20 years ago, I always found that Fansidar was the most effective treatment for malaria once you contracted it. 3 tablets and it was gone. Have no idea what they give out these days, or whether it is still available. It was also the only treatment I could use which for some reason didn't cause the itchy hands and soles of feet reaction to chloroquine injections.
