  • dealextreme sells replacements parts cheap if your lookin for parts

  • I was almost done! then i broke one of the lcd's ribbon, the small one! Can i just put electric tape?!?

  • @goldeneye0010

Probably not. The ribbon cable transfer data from one unit to another and if you break part of it, you eliminate some of the data. I doubt that it'd work after that..

Look around though as I'm not the best source of information for something like this.

  • @Atomaround thanks anyway

  • MY XO TRIANGLE SQUARE buttons are not waorking plzzz reply how might i be able to fix it

  • @MultiAlliot

Perhaps the contacts are dirty? It easy solutions don't work, perhaps the board that those buttons are on decided to die.

  • my wifi board looks smaller and green...and it doesn't work, bout to find out why though i hope.

  • dude those fucking screwes are so blocked, they thorn them to much when they assemble the psp's

  • my ps3 connects to my wifi perfectly but my psp finds the wifi gets the ip address but fails on internet connection...so maybe the wifi board is the problem, im glad i found this video =D

  • I once dissassembled my PSP. it is now on my dressure with my brand new psp, still not re-assembled.

  • i has a silver limited edition psp thats awesome! =P

  • are all the screws all pretty much the same size?

  • @mutzmax1

I believe so although I'm not certain on it anymore.

  • awesome dude i love th part when you say "if you break it your fucked" when you were talking about taking the screen out lol

  • what screwdriver do i use

  • I believe I was just using a small phillips for most of it and then I used a small flathead to get the lcd off. It's been a while though.

  • #000 IT IS A SMALL JEWELER SCREWDRIVER

  • every wonder how the hell the PSP mobo connects to the wifi board? Shits weird, doesn't have any connection to the main board at all!

  • It's been ages since I've taken apart my psp, but after looking at these pics again, I'd guess there is a connection from the top of the sound/mem/wifi card to the underside of the motherboard. It's the only way I can think it'd connect. Plus there's a strange connection near the top of the wifi board.

  • can you make a video about "how to remove the backplate of PSP slim"?

    :D

but in real-time filming if u can

  • Probably can't since I have no plans of buying a slim..

I might be able to if I use a friend's, but I wouldn't count on it.

  • ok, thank u very much

  • oh shoot i busted a the little black clip that holds the small lcd screen cable any suggestions how to get the screen on???

  • Ooooo... No...

Uh.. Non-conductive glue? Heh.. I really don't know man. You could buy a new motherboard for it, but that's like buying a whole new psp..

  • ahh f word oh well mine was junk any ways

  • Yeah.. Always have to be careful with those cables..

  • yea lol learn by failing as i always say wish it wasn't so expensive to fix but ill put up a video of whats wrong and you (also any one thats good with this stuff) can give me some suggestions

  • Sure sure.

I'm actually not sure how one would fix those ribbon cable clips.

  • is that a psp 2000?

  • It's a phat psp, aka, a psp-1000.

  • In addition to my 3rd question ( the UMD disc tray going haywire ), I can only play 3 games now. T_T;

( This is after I brang it to school to get it hacked )

    These games include:

    - SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo

    - SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 2

    - Bomberman

Every other game of mine doesn't work! T_T

    Any ideas why?

It would help me a lot if you answered back, too! :D

  • Nice job on the Disassembly!

    3 Questions for u:

    1. Outta all my years of playing PSP, I've had no infrastructure (wi-fi online)! How can i get it?

    2. There was this one time i let my sister play my PSP, . . . and apparently she dropped it, shifting the screen. . . T_T Is there any way to put the screen back to the way it was?

    3. There also was this other time i decided to bring it to school. After the school day, my UMD disc worked really wierd with these noises coming outta it. Any ideas?

  • 1. Your switch has been on when you've wanted to use the wifi yes? Have you ever connected to a network with your psp?

You can take off the faceplate and see exactly what shifted, maybe the bracket decided to bend or something. You can always buy a new lcd screen.

Uh... I'd guess the motor decided to go crazy.

Towards your other comment, I'm going to guess it's a laser problem or something. What exactly happens?

  • 1. Actually I do put the wi-fi switch on, but when i try to connect (like to play against others or something), it doesn't work . . .

    2. I don't really have the tools for taking off the faceplate XD

    3. When i asked my dad (who's a real electronics kind-of-guy, but not with Sony and such), he said that i have ''bad hardware''. (No clue what that means. . . )

  • 1. So you've actually set up a network to connect to in Network Settings? Do you have a wireless network in your house?

