Again no diesel in US. It's some kind of conspiracy, why the same existing european diesels are routinely denied access to the US market. I guess americans just don't need good gas mileage.
why do i feel like i can give a better speech than any automotive exec/rep. even this guy... um. um. um. um. it's your companies car, be sure you know everything about it.
Now i really dont get it! I see thousands of vws out on the road, some as old as me (im 23) and they are still running like new! :0 VW is also the 3rd largest (poised to become the 2nd) automaker in the world so why in the hell would their cars be bad?? 7 year life span?? Thats just bullshit! This man obviously got his sources from people that never service a vehicle! Either that or he works for gm or toyota! :/
The life cycle of a VW is 7 years?? So If I'm looking to finance and/or keep a car or suv long term, VW is NOT the car for me? Or are you saying that VW only makes changes every 7 years or so?
They mean significant changes, they will keep the style and looks of the car and only change a few things before coming up with a different version for the model.
Hey VW! You don't need a business case for a TDI version, just put the fucking vehicle out with it in North America. What the hell's the matter with you guys. Most lame excuse I ever heard knowing all your other TDI's sell fine in Canada. It's a dumb move NOT to do it - you're not listening to your customers Therefore you suck VW.
@volantorman not like that. EPA testing on european diesels costs an extortionate amount and they fail even the cleanest diesels. its very difficult to do because alot of big shots in charge hate diesel
4 Motion is available on all models, true, but it should be specifically available for mating with a manual transmission - which it is not. Also, what's with the keyless locks? I want a key-option. Also, would be nice to get rid of the antenna, which always hits low roofs (which I have no choice but to explain to passengers as a design flaw).
I have waited for the TDI version of the Tiguan, since the debut, it has a business case, Vw stop your procrastinating. Just bring the Diesel! I know dozens of people who have turned down the Tiguan because there is no DIESEL me included. Get your act together already!!!
@Spyster007 VW aren't going to bring Diesel just for you. They've obviously done their research and found out that there's not enough yanks that want a Diesel, even though it's the better choice.
@dunti21 I am certain there are enough takers, however their planning and marketing department always seem to be about 6 years behind the times. I've given up waiting on the Tiguan, I picked up a TDI touareg last year, but vw will lose many other customers to other manufacturers. It's sad to watch really...
@Spyster007 Well, that seems to be VW USA's problems. VW has brought out their whole new range directed mainly at USA market. Unfortunately, yours are built in Mexico with shitty parts so your reliability numbers are not so good. Otherwise VW is 2nd largest manufacturer in the world, and 1st in Europe, so diesel in USA doesn't seem to be the main objective :-P
@dunti21 actually the only thing built in mexico and sold here, is the New Beetle and Jetta sedan. The Touareg is imported from Bratslavia, slovakia, the Tiguan, golf, cc, golf sport wagon from Wolfsburg,Germany. And the new 2012 Passt from Tennessee....And the Vw Routan in Windsor, Canada...
you got one honest thing right, American roads are not made for sporty vehicles, if anything this car need stiff suspension to protect vehicle's investment. also these vw engine require premium gas, at about $4-5 a gallon these days. why premium for all VW and Audis? if not premium you get carbon build up in the engine, there's a youtube channel for that.
we germans love love love this music you had at the beginning ;) hope you have/ had fun here in germany ! would be cool seeing you guys doing a real offroad test in the us, with a nathan fit as well.
@Raffix394 hey raff nix !!! never heared something ironic, huh. and since when are doing german on an english car blog channel. through up on your self.
more cow bell... definitely need another engine choice as the 2.0T take premium and not a lot of value minded will want that lets hope vw brings the tdi even if its the same out of the golf tdi.
americans don`t deserve the diesel version!

@tepeke88 The seven year life cycle has nothing to do with the durability of the vehicle, he means changes to the model and line up.

@tube02148 they use premium as they have turbos. The higher octane prevents the gasoline from self igniting.
cheers
mahatmacoatmahandbag 8 months ago
@mahatmacoatmahandbag that's sounds more dangerous than a gunk build up. turbo is overrated.
