  • I find it funny that people are arguing over this.

  • to sum it up:

Traditional Church: "Don't mind me, I'm just going to church!"

Church at the movies: "LOL NICE TIE, FAG!"

I think it's clear who's more Christlike here.

  • To my mind it is anti-advertisment for this church. All I see from ads is about appearance and music. Kind of shallow.

  • I don't see how this video is insulting or saying one church is better than another. It's simply pointing out how silly it is to worry about what we wear on the outside when God is more concerned about our hearts. In other words, God doesn't care if you don't wear a tie to church. He cares that you come with a soft and responsive heart.

  • Watched some of your vids......I have a question;

If I come to you with a knife in my back. I have 3 minutes to live. I say to you, I know I've done wrong and I want to know how to get into Heaven. PLEASE tell me what I must do?

Your answer.....? Note, now you have about 2 minutes left to answer. PLEASE hurry.......?????

  • the very first church was a nude church. Adam and Eve were buck naked.

  • Neither church wants you to feel comfortable, they want you to think you're going to hell if you don't support them.

  • these are ridiculous. sorry, but they do not prove one "church" is better than the other church. maybe they would offer a suggestion to someone who wants to go to church but doesn't like the old southern baptist or methodist traditional service. but i think it defuses what the christian life is about; loving God, and loving others. to step on someone to win anything is unethical, biblically and across all areas of philosophy. this video just shows the bigotry of "church at the movies."

  • Dressing up to go to church and be holy for one hour is not the best way to live the Christian life.

Christians ARE the Church, we gather together to fellowship, and share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others and to feed our Soul with the Word, which we should do everyday, not just Sunday morning and Wednesday night.

Dress casually and DO church everyday.

BE the Church, don't just go to church

  • My father, and my father's father taught me to respect one another. Out of respect, I would dress nicely to attend someone's wedding. Out of respect, I would dress nicely at someone's funeral. Out of respect, I would dress nicely at my place of work. Surely, out of respect for His temple, which I am (and so are you), I will dress nicely. I get the whole 'comfortable' thing, but as in the days of Neimiah, it is time to rebuild the gate, and throw out Tobiah's furniture.

  • I`m sorry...but.....what the hell are you guys on?

  • Wasn't funny. In their attempt to be "hip" and "relevant", they merely mock and make fun of more traditional Christians. How 'bout demonstrate some radical Christian love and charity? Now that would be "cutting edge".

  • @ChurchOfTheWay, that's exactly what I was thinking. I don't get the rationale behind promoting your church by tearing down and mocking other Christians.

  • I have been attending this church all my life. This video was not meant to bash the traditional church but to promote our new site church at a movie theater. Showing the recording from the previous night on the big screen allowed us to provide a more casual experience for those who enjoyed the message but were not as comfortable in the "traditional" church environment.

  • @Abbielou523

Not to be disrespectful, but if that's the case, why not just watch it on youtube?Church is about community and accountability (or should be), not avoiding one another by sitting in the dark and jetting out when the movie credits are rolling.

FWIW, I'm not a traditionalist. I think there is a middle ground though.

  • why are Christian attacking eash other now. we are all the family of God, so why are you attacking your family

  • I'm sure the point to this was to highlight the difference between the church at the movies and traditional churches. But do you have build yourself up by tearing others down? The beauty of the Body of Christ is that there's a place for everyone - traditional and at the movies.

  • This video is stupid cause it is christian, lol. Nooo, just kidding.

  • Boo.

  • I don't think it is mandatory to wear your best to church, but shouldn't we give our best to God? I once saw a Pastor give a sermon in a chargers jersey and I thought it was very disrespectful.

  • @MrTraitorX Or perhaps you should be more concerned with the intent behind the message as opposed to the clothing of the messenger? If you have even remotely read the bible I would have figured you would have gotten that message. Jesus and his people wore ratty robes, not fine linen. Get over yourself. You make a mockery of your faith with statements as shallow as this. Giving your best to your god entails giving your heart's best, not your wallet's best.

  • wow, the guy on the right is soooo cool. And this video deals with all kinds of important Christian issues! (barf)

I love how these 'hip Christian' videos--the hip guy is always a loving, accepting guy--except to traditional people. Humm....

  • The most important thing do they use their bible or never open it?

  • one word.....EMERGENT!!!!

  • It doesn't really matter as long as it works for you and you are serving the lor form your heart. Read 1st Corinthians 8 and do not let your beliefs affect a weaker brother's faith

  • you both suck

  • Hahah! We are a church in the cinema....

