Charles wasn't just a great artist. He was sweetie pie of a person. Anyone that ever had the chance to spend any time with him at all can attest to that. As for Danny Caron? Class act all the way.
The original guitarist on Black Night (ca 1951) was Jessie Ervin, who also plays on Fool's Paradise and others from that period. He toured with Charles as well and was married to his "niece", Joyce, for whom Charles' "Joyce's Boogie" is named.
As a family member of Charles brown it's so good to hear music and poeple still enjoy his music, Here in Texas City, Tx his birth town with his family keeping his music alive.
@eld1957 Hi Eld, I jam with Charles and his guys whenever I can pick the guitar up or sit at the piano. Youtube has opened sooo many blues avenues for me over the last 2 years. Can you tell me which blues venue Charles is playing at on this occasion please?
The guitarist Danny Caron has two great Cds out feauturing unreleased Charles Brown tracks and lots of great guitar playing. cdbaby or the danny caron website has em.
I'm so glad that YouTube has videos of this guy. I never saw him live. This is as close as I'll ever get but it's so fine. Get the original recording from the early fifties also. It'll break your heart.
Great song. I was gonna see what that heavy turnaround lick sounded like on piano, but I guess that was something Bonamassa came up with on his on. Didn't hear it on this.
Thanks for posting! I know this song from the Joe Bonamassa version on Sloe Gin and more recently (for me)the Billy Branch version on Harp Attack. This is great - thanks again.
I love youtube. Just when I thought I couldn't find anything new I stumble onto this player. What a fabulous player and singer. I've never even heard of this guy,but I'll be sure to find out more about him. Any idea where this dvd can be found?
Oh, Charles..I miss you..and Danny, you are so cool. Remember that time in my car when you were enjoying that great "pacific northwest culture?" Charles was in the front seat with me driving, going 4 mph. And he said" slow down, Phil..we ain't in no hurry" Oh, how I miss those days.
Puro sentimiento.Una maravilla.
