@walleyrt69. The real reason why black people are moving to the suburbs is because the cities are so corrupt by crime .so some black people move to the suburbs. The only thing is that, for some reasons unknown, the corrupt(ghetto) black people follow them in the hope that they can turn that suburb into a ghetto.

I live in a poor neighborhood in California and I have noticed quite a few white people moving in, in a majority black ,latino neighborhood. Alot of whites are falling out of the middle class, there going to realize that they have been lied to.

True, I live in a small town in the mid-Atlantic and whites left our black and italian neighborhood in the 60's and 70's. Now they are moving back to the very areas they fled!

People in diversity programs are actually cheering that suburbs are becoming more 'diversified', while whites are disappearing literally from the globe. The cities continue to become more and more minority population while suburbs become more and more minority populated.

Diversity is dying, it isn't getting stronger.

Europeans are part of the rainbow too, whether they like it or not!

Notice how they talk about diversity when they show majority black children in the class.

Diversity can't exist without white people, but America thinks whites are the enemy of diversity, instead of thinking they are PART of it.

People are truly sick, when they hear that white will be a minority in 2050 and yet demand our communities should still be split up while keeping segregation alive in minority communities.

Unfortunately, the school system in South Orange isn't that great anymore. Test scores have plummeted. While South Orange is considered an upper middle class suburb, it's test scores are at the bottom of upper middle class towns in NJ. In fact, it's test scores are on par with working class Italian-American suburbs like Bloomfield and Belleville. Ironicly, these towns spend a fraction of the cost per student that South Orange spends, and get better results.

pv: I guess that all races want better schools and neighborhoods for their kids (not sure whether exurbs offer them or not.) And it is wealth (class) and not race that determines where we end up. This is how I have always thought that affirmative action (if we have it at all) should work... by household income level and not by race. (Would be a good video topic for you actually. :-) )

The oft overlooked good news is, mostly black towns like Ladera Heights, Baldwin Hills & View Park in Los Angeles; Olympia Fields, IL; Mitchellville, MD; Bowie, MD; Ft. Washington, MD all have homes and incomes which greatly dwarf those of white neighborhoods. In fact, the blackest neighborhoods of LA are now more affluent than the average white town in the US. The price of a home in Atlanta's tony, white Dunwoody wouldn't buy a condo in the black area of Carson, CA. So... make news about that.

Whenever we hear news about blacks in general, it's always, 'poor blacks'. I guess this buoys the self-esteem of the many poor whites who need to believe that, although they may be poor, at least it's not as bad as being black. This also caters to poor blacks that use discrimination to justify where they are.

Protean: I just heard it mentioned on MSNBC that OH's democratic voters are among the poorest in the nation. Since they are breaking for Hillary in a big way and are generally referred to as "blue collar white democrats" I am pretty sure the poor people of Ohio are white. Isn't it interesting how you never hear about that, but are constantly told about the poor blacks in Detroit and DC? One of the biggest "secrets" around is the story of impoverished whites in this country.

Im black and I have worked in some of the poorest white areas in America, this was in the Ozarks. The level of poverty that these people were dealing with was depresing. But do you know the problem of why their plight is such a "secret"? Its simple, these people for a some reason consistently vote against their interests by voting for Republicans. True 92% of Black children live in poverty, while it's 50% of White children live in poverty. But, aside from the extreme poverty of Native reservations (esp. in the southwest and up in the Dakotas), the worst is Appalachian poverty, a dominantly white area. Mississippi Bayou, all Black, is also extremely poor. So, depends how you look at it since Appalachia is a huge region

The reason that homes in mostly black neighborhoods go for less is because blacks are the minority. Most whites (like most blacks) don't wish to live around only blacks. When we're dealing w/expensive homes, only so many blacks can afford such homes, so they can't demand the same price as those in whiter neighborhoods.

As housing prices rose in 2005/6, many urban blacks took their equity and fled to the suburbs for more space & safer neighborhoods. In LA, many Latinos were moving into previously black neighborhoods and Spanish was supplanting English, alienating many blacks. It's sort of a 'black flight' from the very neighborhoods whites fled years ago.
