I think you can get that "secret level" trick to work quicker if you change between trevor and grant while the bottom of their feet are off screen down the stairs.

I didn't think you could beat it though, I thought it was just a NES braindamage clusterfuck.

The glitch level is where the game is trying to load data in a part of the rom not designated as level map data. I got it to happen as well in CastleVania when I hacked the rom where the stairs in level one went up off the top of the screen.

You forgot to mention, that the Japanese version of Castlevania 3 (Akumajou Densetsu) used the VRC6 sound chip, developed by the same company - Konami, which featured two additional pulse waves with different pulse widths than the original ones from the NES microprocessor and one sawtooth wave. Sadly, the NES didn't featured those soundchips like the Famicom did.

The "secret stage" isn't a secret stage at all.  It happens in CastleVania as well and is just where the rom tried to load a level from data that's not a level.

Best accomplishment in any game I did was way back on the snes game non other then castlevania IV for the supa nes(where the classic games still owns todays games). Everytime you beat the game it becomes harder and harder. I beat the game several times without dying(in supa castlevania 4)
