Obviously this was just driven out of the dealership. And we know there weren't video cams in those days...so I think we have proof of a time traveler. WOW! when you finally got to the front, what a masterpiece that front is not to mention the rest of the car. And that interior!!!! Brings back memories. I think Cadillac could fire up the old factory and sell these very easily.
I didn't think that the rubber bumper strip was available on the "71". If it was, then it would have been on the front too. That leads me to believe that the rear end was hit and the bumper replaced with a "72" bumper , or an after market strip was put on.
@MONKSCASTLE From where did the rubber strip come then? I'm not trying to say anything bad about your car. It is BEAUTIFUL ! I had a "71" Fleetwood. I KNOW how nice they are. The rubber strip does not match up though. If it was an option on the "71", then it would have been on the front too. Only the "72" had the rubber strips as standard. Perhaps G.M. ran out of "71" rear bumpers and put a "72" on? Who knows. It still is an incredible car in ANY case.
@MONKSCASTLE Okay. That explains it. I used to work on mine all the time. I have a newer one now. I can't do a thing to it. With the "71", I didn't even need to loosen anything for an emergency fan belt replacement. I stretched it over the pulley with a screw driver. With the serpentine belt, the new one had to go to the mechanic. I miss being under the hood of the "71". I replaced the entire A./C. from a-z, and the entire braking system from a-z.. I loved that car.
It was rated at 375 H.P. That is deceptive though as they went by "brake" or "gross" H.P. then. It translates into about 220 "net" H.P. that they go by now. Most of the power was from the ENORMOUS torque. This is one NICE car.
They lowered the compression ratio in "72". In "71", it was still 9:1 and changed to 8:2 or 8:1 in "72". The "71" was quicker off the line but not as long legged at top end.
i know i wish i bought my buddys 1972 sedan deville 30k original that fuck left it out 2 winters started to get some rust original perfect paint only payed $1,200 at a brostek auction was gona sell it to me for 2,000 then i said oh wait ill get the cash in a few days he sold it for 6,500 fuck i missed out but oh well i have a muscle car 1972 buick skylark and we have a 1983 cadillac sedan deville and an 84 how many cars can ya have my dad tells me not enough nope we need more lol....
imagine all the black and Italian women you'll get with that !! LOL.....I had a 1971 Buick electra 225 that would suck down the gas.........It hauled ass...I bet that caddy still burns the wheels ! (the only women I could get with mine were fat )....but they loved the fold down seats !
@NragedXX They didn't ride much nicer than this car. That's for sure. In 1974, Lincoln challenged Cadillac and the famous "ride wars" started. The "75" and "76" was the result. Their ride is unequaled anywhere at any price.
yeah shes so clean shes still runs and even smells like new, just under 37000 miles ,,at 38 years old shes also much better preserved than most women ive seen!--har har har!!!!!

the cars from the 70s are basically early models of the navigator and escalade.

These DeVilles were awesome! Didn't like the 75-76 Devilles with those cheap downgraded looking rear quarter windows.

Nice car, I thought the 1971 Cadillacs had only 345hp from its 472 due to it being a lower compression motor
Doobie1975 2 years ago
i think youre right about the hp rating but its only the carb thats tuned down a bit to drink a little less gas

I thought it was 8:5 for 1971 and 1972 and then lowered again for 1973, thanks for the tip
