  • im looking at the weather forecast there is a forecast for a major heat wave

so here next week youre going to see weather reports from me that has highs between 97 to 105 degrees

  • @supergreatcornholio I do the weather forcast on our local radio station CFSI 107.9 FM also online. Next week we will be seeing highs of 27 C. and I'm not looking forward to it. Working that heat is hell, however if I don't have to work in it then bring it on.

  • @bj616 yeah i know the forecast for friday is 101 degrees or 38C its going to be hell

im going to be mowing the lawn on friday im not looking forward to it

  • @supergreatcornholio If it gets to hot here I either jump in a lake or walk across the street to the ocean for a swim. Last Summer a few areas on our island hit 38 C. Last summer was a killer here.

  • @bj616 same here on august 1, 2009 i recorded a high temperature of 112 degrees

and it stayed in the lower 90s Until 4am The Low Was 82 I Was Under A Heat Advisory For 9 Days In A Row

  • it is Mostly Cloudy The Temperature is 73.2 Degrees

Today Is My 15th Birthday The Forecast For Today Calls For Thunderstorms

  • right now its cloudy and the temperature is 76.2 Degrees The Heat Index Is 77

  • @supergreatcornholio cool here today at 14.6 C. and partly cloudy here on the north end of the island. In town this morning there was light drizzle.

    Dew Point: 56

    Humidity: 32%

    Heat Index: 99

    Wind: South 3 Mph

    Pressure: 29.79 Falling

  • @supergreatcornholio High temp. here today was 68.54 F., partly cloudy, Humidity 41%, Wind South West 7 mph

  • @bj616 i was sweaty all afternoon its 82.1 Right Now And The Heat Index Is

82 My Stevenson Screen Was Built In 1958

  • @supergreatcornholio My screen is very old as well and I bet it was built in the 1960's or earlier. A local retired weather observer gave it to me years ago. He's 96 years old now. Current temp. here at 9:18 pm is 18 Celcius clear skies.

  • @bj616 The Low/High Was 64/93

    Heat Index Was: 95

  • @supergreatcornholio The high temp. at my end of the island was 18.6 C. and 23 C. on the south end. The temps. vary greatly on our island. Beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze off of the ocean.

  • @bj616 The High Temperature Today Was 60 / 92

The Heat Index Was: 89 The Dew Point Was 39

  • @supergreatcornholio High temp here was 61.8 F.

  • Today The High Was 95 Degrees And The Humidity was 30% with A Heat Index

Of 97 a Warm And Humid Summer Afternoon

  • @supergreatcornholio That is hot! Today here was 76 F. in the shade, and a nice breeze coming off of the ocean. I had a great day working out in it.

  • @bj616 the Dew Points Were in The Mid 50s While It Was 95.3 Today also for me there is a risk of strong thunderstorms right now its 77.3 Degrees At 11:39 PM PDT 11PM Sky: Clear Temp: 77.3 Dew Point: 56 Humidity: 64% Heat Index: 81 Pressure: 29.92 Rising Wind: SE at 4 Mph
  • IT WAS 94 DEGREES ON JUNE 13, 2010

  • its supposed to be 90 F Or 32 C Its

    Partly Cloudy

    Temp: 84.2

    Dew Point: 47

    Humidity: 36%

    Wind: N 7 Mph

    Pressure: 30.54 Rising

  • @supergreatcornholio It's been unseasonal temps. here. Should be highs of 20 C. and lows of 11 C. Each day around 17 or 18 C. but the nights around 13 or 14 C. Perfect for me, because I work outside everyday and when it's to warm I can't function.

  • @bj616 todays High/low 6/12/2010 56/90 0.00"

  • @supergreatcornholio Here it was 18.8 C. for a High and 9.8 C. for a Low. Clear skies.

  • @bj616 The Heat Index Today Was 93

  • @bj616 its Already 84 Degrees And Its Only 11:19 Am

  • @bj616 Yesturday's Low/High 57.2/94.1

  • i t can at the same time in the roof of your house, you install automatic meteorological station, two it measures above the roof and you have measurements of very good precision with regard to the real conditions of temperature of humidity etc and no comparisons with the bodies double in the trees

  • @hobbyline187 I do have remote sensors all over my property because I like to see what the difference is on the coldest days. I'm more concerned about min. temps. rather than max. Usually doesn't get to cold on our island because we have the ocean to moderate us.

