I agree no flash over. Flashover is when all things in the area reach their ignition temperature at the same time. At the begining of this film we see that the structure almost 100% is free burning. When we see that high energy turbulant fire from the window what is percieved as flashover is more likely the change of wind direction. Or an opposing hoseline pushing the fire, but more than likely NOT a flashover. Just an observation from watching, I wasnt there obviously....Just sayin.
Ive seen a flashover explode. But then again what is an explosion. It might not go off like dynamite, but a violent and/or rapid ignition that triggers a rapid expansion is an explosion. You get a good shot 1:50 of the super heated gases igniting in a flashover, and given the right conditions ex. confined space, ventilated or not, yes it can cause an explosion by definition
A flashover occurs when the temperatures in a compartment are so elevated that all combustible fuels reach their autoignition temperature resulting in simultaneous ignition.
well let me help in the definition for everyone saying yes or not flashover. First some questions: 1)What is a Flashover 2) how many time can a place flash?
A flashover is when all the contents of a room are heated to the right temperature that will result in an explosion. The gases released from the fire are still explosive and they are combusted as well at this point. I believe that a flashover can only occur once in a particular area but a fully involved building could have multiple flashovers on the inside.
this is when the fire has entered the attic space...burnt through and vented through the gable end....it is a very common thing in buildings of this type...I am not trying to put u down....it's a very good video...thanks for showing it!

good answer, but one questions, can a flashover explode?
garyco99 2 years ago
A flashover is an explosion. As far as I know at least.

Hi, A flashover does not explode, a smoke explosion is part of a backdraft, which in this case is not a backdraft.

Scratch my last comment. Flashover is when everything is heated to ignition point and then does ignite almost simultaneously.
24Charles01 2 years ago
@garyco99 no only a backdraft

this is not a flashover!

O.K. then what would you call it?
