i got the l1d, works well, the light is a bit greenish (yuck) but it works and sanyo eneloops work just perfect, so its' cheap to run compared to cr123 lights.
Hey cutlerylover. Just ordered my P3D CE q5 from fenix store. i almost got the l1d q5 but the p3d has better output even though the batteries are a ton more money. but i dont mind. I got a nice wad of cash for the holidays since the family isnt quite creative in their gifts so im buying myself a good flashlight. Happy Holidays Man!
I've got a nitecore D10 with GDP LED, I'm rather disappointed with it cos the LED emits a buzzing sound when it's on turbo mode. My other LED flashlights such as Fenix and Eagletac does not have such issues. For those who really want a silent light on turbo mode, the Nitecore GDP is a big "NO".
I love Knivecenter it is laid out the best and the prices are fair, but the shipping is great supper fast. I like it better than knifeworks but that store is still good. newgraham has the lowest prices on most knives but I have not ordered from them.
@cutlerylover im glad you wrote knifeworks, was going to order a fellkniven f1 but the site has crazy cheap prices so it made me feel kind odd about ordering off there but just cause you said knifeworks ima order my fellkniven now :D
heh... the common term is button terminal, but I think I like nipple better.
Some poor quality AA lights don't like rechargables simply because they spend most of their run time at a lower voltage than alkalines and the light has trouble driving the led as strongly. Quality lights like the ones you're reviewing have good boost drivers that don't have such issues.
hello jeff,i was on newgraham looking at this flashlight and i saw that there was both regular l1dce and then the "premium" version. i did research but still couldn't figure out the difference. could you tell me?
The permium has a different LED inside, a bit better for more info go over to candlepowerforums and ask, those guys can explain it betetr than I can, haha...butyeah thats the difference a slighty more advanced LED...
got both of these from "4sevens" dot you know what, lol you cna also get other lights there like fenix models...another great website for light stuf is lighthound...
Yes your right, after a CPF friend of mine watched the vid he gave me the same info...I am not sure where I read it couldnt take rechargables, but its the wrong info...Infact afrter the video the next day I swtiched out the alkaline and put in a energizer lithium AA and saw a difference...
I cant post links but its 4sevens at the usuall dot you know what lol...if you use the candlepowerforums code (CPF08) I think double check on the forums, but you geta great discount!
Looking forward to part 2 of the review, had a look at the Nitecore last time You mentioned them and they are interesting.
I´ll by another light to have in my car along with a good knife but what model and/or brand that will be I dont know. I´m thinking a smaller AA light or single CR123...
JFC these 2 lites are are not the same same size

Jeff you're a responsible guy, you should get back into Surefires. I don't think you'd have an accident again given what you know now.
platyplaya 2 years ago
Accident??..
Why buy weak Surefires when you can buy 4 high power Fenix lights for the same price?
kongso12 2 years ago
because, I've dropped an ld20 and it froze in low mode.
I've slammed a e2l on the ground and it stayed on, no problems.

Great review! Both lights are fantastic choices but I like the UI on the Nitecores a little better than the Fenix line.

Regarding batteries:
L1D-CE: Can use alkaline, ni-mh, & lithium. Li-ion is possible, but you will lose levels
D10: Will use all four.
alkaline batteries generally don't perform well in either flashlights at high output levels.

cutlerylover 3 years ago
You should take a look at streamlight's stylus pro, and the streamlight microstream.
Th two best smallest flashlights I have ever used. And you can find them on ebay for 15 bucks a piece.
