only what you want to hear, of course this turned an easily fixable Iraq into a decade long intervention in saudi, kuwaiti, turkish, and israeli affairs and no-fly zones to keep the bombs droppin and that oil poppin. They didn't want to turn Iraq into a Chaotic system where Iran could or would gain influence. Iraq was always there as a counter weight to Iranian power and influence in the region. So Saddam was there to counter Iran. Who they, and a lot of Americans, look at an enemy. We believe that they hate us and want to destroy us. So One evil to counter the other.

You libs are all idiots, things changed between 1992 and 2003 you fkn imbeciles.... like 9-11 perhaps?
So what ifd Saddam had squat to do with 9-11, it was an opportunity to remove a dangerous murderous dictator repsonsible for millions of deaths and fight al queda in the sand instead of New York. Dont you knumbskulls get it by now?
How stupid can the left be, so mentally deranged that you think all this conspiratorial crap could even be planned like this. Ridiculous dribble.
Al Queda operates out of Afghanistan and Pakistan, not Iraq.
Saddam didn't tolerate terrorist organizations when he was in charge, because he perceived them to be a threat to his power, which is what he valued above all else.
He was an asshole, for sure, but Iraq was not a terrorist state with him there. Now it is and we can thank the current administration for that one.
Oh yeah and ummm... In case you forgot we helped put Saddam in power during the Iran Iraq war.
@GuzzyVision Iraq was actually one of the terrorist state sponsors. Saddam give money to the PLO and among others to attack Israel and American interests aboard. During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, U.S. Army Special Forces founded one of the world largest terrorist training camps since the fall of the Taliban in 2001 Afghanistan - Ansar al Islam.
And no we did not put Saddam in power during Iran-Iraq War. You're dead wrong and a liar. He actually came into power by himself in 1979.
@acheybrenda We didn't support Saddam until after the Iranian revolution and Iran alliance with the USSR. We see Iraq as part of the Cold War arena and tried to make Hussein allied with the West which backfired. Also we didn't put Saddam in power.
We have "opportunities" to remove dictators the world over. What about Mugabe? What about Kim Jong Il? We can't police the world that way. it's not our right, and we've seent he consequences. Al Qaeda in Iraq didn't exist until we arrived. If that wasn't the case, Sadaam would have had to deal with terrorism all the time. This is no conspiracy: Cheney and Co. just conveniently forgot/ignored all of the reasons to NOT invade Iraq so they could served corporate interests.
I'm completely disillusioned with our government...particularly this administration. I'm honestly ashamed, embarassed, and filled with rage over the past two terms of Mr. George Dub-yah...he is a disgrace to our nation and I cannot wait until he is replaced and cause no further damage to our country...hopefully then we'll be able to salvage what is left of our image abroad.
Iran is a country whose defense spending is less than 1% of our own; spends less on its military than countries such as the Netherlands and Sweden; has never invaded another country in modern history, and could not possibly threaten us
I couldn't agree with you more. But guess what Iran is rich in? It couldn't be oil because the Bush Administration has no interest in that (please note the thick sarcasm).
wow...he actually made sense back than. The years must have gotten the best of him, because based on his latest action, he obviously went fuck nuts...
Cheney is a smart guy and this goes to show he knew exactly what would happen if we went in there, which just shows the level of corruption and hypocrisy in the Bush administration. Does anybody really think it was a coincidence that Halliburton and other contractors got huge no bid contracts. Maybe if the media and the majority of congress listened to the Cheney of of 92' and asked those questions we wouldn't be there in the first place. End the occupation, vote Obama.
Most of this world anguish comes from subservient governments filled with self serving politicians selling out to the wicked International Banker's NWO. Especially the two parties sharing the spoils in America. Americans are to blame for being ignorant and apathetic. Ron Paul is our last chance to have an Honest and Honorable president, with a Non-CFR Rockefeller cabinet.
It is very simple, back then the Us needed Saddam to stay in power, scaring the Gulf states into keeping US bases in the region, today those Gulf states are gladly hosting US bases (CENTCOM in Qatar)without a need for e threat. Saddam was of no use to the US like he was when he invaded Iran and killed the Kurds (with US support). He had to go, regardless of US or Iraqi casualties.
What he said would be true today, but at that point it was right to take down Saddam. The context between the two invasions was different. Si he screwed up twice. He's like an ingrown hair enlarged in my ass.
It's amazing that these people knew exactly what they were getting us into. Without hesitation they invaded this country and right here in this speech he forecasted what has happened. After 3800+ dead in Iraq, an open border which is plaguing the US economy and our security, and a growing defecit I am led to believe that the devil lives in the White House. I hope these assholes spend the rest of eternity roasting in hell.
Concerning war-related deaths (civilian and non-civilian), and deaths from criminal gangs, Iraq's Health Minister Ali al-Shemari said that since the March 2003 invasion between 100,000-150,000 Iraqis had been killed."