    2. All you need is a screw driver. There a few tutorials on the web that show to take the faceplate off.

    3. What your dad means is that the hardware (The psp itself) is having issues.

  • 1. Actually yes. However it says that a DNS Server error occurs ( in some games ). While in others, . . . it just doesn't work . . . ( my Ad Hoc stuff works btw. )

  • i broke the back of my umd thing can u make a video of how to take it apart to fix it or will u just tell me???

  • Well.. I've never taken apart the umd drive before so I'm no help there, but you can look up a video here on youtube that might help. Search for a video here about removing the door.

Or you could Google "open psp" and find the link to the Afterdawn forums called "Guide - To Opening a PSP"

Hope this helps even though I didn't really do anything....

  • when i play music on my psp or just games or anything, the sound does not play! when i plug in my ear phones the music, game music is played through the speakers!!! plz help

  • That... Is quite weird.

Personally, I'd re-install the firmware. If that doesn't fix it, then I'd guess it's a hardware problem.

And guess what! The sound board is the same as the wifi-board.

  • i think i will have to buy a new sound board, i bought the psp from a friend for like 27 dollars and he had dropped it in the toilet so it was a little bit off but i have almost completly fixed it:)

  • Nice. I bought mine on ebay a few years back for 100 bucks. The wifi broke because it's fallen out of my pocket a few times.

  • m8 gues what happend to my psp fat i put the charger in in the night time as soon as i put the charger in my psp blew up and smell came out and started smoking

  • Ooooo... That sucks man.

  • i can dissemble mine in 3 mins

  • Good for you. This was my first time taking it completely apart. I thought I'd share.

  • i disassembled my psp screen cover to check something and when i put it back on, thers dust particles sticking to the screen inside now i cant get it out! plz, tell me this happened to u aswell or just tell me how to get rid of the particles

  • Uh, take the faceplate off again and wipe the screen/back of faceplate with a extremely fine cloth. I used a microfiber, but I've heard that those are too fine and that they can scratch the screen.

  • I have a question....

The big connector from LCD to motherboard, mine fell off, is there anyways to replace it with something so I can connect my LCD again? because i don't wanna pay for a new motherboard

  • Oh god.. The connection for the cable? As far as I know, you'll probably need a new motherboard.

Still, look around more because I may be wrong.

  • I think i need to get someone that knows about this stuff to hot glue gun the thing, just as long as the LCD works good

  • Eeeh... I'm a bit iffy on that. It can't really hurt though.

  • If i get a professional to do it

  • It's not the person, but the fact that you're hot-gluing a connector back on.

  • how hot glueing the connector, im hotglueing the wire from lcd

  • Uh...

What's broken off. The connector or the ribbon?

  • The thing that you close from the motherboard of the psp

  • I'm still actually confused..

The white connector where the cable connects into is disconnected from the board? Yes?

  • The black thing that you flip down when the wire is in, it is the thing ON the white thing

  • So not the connector itself, but the clip on top that holds the cable in place?

Uh.. it may work? I still kinda doubt it.

  • i just need something to hold the wire to not come out

  • dude the black screws are a bitch to get out. Is there some secret to it?

  • I'm forgetting what the black screws are.. Are they the case screws?

Uh, use a small screwdriver, press hard and turn? Don't strip the screw?

  • crappy

  • if one thing is wrong, ure PSP is broke, creepy

    wat a wast =D

  • Wrong. I fixed the problem. It's called: Go on ebay and buy the part, open the psp and fix the damn thing.

It's not that hard. My friend's LCD is broken. Instead of buying a whole new one, he can just buy a screen for 30 bucks and I'll fix it for him.

Why buy something new when you can fix it?

  • BLURRY AWESOMENESSSS!

  • Yep. It's freaking awesome.

  • awsone sauze xD

  • Lol, I remember we were recording when you got that. fist hour run i think

  • Update your firmware or most likely dump the idstorage and edit the idstoragekey0x044.bin file. You'll have to hex edit in the correct values. Pretty sure this will change what ps3 reads when it registers the device.

I am unsure of this since I just don't care enough to dump bits of the flash and hex edit things. I'll just wait for the next update.

  • Oh, and something to note guys. Your psp's mac will not update so if you have your router permit only certain macs to connect, you're going to have to figure out what the new one is. I was able to get that by disabling all protection on my router, test the connection and the mac address in the test connection screen seems to be the correct one. Enter that into your filter and it should work again.

Oh, and if you're going to use Remote Play on a ps3, you'll either have to update (next comment)

  • if i did what you did to my psp it wouldn't work anymore. Did you have any sort of guideline for this or did you do this by yourself?

  • I was looking at guides and such, but I could do it myself now.

  • Ummm....Interesting.