  • your stenenson screen is very good, but the point is totaly bad.

the stevenson screen its got to be in open space faraway from trees houses walls etc.

  • @hobbyline187 It is true and I know that, but where I live it is heavily forested. I am more interested in the temperatures that happen in my exotic garden where the screen is located. There is no where on my property where the screen could be placed that it would be far from trees or vegetation. If I was an official weather site, then my Screen would be inaffective.

  • The Storngest Wind Gust In My 12 Years Of Records Was Set In August 5,2003

A Thunderstorm Produced A Gust Of 104 Mph Had Heavy Damage Around The Area

Also I Was Under A Tornado Watch That Night The Power Was Out It Was A Scary Night

  • so far todays highest wind gust was 77 Mph

Im Under A High Wind Warning And A Dust Storm Warning

the winds are bad my anemometer was blurry the gusts sound like a jet also the power is flickering and this High Wind Warning Goes Until 11pm This Evening

  • @supergreatcornholio Very windy here this morning as well. Gusts to 60 kmph over the ocean and cool too. High temp. only 11.2 C. here.

  • @bj616 wow I wonder How Hard Your Trees Were Moving There Has Been Many Reports Of Downed Trees and Powerlines Its Been Bad

  • @supergreatcornholio I'm pretty sheltered at my location because of so much forest around me. My trees were blowing in the breeze, but not to bad. It was much more windy on the ocean where the wind whips across it. No power outages here to report.

  • Im Under A High Wind Watch In Effect From Monday Morning to Monday Night

with Winds of 45 to 55 mph Gusts To 60 to 70

  • @supergreatcornholio Where do your winds come from, East? I get westerlies here and many other areas on the south end get south easterlies. Rare to get north or east wind here.

  • @bj616 the west normally But Right Now Im Getting Winds From 15 to 25 Mph

    gusts To around 30

  • The Heat Wave Of June 2008 Was Worse I Was Getting Readings between 105-110 Degrees With Lows In The 70s And 80s We Had An Excessive Heat Warning In Effect From 10AM June 27-11pm July 1 June 26,2008 68/98 Feels Like: 97 June 27,2008 74/102 Feels Like: 104 June 28,2008 77/106 Feels Like: 109 June 29,2008 76/110 Feels Like: 113 June 30,2008 79/106 Feels Like:110 July 1,2008 75/103 Feels Like: 107
  • The Heat Wave Of May 2008 Was Hell I Went To The Community Days Carnival On May 17, 2008 it Was Already 90 Degrees By The Parade Started By 9 am

Lows/Highs (Not Official My Own Readings)

    May 15, 2008 56/90

    May 16,2008 64/99

    May 17,2008 63/102

    May 18,2008 76/96

    May 19,2008 69/90

  • @supergreatcornholio Holy smokers! Man those are toasty temps. for May. You should be growing grapes and figs.

  • I got My Stevenson Screen July 7, 2008

  • @supergreatcornholio I put my screen up in 2000, but I have been recording local weather for over 20 years.

  • Yeah I Have Weather Records Back to 1998 I Know My Channels Says 2007 But it was Actually 1998 When i Started

  • @supergreatcornholio Right on! Where abouts are you located? Northern or southern hemisphere? I live on small island located off of the extreme south west coast of Canada.

  • Northern Hemisphere Yakima,Washington

  • Not really that far from me then. We can see the lights of Seattle from the highest mountains on our island. I live on Salt Spring Island just north of your San Juan Islands. We can see them from here.

  • The Coldest Temperature I Have Ever Recorded Was -14 Degrees Set

January 4-5, 2004 It Was Cold

  • @supergreatcornholio Coldest temp. I have ever recorded at my location was 17.9 F. in Dec. 1998. Coldest temp. recorded here in the past 40 years on the North End of our island is 12.2 F. in Dec. 1990 that temp. was recorded at an Environment Canada Station.

  • Those Two Days I Was Under A Heavy Snow Warning

  • This past winter we only had one day of snow in mid Dec. 2009. It was melted by the next morning.

  • the Day You Posted This Video I Had a Snow Accumulation Of 9.1"

  • Is that right eh? The most snow I had ever recorded or seen in my life was in Dec. 1996. I recorded 28.5" inches. The most snow since 1916. It was insane and our island basically shut down because they couldn't cope with it.