The soldiers knew the potential risk of their job, though the gov. is still to blame. But a thing you rarely hear in the media is the numbers of total deaths, especially civilians.
This is near 10 times the 2,974 casualties of 9/11.
They did not invade at that time because Sadam's capability to control the oil in the region was severely diminished by the Gulf War attacks. However, by 2000, he had regained his footing and potential to control Mideast oil. The rest is history . . .
we need to stop this shit now and the people here in the usa are waiting for civil war in this country to break out .if all of us could come together like the people did for the jena 6 only in millons they might listen
Theres an intelligent answer, lets have a massive ass kicking, isn't that what all the lefties are upset about now? You've proved my point space, your upset over the uprising in iraq, but your all for a civil war in this country. That makes perfect sense doesn't it?If the jena 6 are your hero's,god help you.
America is not your mommy. George W. Bush is not your daddy. They don't just deserve your unconditional adoration and devotion. That's not how this country works. You are an imperialist, authoritarian and mildly retarded.
REGISTER REPUBLICIAN NOW: States with OPEN primaries are now CLOSING!!
You CANNOT switch parties after OCTOBER 12 in NEW YORK and NEW HAMPSHIRE and if you are not registered as republican by then, YOU CANNOT VOTE FOR RON PAUL
Double talking scumbag...I guess the war wasn't going to be profitable at the time he gave that speech...I hope he dies a slow death of cancer that scumbag
In 1959, under Eisenhower, rather than expose itself by attempting the assassination of a foreign leader, the CIA sought out six members of the Iraqi Ba'ath party to assassinate the Prime Minister. Among them was a young Saddam Hussein.
Hussein's tale begins in 1959. Dwight D. Eisenhower, then President of the United States, authorized the CIA to undertake the assassination of Iraqi Prime Minister and General Abd al-Karim Qasim.
Don't tell this to CompassionRepublican. He still thinks America spreads "democracy" and doesn't resort to imperialistic actions that you speak of. The question is how can Bush and Cheney, the first 21st Century Fascists, atone for their sins of war. Before the war over oil ends, a million lives will be lost, including women and children. The war will end up costing us over 1,000 billion dollars. Bush & Cheney should have been prosecuted for acts against humanity-Congress doesn't have the will to do so, for they too voted for the WAR. People confuse religion with God.
Christians take the scripture out of context to put thoughts in God's head. They are pros. With the full support of the Christian evangelists, God's words have become a sheer excuse to have people believe that God hates minorities. Christians are liars, hypocrites, bigots, users and abusers of God's words. They have no respect for the meanings of the messages of God in the Scripture. They only want to abuse God's words power by misquoting HIM.
Unlike the religion of peace that says those who don't believe should be bound and their head cut off. Christianity is great religion but we don't go around cutting your head off for not being one.
History will remember Bush Cheney and all as the War Criminals they really are. No spinning that any other way. Not about left&right. We can thank Bush and Cheney for that too!
History will judge them as great leaders. People wanted Lincoln impeached and strung up for hanging reporters, jailing those accused of treason (over 9,000) and starting a war based on a lie. People though history would look at FDR as an idiot for getting involved with the Germans when it was the Japanese that attacked us. They said Reagan was going to bring upon WWIII. Bush will be looked back upon as the man who brought the first true Democracy to that region in history.
Ok, so chenney is not a moron. Therefore he should definitely be tried as a traitor to the United States of America. This exert is material evidence that Chenney later lied to the American People. Previously, his only defence was stupidity, not he can no longer lay claim to that defence.
nothing changed, the situation he outlined, rather the issued faced by the illegal invasion and murder of Sadaam led to exactly the kind of issues that he refers to. What changed was that Chenney got paid to betray American interests by Apartheid Israel and Haliburton
i guess he was worth 4k of us lives now. fuking dick.everything he said is happening now & im sure we will b there for another 5 to 10 yrs, fuking dick
This guy knew everything - no false intelligence as everyone claimed! It just proves politics trumps everything, including thousands of American lives!
We attacked Iraq because they stopped trading oil in US $ and there by flooding the market with US $. This devalued the US $ so they thought that we had to put a government in that would trade in US $. This isn't a reason to attack so they had to lie...
That was just a side benifit. Read "A Clean Break". The Neo-cons and Zionist fanatics have for a long time wanted to invade Iraq and they wrote about it in the late 90's. Most of the authors were Jewish and ended up in power in the Bush 2000-2004 administration. Big Oil is a diversion from the real culprits: AIPAC and the neocons. Iran and Syria are next.
That guy is brilliant. He knew everything that was going to go wrong 11 years before it went wrong! Too bad he wasn't in the administration to warn them about these dangers...

