I live near Croatia. I study Gypsy studies in Hungary (Pécs)... can you tell me more about gypsies in Cro. , cos i want to make an essey about it!!!:)
Hi! I am actually touched by this video. I may travel to Croatia next year and theres a chance for me to live there for some time I would like to know what I can do to help these people who lve in those horrible conditions. I look forward for an answer, Natalia.
I am not Mormon at all. I am a Christian - a follower of Jesus Christ, who alone has brought me from the depths of despair and through whom I will one day be in the presence of God forever.
I can see your misunderstanding. These, the Bayash, are not European at all. They are actually of Indian descent. They were sent to Romania and sold as slaves several hundred years ago, and when finally freed, traveled along the Danube and Drava Rivers where they established many small villages. These are not Europeans. In fact, Europeans generally despise them. But the Bayash can do nothing about it. They have no home to go to.
obviously people have no clue what a gypsy really is... they want you to feel sorry for them.... daaaaaa.... they will rob you blind..... they are considered a pest to society . they don't want to work... they want you to work for them then they rob you... people are so dumb....
Your response is stereo-typical... and in many cases you are not far from the truth. But, think again.. What makes you any better than them? If you were robbed of your homeland, possessions, and dignity, would you not be eventually degraded to the same behavior you have described? Rather than spitting on them, which does absolutely no good, we should show them kindness, and help them out of their cultural predicament. That is the heart and purpose of the people you call "dumb."
I found your video while looking for more pictures of gypsies in Croatia. My family plans a trip soon to visit children in villages and schools. Thank you for helping me have a better understanding. I like your songs too! I'm subscribed! Blessings.
Hey Bree, I just wanted to say how pretty your voice sounded on this take. And, what a great video. It's hard to believe that Croatia is still not built back up. --- Dusty
lol, That's not me singing. Its Sara Groves. She's my favorite artist. I'll take it as a compliment though! hahaha Oh and these aren't Croatian people either. They are the gypsies that live here as a minority. :)

where is croatia sorry to ask but i don't know where that is and i was raised catholic to, so glad most of you are catholic, i miss my catholic thing back in my country philippines. millions of people go to church every day especially sunday, but here in US like hundreds, not enough to save the sins of this country =) j/k..
croatia is a former republic of yugoslavia, mopst of the people living there are catholics, few "pravoslavo"(serbian orthodox church of orient , there are muslims ,jews ,I believe many cults like jehovas'witnesses ,scientologists maybe and ,also atheists ,or agnostics ,and maybe some satanist and wiccas too , for info'
You have some very wonderfull young friends in that vid. Some see poverty and strife in those pics(I do also). I however see much hope in those childrens eyes and feel good about the many True Helpers out there. Thanks you and your family for the continued efforts. Im sure that God is taking notes and is impressed with all of your diligence. And Thanks and God Bless to All of you.
The children are Our future and meeting Brie has recharged my Belief in Good and Right. Thanks Again.
another incident occured while I was at Mass this homeless man came in. He was disheveled and sat in the back of the pews. He then wandered around the statues looking at them while Mass was going..lol. A priest came up to him and told him to leave. I was quite shocked that the priest told him to leave. I guess he didnt like his clothing. That bothered me a lot... its my main gripe with the Catholic Church.
Of course, Henry. I know there are lots of good people in Catholic churches. But also, you're talking about in the states. There isn't as much prejudice there because the country has been a cosmopolitan one for many years.
Not to bash the Church completely I knew of one priest that actually was a good Christian. There was a homeless man wondering around the church grounds and there was this marvelous wedding going on at the time. The wedding party was filing out and the priest was talking to the newly weds. The priest excused himself and brought the homeless man inside the rectory to give him some food.
There definitely are great priests and nuns, and know that for a fact. Without them, our family would not have had clothing, food, a good education. We were totally loved and cared for.. that's the Catholic way to follow Christ that we all know. :)
hey like the vid, ive been living with my parents in london england for the past 7 yrs as missionaries too, im american, id love to go to croatia sum day
yeah totally... i'm glad you caught it! that picture is important to us for that particular reason. especially because of the fact that the Catholic church is within walking distance from their village, yet they are not allowed in it. some of them really are seeking God at times but have no way or "getting to Him" because they cannot get into the church. also, the church is so close yet does nothing to help them.
I hadn't heard about Bayash before but wooow... you are doing such a great job together with your family. Thank God for people doing things like you do, that is what Jesus meant with being the salt of the earth! :) God bless you!
greets all the way from the Netherlands (west of Germany)
quite possibly. doesn't mean it is a Christian home in any sense, though. a lot of times the Bayash use cheap/free posters like that as wallpaper/decoration because its nicer to look at than dirty cement walls.
It's soooo sad what's going on over there. Reading the Roma Diary made it sound even sadder. Thank God you and your family are coming to help. You are all some of the greatest people in the world!!!!!!! God Bless You!! :)

