If you run everything in memory you can, I believe. An example would be a linux live cd. You just can't save anything without some external storage media. You need CDs, DVDs, or a flash thumb/zip/jump drive for saving info.

@ajwcook yes you can boot off a usb or other storage mediums but it will be much slower unless its a monster usb. Just get a harddrive its not worth the usb

@ajwcook lol definitely not. Its what has your operating system on it. If you try and boot up a computer with a HDD in it, your BIOS would just end up telling you it can't find a HDD.