in case any of you libeals dont know what a calendar is, this was PRE 911. America was attacked by Al Queda. Zarqawi was KILLED as leader of Al Queda in Iraq. Wake up and stop living in the past. Liberals lost vietnam and want to lose Iraq. Why? because they are simpletons. I hate war, but realize how complex it is and when America is attacked, you dont cower in a corner and suck your thumbs like a liberal.
Before you start calling people simpletons, perhaps you should do some quick research into the history of Al Qaeda in Iraq. It didn't even exist until after we attacked! It amazing me how many 'simpetons' still think Iraq had anything to do with 9/11
"I don't know where he is. I just don't spend that much time on it, to be honest with you." - George W Bush on Bin Laden, six months after 9/11
"My father had all this political capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it. If I have a chance to invade...if I had that much capital, I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I'm going to have a successful presidency." George W Bush, 1999
one word : Zarqawi, the liberals probably consider him a marter lol. Seriously though, the connection is that Iraq is in the middle east. Sadly, maybe that is over your head. The way to stop terrorism is to promote democracy. Future history books will record: Bush and Cheney won the war on terror and Reagan beat communism. Liberals spent a lot of money on pork and social programs that failed.
If George Bush is so concerned about the war on terror then WHY DOES HE SAY THAT HE DOESN'T CARE WHERE BIN LADEN IS?
Why did we start a war in a country we knew Bin Laden wasn't in? The simpleton here is the person who keeps trying to tie Iraq to 9-11. the only connection is that the tragedy of 9-11 was played to get us into a war with a country that DID NOT ATTACK US. Why was George Bush talking about invading Iraq in 1999, 2 years before 9-11? "One word :Zarqawi" can't answer that.
Because einstien, bin laden is old al queda. Al queda in Iraq is the new Al Quida. Get a clue. Iraq has always been a hotbed for terror. Sadam himself was a terrorist to his people. Because youre protected by GOP and the military, you do have the right still to rant. Its about freedom. Freedom from terror is the current battle were in FWIW. Read more, and get a clue.
"Al Queda?"You mean Al-Qaeda.How can a well read individual misspell"Saddam","you're" and "Al-Qaeda"?Why do you use the possessive form of "Its" wrongly? Are you American or are you just a illiterate American who votes Bush?"Read more, and get a clue"?What the hell are you reading that associates Iraq with 9/11 and Al-Qaeda?What is old and new Al-Qaeda?You're a perfect example of a person who noy able to think for themselves.Lenin called you:" Useful Idiots"
a person who noy able???? a illiterate? You proved yourself an moron by picking at chat conversation as if it was a thesis. Youre whats wrong with liberals. You focus on UNIMPORTANT things and let the world go to hell by sticking your hippie heads in the sand and whining all day. You disgust me.
dear einstein, there are no troop counts by al quida, the whole point is to use cells, many cells and even under torture you cant get at the hard numbers. You dont know anything about insurgencies or terrorism. *sigh*
So... you're essentially saying, "9-11 is old shit. We should forget about that. Saddam Hussein [the first step to learning about your enemy is learning how to spell his name...] was a much larger terrorist than Bin Laden." That's an interesting stance. You're not interested in bringing to justice the people who were behind the 9-11 attacks?
I would also like to point out that, due to your poor grasp of syntax, you defined Albert Einstein as being "old al queda". Funny.
Why were we attacked? Was it because are are free and woman can vote? Is that what you believe? If not, then you can start down the long road of discovering how our foreign policy in the Mideast has made us these enemies. And what the hell did 9/11 have to do with Iraq? God you are so misinformed. Exactly the type of person the government loves!
