@supergreatcornholio I do the weather forcast on our local radio station CFSI 107.9 FM also online. Next week we will be seeing highs of 27 C. and I'm not looking forward to it. Working that heat is hell, however if I don't have to work in it then bring it on.
@supergreatcornholio If it gets to hot here I either jump in a lake or walk across the street to the ocean for a swim. Last Summer a few areas on our island hit 38 C. Last summer was a killer here.
On August 18, 2008 Has been The First Time Since 2003 That Yakima Valley Was Under An Excessive Heat Warning & A Severe Thunderstorm Watch August 18, 2008 High: 93 Low: 74 Dew Point: 69 / 79 Humidity: 78% / 69% Heat Index: 78 / 113 Precip: 0.00 / 0.07" Pressure: 29.99 S / 29.99 S Wind: Calm / Calm Sky: Mostly Cloudy / Severe Thunderstom;Mostly Cloudy
@supergreatcornholio Another cool day at 16.6 C. Cloudy early morning then clearing and sunny in the afternoon. Below seasonal temps. for this Spring.
@supergreatcornholio My screen is very old as well and I bet it was built in the 1960's or earlier. A local retired weather observer gave it to me years ago. He's 96 years old now. Current temp. here at 9:18 pm is 18 Celcius clear skies.
@supergreatcornholio The high temp. at my end of the island was 18.6 C. and 23 C. on the south end. The temps. vary greatly on our island. Beautiful sunny day with a nice breeze off of the ocean.
@bj616 the Dew Points Were in The Mid 50s While It Was 95.3 Today also for me there is a risk of strong thunderstorms right now its 77.3 Degrees At 11:39 PM PDT 11PM Sky: Clear Temp: 77.3 Dew Point: 56 Humidity: 64% Heat Index: 81 Pressure: 29.92 Rising Wind: SE at 4 Mph
@supergreatcornholio It's been unseasonal temps. here. Should be highs of 20 C. and lows of 11 C. Each day around 17 or 18 C. but the nights around 13 or 14 C. Perfect for me, because I work outside everyday and when it's to warm I can't function.
i t can at the same time in the roof of your house, you install automatic meteorological station, two it measures above the roof and you have measurements of very good precision with regard to the real conditions of temperature of humidity etc and no comparisons with the bodies double in the trees
@hobbyline187 I do have remote sensors all over my property because I like to see what the difference is on the coldest days. I'm more concerned about min. temps. rather than max. Usually doesn't get to cold on our island because we have the ocean to moderate us.
@hobbyline187 It is true and I know that, but where I live it is heavily forested. I am more interested in the temperatures that happen in my exotic garden where the screen is located. There is no where on my property where the screen could be placed that it would be far from trees or vegetation. If I was an official weather site, then my Screen would be inaffective.
Im Under A High Wind Warning And A Dust Storm Warning
the winds are bad my anemometer was blurry the gusts sound like a jet also the power is flickering and this High Wind Warning Goes Until 11pm This Evening
@supergreatcornholio I'm pretty sheltered at my location because of so much forest around me. My trees were blowing in the breeze, but not to bad. It was much more windy on the ocean where the wind whips across it. No power outages here to report.
@supergreatcornholio Where do your winds come from, East? I get westerlies here and many other areas on the south end get south easterlies. Rare to get north or east wind here.
The Heat Wave Of June 2008 Was Worse I Was Getting Readings between 105-110 Degrees With Lows In The 70s And 80s We Had An Excessive Heat Warning In Effect From 10AM June 27-11pm July 1 June 26,2008 68/98 Feels Like: 97 June 27,2008 74/102 Feels Like: 104 June 28,2008 77/106 Feels Like: 109 June 29,2008 76/110 Feels Like: 113 June 30,2008 79/106 Feels Like:110 July 1,2008 75/103 Feels Like: 107
@supergreatcornholio Right on! Where abouts are you located? Northern or southern hemisphere? I live on small island located off of the extreme south west coast of Canada.
Not really that far from me then. We can see the lights of Seattle from the highest mountains on our island. I live on Salt Spring Island just north of your San Juan Islands. We can see them from here.
@supergreatcornholio Coldest temp. I have ever recorded at my location was 17.9 F. in Dec. 1998. Coldest temp. recorded here in the past 40 years on the North End of our island is 12.2 F. in Dec. 1990 that temp. was recorded at an Environment Canada Station.
Is that right eh? The most snow I had ever recorded or seen in my life was in Dec. 1996. I recorded 28.5" inches. The most snow since 1916. It was insane and our island basically shut down because they couldn't cope with it.