  • Like most aspects of Christianity, and life in general, the danger lies in extremism. You have to find a balance between the two, neither being like the Pharisees judging everyone and holding their traditions on the same level as God's Word, nor being too accepting of worldliness and losing the sense of fear [awe/respect] of God. We should reach people where they are, and avoid trying to put them in a Christian mold, but when God has control of their life He will change them from the inside out.

  • Why do you think tradition kills?

  • tradition kills

  • it dose not matter what you wear to church god knows your heart. thats what this is saying.

  • Are you tired of those "Traditional" Churches where they quote scripture, teach salvation, and convict a person of sin?

Come to a "Hip" church where they won't! You won't ever need feel the need for repentance or learn the truth of scripture again. You won't have to worry about salvation anymore and can focus on the distractions of the world without any more interruptions!

  • hahaha

the sad part is, that's what a lot of churches are actually becoming...

  • Hence the Emerging/Emergent Church movement. There's a church like that that meets at the movies in a city where I used to live. They even serve soda and popcorn so you can just kick back and hang loose. It's called a church "service" for a reason. The word "service" implies work. Spiritual work. If I'm going to God's house, it isn't ABOUT looking my best but think about what his Son did. The least we can do is clean up and present ourselves as a living sacrifice--holy and acceptable.

  • i wear skinny jeans and wife-beaters to church, but quit bein a dick to traditional churches. (never know, they might start to call you 'emerging church', hahaha) but seriously, community (i.e. church) isnt about dress code. that goes for both traditional and non-traditional churches...

  • Dressing formally is a sign of respect for God himself.

  • Wasn't funny.

  • agreed this video is stupid

  • STUPID VIDEO - CASUAL EQUALS PIETY?

  • God hates the sin, not the sinner.

  • only a clip on tie! he can't wear that to church ......

    (just kidding :P)

  • they mis the pedophil priest

  • The "church at the movies" guy is really rude in this video. I'm not sure who this is supposed to be promoting.

Since when was church all about making people comfortable.

  • Or, better yet, ask THE Father. :)

(Side note, ties are symbolic of a leash and collar.)

  • This is actually the perfect spoof to show how the new christians try to recruit. Just as owning a PC is "so yesterday" and everyone should get an Apple, christians try to guilt people into believing the shit they believe.

It's all superstitious propaganda, and christian fucktards everywhere should be ashamed of themselves, but aren't, because they're all pieces of shit.

  • Church at the movies! What a title!?

  • "Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.."

    - Jesus Christ

    ..remember him? PRAISE THE LORD!!

  • whats the intention

  • COME ON!

The Christians who belong to the more traditional churches are often times more open minded and accepting than you "evangelical" Christians who put on an "accepting" front, just because you wear jeans and T-shirts to Church!

    HYPOCRITES.

  • Terrel Owens When he was on the eagles team did that automatically make the eagles team cocky and arrogant or was it just terrel owens? you are being a bit broad with that crical thought don't you think... in large the church body is great and non-hypocritical according to your use of the word but there are a few in every church that bring a bad name to christians and the church in large does have issues it needs to work out but you cant place such a broad criticism on all christians

  • Isn't this what this ad is doing, making broad statements about 'traditional' church goers? Not all people who attend 'traditional' churches listen to music like in the first clip, and wear ties and suits as in the second clip. Many people who attend my 'traditional' services wear what ever they want. You must remember that Christ wants us to come as we are and for the church at the movies to say that all traditional people wear suits and ties to church is an incorrect and broad statement

  • I tire of people looking down at people that dress up or dress down. "Oh we are too hip and cool to wear ties, so that makes us superior to you." You Christians are always slamming each other.

  • amazing how these people STILL think they are different! EVERYONE is doing this emo hipster rock and roll mtv church bs now. EVERYONE!!! Its not an alternative it is MAINSTREAM!!! And most of them just download sermons from pastors dot com and pass them off as their own. WAAAAAAAAAAAAKE UP PEOPLE!!!

  • Why not have church at the strip club? What is our standard here, anyway?

  • Actually, at CLC, we just started partnering with an outreach to strippers in a nearby area that has a very high concentration of "gentleman's clubs". And, believe it or not, we recently received permission from a local club owner ,whose wife just got saved, to have a church service for strippers in his strip club. We are ecstatic bring a church service and the love of Christ to a group of people that would sooner die that grace the doors of our actual church, or any other for that matter.

  • That is an ecclesiastical nightmare.

  • The service will be on Sunday afternoons. -Not during business hours.

  • I think your tie's a little too tight CBsTube.

  • That traditional Church...quite the looker! Look out church at the movies with all your HIP looks, and BOSS atmosphere. I think we both know who will be the most desired selection of this commercial. - Traditional Church