We were attacked because RADICAL ( note i did NOT say all muslims) muslims hate the west and our friends Israel. This started on clintons watch in 93 in the TWIN TOWERS...so dont give me this moveon crap. I do know whats going on, but obviously you just listen to cucinich and wave peace signs at everyone lol~!
Wow, so this is what a Bush-bot is like. Stop looking at everything as Democrat-Republican! I am a registered Republican and never would associate myself with most liberals. Arabs hate the West because we are meddling in their internal affairs constantly and blindly support that terror state of Israel. People like you annoy the hell out of me.
Youre about as Republican as Ron Paul. Paul is a anarchist/libertaria. I'd say that describes you to a tee as well. You try to hijack the GOP because you know they are mainstream. too bad youre not. Sorry charlie lol! Ron Paul may be better than hilderbeast, but that's NOT saying much!
ron paul is more republican than any one else its just that republicans have clearly lost there way in a new neo con world where to them middle east is the enemy i mean what we are doing out there is the new american century just google that ironre the people who claim it says that bush did the attacks but check out what it said about the middle east its some pretty crazy shit
Funny how this information was made public 10 years before we went back into Iraq but is only now being played again, as if though it was new insight. The Dem's Capitulated with Bush and the neo-cons to thrust us into this unjust war and are now using it to play to people's emotions. Shame on them for doing this and shame on us for letting it get to this point.
The thing I don't get is most U.S. citizens already knew all this when they were beating the drum to go in. What happened?
How come only a few of you supported us when we were screaming this was a bad idea? Why now is this video a big deal? Why wasn't it a big deal in 2003?
The answer to that question is why Bush and Cheney need to size up a jail cell. Their choice, and we'll supply curtains.
CHeney and Bush are fucking fool, cunt assholes. THey are just a bunch a lying sluts who persuade the ignorant americans(conservatives) to trust them. BUsh is a dumb bitch, he couldn't wipe his own fucking ass!
What exactly changed in 12 years?? Where's the highly touted WMD of Iraq? Listen to his final remarks on how many soldiers lives were worth sacrificing to bring Saddam to Justice. How many has he sacrificed now?
Why were so many good soldiers lives sacrificed because of faulty or manipulated intelligence? What is the end result and exactly how is America more safe now than it was under Saddam's Iraq?? And how many is the "not too damn many" that Dick is talking about??? Hipocrisy is what blackens the souls of man, and is enemy to God's Trust...
We've already had one "Tricky Dick", so I dub thee "Tricky Dick II"....
America is more safe now because we have taken the fight to the terrorists. By eliminating Saddam and establishing a free and democratic Iraq, we have forced the terrorists to confront our military in a foreign country full of Muslims. As they killed Muslim women and children they are isolating themselves.
yeah, that was before he got hooked up with halliburton and a scheme to make obscene money with an endless war. yipee! even have a private army like blackwater for serious gangster muscles, too! iraq oil, money from the u.s. treasury, his own personal army, jesus, how sweet it is!
They rigged the votes. The fact is is that they are criminals and lost both elections. If you hate innocent people who have done nothing to you then I don't care if you hate me. You are not the type of friend I would want anyway. Hate Bush and Cheney sure, but just hating all Americans just makes you out to be an ass just like them.
9/07 minus 9/92 = 15ys. Golly, look how young and hansome he used to be! So winsome and carefree...what a shame. The war really has taken a toll on all of us!