I heard Croatia is a very beautiful country and I think of going there soon. It's really cool that you live in a foreign country so you can have a better opinion of USA.Amricans who live in France change their mind after some days or weeks. And it's really great that you and your family are in Croatia to help people, despite of the religion thing. You must be a great person, responsible and generous.
no, i didn't sing that particular song. That was Sara Groves. I LOVE her music. :) Do you want to be added to the e-mailing list? is that why you gave me your e-mail address?
I must assume that "his work" in this case is converting the "lost" catholics of Croatia to some evangelical sect. You really have'nt made that clear. As a Croatian American,I have to wonder why people just can't do the good work of the lord without getting a "payoff" in the end of converting the people to one of the 147 sects of evangelical christianity.Peace, Pleša
What on earth are you talking about... They aren't Catholic. Did you catch when I said MINORITY group? They are not Croatians. Have you ever BEEN to Croatia? If so, you have probably seen them. They are gypsies originally from India, being sent to Romania as slaves, and then after they weere freed, they slowly migrated up along the Drava River. They are PAGAN. Okay?
Sad to say that the roman Catholic church no longer preaches the gospel that you need to be saved and born again. I was born church of Ireland (Episcopal / Anglican) and they are no longer preaching the gospel either. I NEVER heard the gospel in my old Church. Not Once. Thank God for the internet as it was through a churchw ebcast that I found a good Church and came to be saved.
And what payoff are you talking about? The only payoff I see for all the work my parents have done is Heaven. But I dont think that's what you're referring to...?
I'm a Catholic. And does it really matter who helps these children? They are poor and hungry. They are discriminated. They need everyones help. Obviously Croatia doensn't care; and sadly the Catholics who are in the majority don't care. God Bless Brie and her family for what they can do.
oh no I didnt take it that way! I think I know you too well...you have a heart a gold. I just wanted your friend to know. My kids live at the Mall too! lol Just look in my pockets and you can see the emptyness that only the Mall can bring.
This video is amazing! I keep watching it over and over. It is heart breaking to think of how selfish we become in America. It is easy to forget there are so many hurting children who need love. I pray some day I can take a trip to Croatia and minister with your family. Much Love,
lol... sorry yikes!... didn't mean to say that personally... I just meant at least one day we should reflect on what we have and thank God for the things we have and be grateful. Also think about people who don't have anything and pray.
yes of course henry! i'm sorry, i didn't mean to come across snappy or as if i was annoyed with you. i was just stating the fact... and i thought it was funny. :)
Wow Brie, it is so great that you are helping out these people!!! I wish I could come visit to help out!!! Maybe you can start selling some CD's in your area to help raise money for the village. If you need anything, I'll be glad to help you with anything that I can do. :)
You are definetly an Angel from our God....Wish I could be there to help you guys...I love what you wonderful people are doing to help the less fortunate. My prayers and blessings are with you and familys forever....In Christ, Roger
these children are so beautiful and the whole world should know. It's so heartbreaking reading everything about them. And they're playing in a dump...walking in mud. soon summer will be over and they'll need heavy clothing, shelter, heat... and so much more.
Hi! He, you said to let you know if someone wants to know more about that ministry, well I'm very interreseted in misionary etc. so I'd like to recieve that weekly email! =) My e-mail is martinedens@msn.com
yes there is. if you'd like to support the ministry, you can contact Bob by replying to the Roma Diary. He will give you the address of our mission, where donations can be sent. You can tell him whether you want the money spent in a certain area or if it can be used for general expenses.
aww I'm sorry.... yeah, Bob is pretty good at painting the picture as it truly is.. he's a writer. I'm glad it touched you so deeply, Henry. These are the awakenings that help us all grow. :)... "It's gunna be alright"
they are having a small house built for a women and her 4 (maybe 5?) children. there's a lot more of it finished now. that video was like a week and a half ago..
hahaha you crack me up. umm, I'm gunna give bob the list of e-mails today -- the last time he wrote was on the 4th, so that means he'll probably write one either tomorrow or tuesday. :) I'm gunna see if he'll write a special introductory message to all the new people, though.. but we'll just have to see.
This video makes me happy and sad at the same time...Happy to know your folks are there, but sad to think the task is so momumental...and of course the kids...they need so much.
thanks :) My parents are missionaries here. They are doing lots of projects at the moment, but the main priorities are learning the Bayash language (when we first started working here the language had never been documented) and translating the Bible into Bayash.
Yeah Brie... nothing against Bowling but with soccer the kids don't have to wait in line to play...lol...you can have at least 22 kids playing at the same time... sorry ...lol...just a thought
if you can get these kids to play soccer, than you are one truly amazing person. not many of them go to school... almost none are literate, no organization skills... sometimes we get them in a circle to toss the ball around, but even that is difficult. that's why we're here. it's gunna be a good chunk of years before they can do that kind of thing.
my parents wanna help raise up a new culture for the next generation. they need it bad. its almost like there is no Bayash culture right now. unless you wanna call chronic alcoholism, stealing, cheating, and frequent wife beating a culture... :-/
Yeah I know...it has to be hard but I was watching the world cup soccer and they talked about Ronaldinho the best soccer player on Brazil's team, and how he grew up in the poorest village in Brazil and that's all they played was soccer. He now gives lots of money to his village.
and we'll need a wall so the kids can practice their kicks...and gloves for the keepers...and... i know i sound greedy but... lol... how can you play soccer without gloves?
Ok...we'll need uniforms too... and some refs, someone to line the fields, water bottles, gateraid and some munchies for each quarter of play, and ...
yeah she's one of my absolute favorites. her and her big sister.. she used to burst into tears EVERY TIME we looked at her, but thankfully she has finally gotten out of that stage so she didn't mind me taking this pic. :)
God I wish I could send those kids some soccer balls... lol... I use to be a soccer coach...and some nets for goals and shin guards...and cleats..and ...
I guess I wont be sailing around the world... enjoying life. Geez Brie!... there are too many more important things to do; and they happen to deal with these children...sigh!
I'm sorry if I feel like I'm spamming this video...but it needs to be on the front page of YouTube. Where the whole world will see it. Please everyone help Brie get this message out... its a good message.
Absolutely breath taking Brie...those children are so beautiful...my first million will go to you and your family...to help those people... thank you so very much...and please add me to your email list. You're such an angel.