  • Dec. 1998 I Had A Wind Gust Of 79 MPH

    It Blew Some Trees Down

  • WE don't get alot of strong winds here because we are so sheltered. Strongest winds I have ever recorded were in the mid 1990's with gusts to 40 mph

  • May 2006-2009 I was Plagued By An Early Season Heat Wave: May 2006 Highest Temperature and Lowest Measured In the Month Of May High: 104 Low: 43 May 2007 High: 93 Low: 56 May 2008 High: 102 Low: 47 May 2009 High: 101 Low: 45
  • I have never recorded any high temps. of 100 F. here at my location. However the valleys on our island did record high temps. to 100 F. in mid July approx. 4 years ago or so. I would have to loom in my data book for an exact date. It reached the mid 90's F. at my location because I am right close to the ocean. Your Summer temps. are much hotter than our's.

  • The Top 5 Hottest Temperatures

    (1) July 23, 2008: 116

    (2) August 17, 2008: 114

    (3) August 1, 2009:112

    (4) June 30, 2008: 110

    (5) July 4, 2001: 106

  • Those extreme temps. are unheard of here because we have the Pacific Ocean around our island. Keeps the temps. moderated year round. You could grow some real heat loving plants in your zone.

  • i meant july 23, 2006

    Yakima's Climate Is A Semi-Desert

it Starts To Get Hot Here In may into september at School It Reaches 90 If the AC isnt Running

  • There are very few people here that own AC, lol. The breezes from the ocean cool down the evenings making it easier to sleep. Although we are not a semi-desert we are very dry compared to the mainland because we are in a rainshadow. Our island is full of native cactus and succulents. I bet there is cactus where you live.

  • There Are In Ellensburg Canyon During The Summer In That Canyon It Feels Like Walking in An oven

  • Ypur area sounds very much like our Okanogan region where they only recieve very little rain anually. It is a desert complete with cactus and sage brush and pine trees. It is a cooker there every summer with many days over 100 F. I have visited there several times in the summer and it is toasty.

  • In May 17, 2008 I went to Selah For community days And The Bank Thermometers By 9am Were Sayin 91 F

at My Weather Station Had a High of 102

  • That is HOT! The record high temp. here is 100.1 F. back in July 1966

  • My Top 3 Coldest Temperatures Recorded

    (1998-2010)

    (1) January 4-5, 2004 : -14.5

    (2) December 16, 2008: -8.9

    (3) December 15, 2009: - 5.8

  • Great data you have there. Now are those temps. in Celcius or F? Because if those are in F., that is some down right cold you have experienced.

  • it was in F It Was So Cold That When You Took a Breath It Felt Like Ur Lung were on fire

  • Wow, I could only imagine, yikes!

  • yesterday i had a wind gust of 62 Mph

  • @supergreatcornholio Although I have two wind speed guages set up at different locations on my property, they are not accurate. I have way to much forest around me that blocks out a lot of the strongest winds. On Good Friday Gusts of 55 mph were recorded out on the ocean near town, but up at this end of the island much less. The strongest winds go right over top of me as you'll see in my vids. making my wind speed guages useless.

  • yeah i have some trees but my wind gauge is 97% Accurate it may have been 63 or 64 but close

  • @supergreatcornholio I need to put my wind gauges up on top one of my 150'ft native Douglas Fir trees, then it would be accurate, lol

  • Yeah My Old Anemometer Blew Out On

January 6, 2009 The Gears Were Shot I Had To Get a New One

Old Anemometer 2000-2009 New Anemometer 2009-Now

  • @supergreatcornholio What type of equipment do you use, Davis? I use mostly Oregon Scientific. I wouldn't mind to buy a Davis weather station one day. Although our island is not so big, there are at least 10 official weather stations here because the climate varies so much do to topography. You wouldn't believe how fast the weather can change in just a short distance.

  • The Anemometer Is A La Crosse Weather Channel Weather Station

The Wind Vane I Made Myself

The Min/Max Thermometer Is a Taylor

    I Actually Have 2 Min/Max Thermometers

  • @supergreatcornholio I also use La Crosse and Taylor as well. I have several Oregon Scientific. I put remote sensors all over my property. In my screen I have four remote sensors just to make sure that temps. are bang on. In there I have La Crosse, Taylor & Oregon Scientific. I also use a Taylor rain gauge.

