Actually Chekov didn't meet Khan. The episode: 'Space Seed' was in the first season, but Chekov only joined the team in the second season. How does Khan recognize him? Oh, and the trailer is good.
This was surely the best StarTrek. Photography awesome, awesome music, awesome storyline, clever, cerebral and compatible with what was expected of a film version of the series, without resort to conflicts between people and star wars. A true journey into the unknown, to save humanity. TMP was the best of StarTreks, and this did not betray its essence.
As far as where Khan learned Klingon proverbs-recall from the Star Trek episode
"The Space Seed" he fell in love with The Enterprise's ship historian who willingly went into exile with him. It is very likely she tought him the ways of Klingons,Vulcans, Romulans ect. That historian was probably Khan's wife whom he mentioned that died
So Kahn gleaned the Klingon proverb from the original 1701's "technical manuals?" Failing that, he'd have to from the Reliant's databases. It's dubious he would spend such time on such esoterica on the latter given his obsessive mission. Upshot...he had no way of friggin knowing that supposed "Klingon Proverb."
@howelldrake What you have to take into account is that while these ships are fast, most journeys still take days, if not weeks. Space is a big place....so I would say he had plenty of time to read....
Agreed, this shows how intense, and hard edged the film was. What makes it the best in the series is that it was unlike the usual tone of the films. On the Internet Movie Database, it's the only Trek film that has "thriller" as a genre keyword:)

This was a very good attempt. And who gives two sh75s why Khan quoted the klingon proverb? It was a good line! Some of you people need to get lives!

A Klingon bird of prey crashed on Kahn's planet several years earlier and they were able to salvage some of the literature.
