  • another teeny bop rocker who was there when elvis was in the army.....needless to say we were all happy when elvis came out and did away with these teeny bop singers

  • Played this song all the time on the juke box at the USC Grill in 1960......there was very

cute girl from Arcadia.....who I used to drive home occasionally in my 1954 Mercury. This

along with Jerry Keller and Here Comes Summer........awesome. Thank you Larry Hall for

a great song and great memories.

  • Thank you for posting this song. I have been looking for it for years. I had a crush on a girl named Sandy when I was in 4th grade. This song brings back memories of her. Hope she is happy and living well.

  • My late wife's name was sandy...we met in 1958...married in 1961...this was my song for her, i can still feel her with me when i hear thisd great song...thanks

  • excellent!

    loved this song

  • My mothers name was Sandy. When I was young, my dad told me he wrote this song for her. It wasn't until I was old enough to read the 45's label that I realized he was pulling my leg. Funny how much I wanted to believe him.

  • A great song, thanks for posting

  • thank so much I have this song on reel to reel tape and carry all the way from Thailand,

The machine is no longer work , so nice to hear again from UT now I have it on my playlist.

  • @boobeejoo This is one of those stories that hitS home with me!!! I had a reel to reel tape recording and a very large collection of 45's from the doowop era and on thru ther 70's, and all my favorites are now avaliable on something called the internet(youtube)....I know, who'd of ever thought music would be avaliable at the cllick of a mouse. I will admit not all is avaliable from the doowop era but Sandy is and that's important!..now Thx4 keeping her posted/THE INTERNET..A FINAL FRONTIER!

  • Thanks for posting this. My favorite cousin was named Sandy and when I was a kid we played this all the time. Later her copy got destroyed in a flood and I was lucky to find a Larry Hall cd through some strange catalog. What great songs he had. Too bad not many people got a chance to hear him. A true treasure.

  • OMG...tonite at Karaoke I met a lady named Sandy and poof from deep in what I suppose was my brain came this song. I literally wore out two 45s of this song in Jr High and over the years somehow lost it. Well....gmdallas, get ready to upload it again because tonite [2 a.m.] I am going to be the first person to wear out a Youtube song! Thanks tons for doing this for us [me].

  • I will see what I can do to find it amongst the 'treasures' we have stored in our basement and have it transferred to DVD and post it.

  • I have a video somewhere of my dad, Larry Hall, on American Bandstand or maybe it was Ed Sullivan. I was also sent some fan mags, photos, and memorabilia from when he and his parents went up and down the coast marketing his new record on the Hot label. It was eventually picked up on the Strand label. I have the original letter of intent from Harry Maslow. It was nice to look at those things from my dads past.

  • @gmdallas1 Ahh, please post that video, I would love to see it and I don't believe I'm alone in requesting this. Also I would love to see the photos & memorabilla, wow, I'm excited that you preserved it all and have ownership. I've always loved your Dad's music, I guess that's quite obvious. Such a nice soft pleasant voice, perfect.

  • @gmdallas1 I have the 45, and recall seeing Larry on Bandstand. In 1959, this song was infectious. The simple, unorchestrated approach was fresh, and your Dad definately had an Elvis quality to his voice. I have likely listened to Sandy a hundred times since its release, but only today noticed while listening here: the bass is late on a chord change going in to the guitar solo in the middle. Anyway, it's puzzling Larry did not have a string of hits, he certainly had the voice for it.

  • @gmdallas1 Hello: I went to high school in jersey city, a classmate was singing your fathers song, "SANDY' to his girlfriend while walking in the hall,, her name was Sandy. He had an am radio in his hand and his arm around Sandy. My wifes' name is Sandy. ....what a wonderful song...only he could do this song....no one else.

    Thank you.

  • I first heard this song back in '59 in Argentia, Nfld., Canada while in the U.S. Navy.

Recenly met a very nice woman by this name & she reminded me of this song.In fact, she sent it to me on You Tube. Thanks so much for posting it.

That's the lady that is right below on your list.

  • I have this original 45 and played it alot back in the 1959

  • @CHECKMATEJASPER Your very welcome!

  • One of the absolute best of the " one hit wonders " Fantastic sound "" Where has all the good rock n roll gone ?

  • makes me glad my name is SANDY : ))~

  • I searched for years trying to find this song and finally found the "45" at a garage sale. That really made my day. Now you can hear almost anything on YouTube, its great.

  • Larry cut this tune in 57' with some hand me down equipment from Les Paul. Was released in late 59/60. Peaked at around #15 on billboard charts. This tune is now fairly obscure these days but is a 1959 classic and will ever remain so. Kool luv also great tune, though did not chart. Jeff and Suellen

  • Season's Greetings & thankyou for sharing this classic..love it!

  • Your very welcome, thank you!

  • Larry Hall recorded and released "Sandy" in late 1959..he also appeared on American Bandstand in late 1959..."the song got as high as # 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in January of 1960..Larry Hall also co-prduced "Suspicion" for Terry Stafford in 1964..and"The In Crowd" for Dobie Gray in 1965. He died of cancer in 1997.....a classic from the early days of rock'n'roll...

  • I never seen him on American Bandstand. If you ever find the vid on youtube please send it to me, i'd love to see it!

  • Larry Hall lived in HB California in the 60ts or at lest owned a gas station at Edwards St. and Edinger Ave. Mom went in for a repair on her car and there was Larry singing ,Mom said you have a nice voice ,and told him you should make a record , he told her I d...id .. Larry was under a hood of a care at the time..

  • WOW, imagine that, I could be so lucky, I think I would have died! Thanks for sharing!

  • I want to thank everyone who appreciates my dad's songs. It's good to see that his music is still being listened to. I miss my father so much, especially when I listen to all the songs I grew up listening to.

  • You are so very welcome my friend! Sorry about your Dad, his memories will always live on, and thank God 4 youtube which made posting these GREAT tunes possible. Was he still performing up to the late 90s?

  • Larry wrote this tune, and couldn't find a record company to pick it up...so recorded on his own label...Strand Records....great cut.

  • Ah, I didn't know that STRAND was his label! Learn something new everyday, thanks for the info!

  • I've only heard Johnny Crawford's version before.

  • Johnny had a different version, altough his Sandy was also nice! I need to do a J. Crawford night! I have 4 LPs & a ton of 45s by him, there isn't one song I don't like, I have a soft spot for Johnny Crawford!