  • My Rain Gauge Is A Toshiba Rain Gauge

  • @bj616 its 76 degrees and sunny at my weather station

  • @supergreatcornholio Nice!! I love warmth much better than cold. My high temp. today inside the screen was 17.7 Celcius and sunny. Humidity was a tad high today which doesn't happen to often.

  • @bj616 the high at my station was 82 Yesturday

  • @supergreatcornholio Now that is toasty!! It could happen this month, but not to likely. I live to close to the ocean.

  • @bj616 But That Rain We Had It Was Barley 60 On Tuesday With 0.37"

  • @supergreatcornholio I picked up 14 mm of precip. yesterday. So just over a 1/2" inch.

  • @bj616 The Rain Was Heavy At Times Especially Last Night It Was Raining So Hard I Could Hear It Pounding On The Roof

  • @supergreatcornholio That is such a relaxing sound. We have a metal roof with vaulted ceilings so I really hear it when it rains.

  • @bj616 YEAH IT IS DURING THE 2005-2006 WINTER SEASON MY WEATHER STATION HAD A TOTAL OF 5.78" FROM SEPTEMBER 30,2005-MARCH 31,2006

  • @supergreatcornholio That's interesting! Very dry where you are, since we recieve around 30" inches or so each year.

  • @bj616 Also In November 22,2005 I had A Thunderstorm The Rainfall Was 1.21" In 30 Minutes O_O it was Raining So Hard Its Like Taking a Shower

  • @supergreatcornholio Sounds more like a Tropical Monsoon!!

  • @bj616 IT WAS FREAKY A FLASH FLOOD WARNING WAS ISSUED THAT ELLENSBURG CANYON JUST 20 MILES NORTH OF YAKIMA WAS CLOSED DURING THE 2005-2006 WINTER SEASON BECAUSE THE THREAT FOR MUDSLIDES IT WAS ODD TO SEE THIS MUCH RAIN HARDLY ANY SNOW A TOTAL OF 3.4" AT MY WEATHER STATION THAT WINTER SEASON

  • @supergreatcornholio I guess when the ground is so dry and you get a ton of precip. all at once there is no way it will soak in. That's why desert areas can get flash floods. Those just don't happen here because we get alot more precip. throughout the year.

  • @bj616 on January 21, 2006 I was reporting Clouds Traveling at 150 Mph Really Low To The Ground About 500 Feet It Was Like Watching a Cloud Video In FastForward

  • @bj616 even 1/4" rainfall There Will Be Standing water

  • @supergreatcornholio I recieved 2 mm of precip. a couple of days ago and then another 2.2 mm of precip. early yesterday morning. Not a puddle to be seen around here, because I live on sandstone and shale. The water drains through as it hits the ground.

  • @bj616 on July 22, 2005 We Had A Duststorm That Reduced The Visibility To 40 Feet The High That Day Was 98 Degrees With Winds In Excess Of 70 Mph Gusts To 90 Mph It was crazy

  • @supergreatcornholio Wow, that sounds brutal!

  • @bj616 it was the Duststorm Lasted For 3 Hours The 2 Weather Bulletins Were

    1.Dust Storm Warning

    2.High Wind Warning

it was The Worst Duststorm i have ever seen

  • @supergreatcornholio Wow, how wild is that? Sounds like one hell of a storm. I have seen Dust Devils here and one day when I working at a park near town a Dust Devil started up on the running track and then made it's way over to the parking lot. It must have been 50'ft in height, all eyes were on it. It lasted at least a 2 minutes. I wish I had my camera with me then.

  • Coldest temp. ever recorded in our main town was 5 F. back in Dec. 28, 1968. No single digit temps. that cold have been recorded since then.

  • if you need plans to construct a nws stevenson screen let me know as i have 7 pages of blueprints.

  • @geepchaser Right on man! That is so cool. I got this one years ago from a retired weather observor. This is an Official Environment Canada Screen. I give it a fresh coat of paint each Summer. Cheers

  • would you care for a copy of the drawings ?

  • That would be great. I would try to make another screen.

  • email me at

    bobby_hamill@yahoo dot com

  • @geepchaser I'm just heading for a ferry to the mainland. I'll get back to you ASAP Sunday night. Cheers

  • Fascinating! Not shovelling any snow here either, yet. Give it time. :)

  • Right on! Have a Happy , Green & Safe New Year. Keep that snow up on the mountains where it belongs, lol