they were greeted as liberators, the news media chooses not to show you those images. They choose not to show all of the good that has been done in that country. They choose not to show these things knowing that people like yourself are too lazy to find out the truth. Talk to the soldiers that are there, let them tell you about the progress, the kids, markets, schools. Investigate for yourself and don't let the media tell you what is happening.
You're missing the point. Sure Iraqis were happy as hell to see Saddam overthrown. Once they realized we were there to stay, they got angry and decided to resist the occupation.
At any rate, U.S. bombing campaigns were pretty indiscriminate and devastating to Iraqi infrastructure. Many civilians became "collateral damage." Those who witnessed this never greeted coalition forces as liberators, because nobody thinks killing grandmothers and toddlers is a positive thing.
#1 - Iraqis arent the insurgents. #2- collateral damage was kept to a minimum and they had very little infrastucture to begin with. What we should have done was bomb the place from north to south and east to west like they used to. Then you have the people's attention, they are far more likely to listen and the ones from outside far less likely to get involved.
Dude, are you fucking kidding me. A direct quote from a friend who came back from Iraq, 'We have royaly fucked up that country for the next 40 years'. But yeah, schools n kids n stuff...
So, one supposed friend knows whats best fro Iraq. Whatdid he do in the military? Infantry, nurse, cook, dozer operator. Just curious. For your one friend I have heard countless soldiers interviewed and families of soldiers interviewed that speak of all the good that's being done. Who are we to believe? Get a life asshole
I personally know 3 people (1 cousin) who have returned from Iraq. They all unanimously agree that the invasion & subsequent occupation was a mistake, and that our continued presence will inflame the conflict.
All 3 were US Army ground troops, by the way, and have told me plenty of horrendous stories, alongside an unfortunately small handful of positive stories.
I recommend you enlist to serve if you support the cause, the military could use the boost in actually meeting recruitment goals.
I find the end of our civilization is nearing, not to unsettle you, but to reassure you that this all really does not matter. : ) Cheer up, how long are we here for. You all ought to be a positive leader, lead by example; that's what I say!
MW, you assume too much about me. I have talked to soldiers that are there. Any good that we could have done or even started to do in 2003 has been undone by 3 years of incompetence, too few troops, and underestimation of the sectarian situation.
The point of my comment was that Cheney knew full well and predicted the consequences of our invasion. He just didn't fucking care.
Do you believe that on every vote it's only republicans voting for these measures.I believe the lefties have control these days, and it's a 11% approval. You fell for voting the left in office and look where it's gotten ya,a war that they don't have the balls to defund, pretty soon, you'll be paying higher taxes. If they defund it, they will actaully have to put something on the table, we'll see how far they get when ol achbab has a wick hanging out of his sandals at the table.
Your the one that made the comment about cutting benefits, and if you believe there the only ones doing anything, your wrong.I'm still waiting for the solutions from the democrats for what the plan is. I mean what are they gonna do.I do believe hillary and the others voted for the war also. And whats the answer why your political leaders don't defund the war, then they'll have to come home, won't they?
I brought up that Republicans cut benefits, which they did. And many of them voted against the better benefits that the Dems passed this year (not all, of course - as these votes can be used against them in campaigns). The Dems have plans, you just haven't bothered to read them. Hell, Murtha had a plan back in 2005 that was very similar to the Baker-Hamilton plan last year.
What plan, the cut and run plan? Why don't you fill me in on these "plans".The only thing i keep hearing is," we'll talk to them".How in the hell are you gonna talk to the terrorists when the guy your talking to has a wick comming out of his shoe.
The plan was redeployment of most combat forces, and a regional over-the-horizon force of marines for quick response to anything major. How many more Americans have died in the 2 years since Murtha made his plan public? And the situation on the ground is worse actually - violence is up, casualties up, IEDs, suicide bombing, sectarian attacks are all up. Meanwhile, electricity supply is down, employment down, no political agreements made. Tell me what staying these past 2 years has accomplished?
Redeployment, yea thats what i said, cut and run.Isn't that what redeployment is?What happens when we stroll out of there after what has been done.I agree the war was not handled properly, but what now, walk away, sorry guys, have to go now.If you think theres alot of killing now, brace yourself for when we walk out of there.
Everything is worse off says who?Hillary, edwards ,Obama,ol ted kennedy. Some of the top brass has their own kids in that battle, do you really believe they'd put their own children in there knowing it was a losing battle. You must watch cnn, cause their always on the negative no matter what happens. When the U.S. pulls out and theres a couple hundred thousand people laying dead , i'm gonna come back and hear what your gonna say.
only what you want to hear, of course this turned an easily fixable Iraq into a decade long intervention in saudi, kuwaiti, turkish, and israeli affairs and no-fly zones to keep the bombs droppin and that oil poppin. Does anybody really think it was a coincidence that Halliburton and other contractors got huge no bid contracts. Maybe if the media and the majority of congress listened to the Cheney of of 92' and asked those questions we wouldn't be there in the first place. End the occupation, vote Obama.