Hey Brie... there's no place where people can donate?
pongman 5 years ago
yes there is. if you'd like to support the ministry, you can contact Bob by replying to the Roma Diary. He will give you the address of our mission, where donations can be sent. You can tell him whether you want the money spent in a certain area or if it can be used for general expenses.

pongman 5 years ago
I can't stop crying... I got the Roma Weekly.
pongman 5 years ago
aww I'm sorry.... yeah, Bob is pretty good at painting the picture as it truly is.. he's a writer. I'm glad it touched you so deeply, Henry. These are the awakenings that help us all grow. :)... "It's gunna be alright"
briennalauryn 5 years ago
Y'know we could sell plastic wrist bracelets for this village... don't know what color it should be though...you'll have to come up with a color
pongman 5 years ago
Hey btw... what's Bob building with all that stuff?
pongman 5 years ago
they are having a small house built for a women and her 4 (maybe 5?) children. there's a lot more of it finished now. that video was like a week and a half ago..
briennalauryn 5 years ago
that's so awesome... Habitat for Humanity Croatian style... Bob's a great guy... God bless him.
pongman 5 years ago
Hey... When do we get our first edition of Roma Weekly and how much does it cost to subscribe?
pongman 5 years ago
hahaha you crack me up. umm, I'm gunna give bob the list of e-mails today -- the last time he wrote was on the 4th, so that means he'll probably write one either tomorrow or tuesday. :) I'm gunna see if he'll write a special introductory message to all the new people, though.. but we'll just have to see.

chriztopherP 5 years ago
thanks :) My parents are missionaries here. They are doing lots of projects at the moment, but the main priorities are learning the Bayash language (when we first started working here the language had never been documented) and translating the Bible into Bayash.
briennalauryn 5 years ago
God Bless Brie's parents a million fold.
pongman 5 years ago
thinking of the song now... "It's gonna be alright"... I think this song was made for you Brie
pongman 5 years ago
Yeah Brie... nothing against Bowling but with soccer the kids don't have to wait in line to play...lol...you can have at least 22 kids playing at the same time... sorry ...lol...just a thought
pongman 5 years ago
if you can get these kids to play soccer, than you are one truly amazing person. not many of them go to school... almost none are literate, no organization skills... sometimes we get them in a circle to toss the ball around, but even that is difficult. that's why we're here. it's gunna be a good chunk of years before they can do that kind of thing.
briennalauryn 5 years ago
my parents wanna help raise up a new culture for the next generation. they need it bad. its almost like there is no Bayash culture right now. unless you wanna call chronic alcoholism, stealing, cheating, and frequent wife beating a culture... :-/
briennalauryn 5 years ago
Yeah I know...it has to be hard but I was watching the world cup soccer and they talked about Ronaldinho the best soccer player on Brazil's team, and how he grew up in the poorest village in Brazil and that's all they played was soccer. He now gives lots of money to his village.
pongman 5 years ago
and we'll need a wall so the kids can practice their kicks...and gloves for the keepers...and... i know i sound greedy but... lol... how can you play soccer without gloves?
pongman 5 years ago
and we'll need some more soccer balls to give to each and every child...
pongman 5 years ago
oh yes and we'll need some coaches, and some assistant coaches for practice every Monday and Wednesday after school....
pongman 5 years ago
we'll need some flags for the corner kicks
pongman 5 years ago
LOL, yeah, i can imagine them fighting over the ball quite a bit.. penalty. penalty. penalty. penalty. penalty....
briennalauryn 5 years ago
well...if they foul within the 18 its a PK...lol...they'll learn fast that you can't do that... you just need lots of whistles...lol
pongman 5 years ago
Ok...we'll need uniforms too... and some refs, someone to line the fields, water bottles, gateraid and some munchies for each quarter of play, and ...
pongman 5 years ago
I think there's enough children to make at least four or five teams :)

Love your music videos, but have to say this is my favorite of all. There's something to be said about the old adage that giving has its own rewards.
Great song choice.