May 2006-2009 I was Plagued By An Early Season Heat Wave: May 2006 Highest Temperature and Lowest Measured In the Month Of May High: 104 Low: 43 May 2007 High: 93 Low: 56 May 2008 High: 102 Low: 47 May 2009 High: 101 Low: 45
I have never recorded any high temps. of 100 F. here at my location. However the valleys on our island did record high temps. to 100 F. in mid July approx. 4 years ago or so. I would have to loom in my data book for an exact date. It reached the mid 90's F. at my location because I am right close to the ocean. Your Summer temps. are much hotter than our's.
Those extreme temps. are unheard of here because we have the Pacific Ocean around our island. Keeps the temps. moderated year round. You could grow some real heat loving plants in your zone.
There are very few people here that own AC, lol. The breezes from the ocean cool down the evenings making it easier to sleep. Although we are not a semi-desert we are very dry compared to the mainland because we are in a rainshadow. Our island is full of native cactus and succulents. I bet there is cactus where you live.
Ypur area sounds very much like our Okanogan region where they only recieve very little rain anually. It is a desert complete with cactus and sage brush and pine trees. It is a cooker there every summer with many days over 100 F. I have visited there several times in the summer and it is toasty.
@supergreatcornholio Although I have two wind speed guages set up at different locations on my property, they are not accurate. I have way to much forest around me that blocks out a lot of the strongest winds. On Good Friday Gusts of 55 mph were recorded out on the ocean near town, but up at this end of the island much less. The strongest winds go right over top of me as you'll see in my vids. making my wind speed guages useless.
@supergreatcornholio What type of equipment do you use, Davis? I use mostly Oregon Scientific. I wouldn't mind to buy a Davis weather station one day. Although our island is not so big, there are at least 10 official weather stations here because the climate varies so much do to topography. You wouldn't believe how fast the weather can change in just a short distance.
@supergreatcornholio I also use La Crosse and Taylor as well. I have several Oregon Scientific. I put remote sensors all over my property. In my screen I have four remote sensors just to make sure that temps. are bang on. In there I have La Crosse, Taylor & Oregon Scientific. I also use a Taylor rain gauge.
@supergreatcornholio Nice!! I love warmth much better than cold. My high temp. today inside the screen was 17.7 Celcius and sunny. Humidity was a tad high today which doesn't happen to often.
@bj616 IT WAS FREAKY A FLASH FLOOD WARNING WAS ISSUED THAT ELLENSBURG CANYON JUST 20 MILES NORTH OF YAKIMA WAS CLOSED DURING THE 2005-2006 WINTER SEASON BECAUSE THE THREAT FOR MUDSLIDES IT WAS ODD TO SEE THIS MUCH RAIN HARDLY ANY SNOW A TOTAL OF 3.4" AT MY WEATHER STATION THAT WINTER SEASON
@supergreatcornholio I guess when the ground is so dry and you get a ton of precip. all at once there is no way it will soak in. That's why desert areas can get flash floods. Those just don't happen here because we get alot more precip. throughout the year.
@bj616 on January 21, 2006 I was reporting Clouds Traveling at 150 Mph Really Low To The Ground About 500 Feet It Was Like Watching a Cloud Video In FastForward
@supergreatcornholio I recieved 2 mm of precip. a couple of days ago and then another 2.2 mm of precip. early yesterday morning. Not a puddle to be seen around here, because I live on sandstone and shale. The water drains through as it hits the ground.
@bj616 on July 22, 2005 We Had A Duststorm That Reduced The Visibility To 40 Feet The High That Day Was 98 Degrees With Winds In Excess Of 70 Mph Gusts To 90 Mph It was crazy
@supergreatcornholio Wow, how wild is that? Sounds like one hell of a storm. I have seen Dust Devils here and one day when I working at a park near town a Dust Devil started up on the running track and then made it's way over to the parking lot. It must have been 50'ft in height, all eyes were on it. It lasted at least a 2 minutes. I wish I had my camera with me then.
@geepchaser Right on man! That is so cool. I got this one years ago from a retired weather observor. This is an Official Environment Canada Screen. I give it a fresh coat of paint each Summer. Cheers
nice garden...

@supergreatcornholio I recieved 2 mm of precip. a couple of days ago and then another 2.2 mm of precip. early yesterday morning. Not a puddle to be seen around here, because I live on sandstone and shale. The water drains through as it hits the ground.

Cheers