He had to go, regardless of US or Iraqi casualties.
ghassan981 4 years ago
What he said would be true today, but at that point it was right to take down Saddam. The context between the two invasions was different. Si he screwed up twice. He's like an ingrown hair enlarged in my ass.

It's amazing that these people knew exactly what they were getting us into. Without hesitation they invaded this country and right here in this speech he forecasted what has happened. "After 3800+ dead in Iraq"

Dick Cheney - American Hypocrite
In 1959, under Eisenhower, rather than expose itself by attempting the assassination of a foreign leader, the CIA sought out six members of the Iraqi Ba'ath party to assassinate the Prime Minister. Among them was a young Saddam Hussein.
Hussein's tale begins in 1959. Dwight D. Eisenhower, then President of the United States, authorized the CIA to undertake the assassination of Iraqi Prime Minister and General Abd al-Karim Qasim.

Iran and Syria are next.

in case any of you libeals dont know what a calendar is, this was PRE 911. America was attacked by Al Queda. Zarqawi was KILLED as leader of Al Queda in Iraq. Wake up and stop living in the past. Liberals lost vietnam and want to lose Iraq. Why? because they are simpletons. I hate war, but realize how complex it is and when America is attacked, you dont cower in a corner and suck your thumbs like a liberal.
compassionrepublican 4 years ago

Wake up and smell your shovel.
arlopickens 4 years ago
How ANYONE could EVER believe there was a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda is absolutely incomprehensible to me.
coldice76 4 years ago 6
one word : Zarqawi, the liberals probably consider him a marter lol. Seriously though, the connection is that Iraq is in the middle east. Sadly, maybe that is over your head. The way to stop terrorism is to promote democracy. Future history books will record: Bush and Cheney won the war on terror and Reagan beat communism. Liberals spent a lot of money on pork and social programs that failed.
compassionrepublican 4 years ago
If George Bush is so concerned about the war on terror then WHY DOES HE SAY THAT HE DOESN'T CARE WHERE BIN LADEN IS?
Why did we start a war in a country we knew Bin Laden wasn't in? The simpleton here is the person who keeps trying to tie Iraq to 9-11. the only connection is that the tragedy of 9-11 was played to get us into a war with a country that DID NOT ATTACK US. Why was George Bush talking about invading Iraq in 1999, 2 years before 9-11? "One word :Zarqawi" can't answer that.
arlopickens 4 years ago 3
Because einstien, bin laden is old al queda. Al queda in Iraq is the new Al Quida. Get a clue. Iraq has always been a hotbed for terror. Sadam himself was a terrorist to his people. Because youre protected by GOP and the military, you do have the right still to rant. Its about freedom. Freedom from terror is the current battle were in FWIW. Read more, and get a clue.

compassionrepublican 4 years ago
Who created this new Al Quaeda franchise according to your logic?
Who's kidding who, there was no Al Quaeda in Iraq before the war, and even now they only make up 5 - 7 % of the insurgency.
Saturn501 4 years ago
dear einstein, there are no troop counts by al quida, the whole point is to use cells, many cells and even under torture you cant get at the hard numbers. You dont know anything about insurgencies or terrorism. *sigh*
compassionrepublican 4 years ago
So... you're essentially saying, "9-11 is old shit.
Funny.
arlopickens 4 years ago

coldice76 4 years ago
Why were we attacked? Was it because are are free and woman can vote? Is that what you believe? If not, then you can start down the long road of discovering how our foreign policy in the Mideast has made us these enemies. And what the hell did 9/11 have to do with Iraq? God you are so misinformed. Exactly the type of person the government loves!

they were greeted as liberators, the news media chooses not to show you those images. They choose not to show all of the good that has been done in that country. They choose not to show these things knowing that people like yourself are too lazy to find out the truth. Talk to the soldiers that are there, let them tell you about the progress, the kids, markets, schools. Investigate for yourself and don't let the media tell you what is happening.
mw4350 4 years ago
You're missing the point. Sure Iraqis were happy as hell to see Saddam overthrown. Once they realized we were there to stay, they got angry and decided to resist the occupation.
At any rate, U.S. bombing campaigns were pretty indiscriminate and devastating to Iraqi infrastructure. Many civilians became "collateral damage." Those who witnessed this never greeted coalition forces as liberators, because nobody thinks killing grandmothers and toddlers is a positive thing.
sonofaglitch2 4 years ago 6
#1 - Iraqis arent the insurgents. #2- collateral damage was kept to a minimum and they had very little infrastucture to begin with. What we should have done was bomb the place from north to south and east to west like they used to. Then you have the people's attention, they are far more likely to listen and the ones from outside far less likely to get involved.

Maybe you haven't been paying attention, but the Dems have expanded veterans benefits since they took over Congress.

Tell me honestly what has been accomplished in the 2 years since Murtha first proposed redeployment - other then 1000+ more dead Americans?
ANY tangible improvement on the ground? NO, everything is worse off in Iraq than it was in 2005.
