buying new Imprezas, but he can't give the WRXs away. Not selling. Plus, I've yet to see one on the road. Anyone who says the new WRX looks good probably works for Subaru!
Personally I like the new look, and practicality. In July, the local dealer paraded about 12 of these cars through the city. In person, and driving alongside these cars, they truly show theyre exotic beauty! Also, the hot hatch look is more redisent of a rally car. The lancer wins on looks, yes, but for the true enthusiast..the person who will actually race this car on the weekends, this car is truly visceral...If you havent taken the time to see one yet, DO SO!! 5 stars
I think the car looks great when it is viewed from the side and rear but the front end is odd. The grill looks like an old person car while the rest looks very sporty. Odd combination.

This dude, Todd Lassa, doesn't know what he's talking about. The seats are not a "carry-over." The seats are totally redesigned. And they are comfortable - an improvement from the 2006 WRX. Also, rear interior room has not increased. Rear leg room is basically the same.

I think they benefit from having a race-car style model instad of just everyday plain ones. Legacy can handle that, or at least having two different imprezas hatch and sedan ?

This car strays so far from what the WRX is and is meant to be. Don't try to make it more adult, it has never been an adult's car. Its supposed to be rugged, agressive, and quick. Save these designs for the Legacy, not the WRX. Two thumbs down for me!

what tha hell happened, they just destroyed the impreza, they should've try with something like the "Legacy GT WRC", insted of that thing. that car should not be call Impreza. And the Lancer Evolution OH MY GODDDDD Beautifullllll so amazing and you should look the production lancer its incredible too.

The 2008 WRX looks WORSE in person than they do in pictures. I talked to my local Subbie dealer and he says that lots of women are buying new Imprezas, but he can't give the WRXs away. Not selling. Plus, I've yet to see one on the road. Anyone who says the new WRX looks good probably works for Subaru!

Personally I like the new look, and practicality. In July, the local dealer paraded about 12 of these cars through the city. In person, and driving alongside these cars, they truly show theyre exotic beauty! Also, the hot hatch look is more redisent of a rally car. The lancer wins on looks, yes, but for the true enthusiast..the person who will actually race this car on the weekends, this car is truly visceral...If you havent taken the time to see one yet, DO SO!! 5 stars

I think the car looks great when it is viewed from the side and rear but the front end is odd. The grill looks like an old person car while the rest looks very sporty. Odd combination.

Holy crap! They turned one of the most unique and cool looking car into looking like just any old, boring japanese car. The new Lancer, on the other hand, has never looked better! I have to change favourite now. Damn...

I hear you guys! But.. Subaru is getting spanked in the WRC by all the smaller monster hatches, I can guarantee this car will be more competitive in a Rally! the wheels are pushed to the corners the car has less of an ass now, which should make it much more nimble.

ugh nothing beats the 04 model, it was much nicer and aggressive looking, this thing looks so blah the d pillar looks like the mazda plus gives much more blind spot it's horrible, European hot hatch it's Japaneses! make it look jap! the only good thing about this car is the back seat and it's still smaller than the competition what bs! subaru you have dissapointed me for the last time!

I love Evo's but always respected Scooby's both in looks and preformance, both new cars dont have half the looks of the old models but at leat the Evo doesnt look like its had its balls chopped off! tis a shame.

2 words.....HOLY HELL!!! that is ugly! and I like subaru too but they went TOO far on this model. I loved the 07 model but they killed it now. I personally think the evo x looks much nicer and more aggressive. This doesn't even look like a sports car!

This dude, Todd Lassa, doesn't know what he's talking about. The seats are not a "carry-over." The seats are totally redesigned. And they are comfortable - an improvement from the 2006 WRX. Also, rear interior room has not increased. Rear leg room is basically the same.

the new impreza looks like wack. they totally destroyed the essential "Look" of a subaru impreza. i love subaru impreza (esp. the 05 body sti spec) over the evos but now im more inclined on the design of the evo 10 since it kept its race car theme but with a touch of elegance.

I think they benefit from having a race-car style model instad of just everyday plain ones. Legacy can handle that, or at least having two different imprezas hatch and sedan ?

This car strays so far from what the WRX is and is meant to be. Don't try to make it more adult, it has never been an adult's car. Its supposed to be rugged, agressive, and quick. Save these designs for the Legacy, not the WRX. Two thumbs down for me!
