fields was very energetic in this his first film for universal, considering the health of the man. w.c had been at deaths door not once,but twice prior to this film! of course as his health recovered he stepped up his drinking as was the norm for him

Absolutely no doubt about it. W.C. Fields was, and still is, the father of comedy. Despite his girth, he had incredible coordination, timing, and pure grace in his routines. He really was the personification of brilliance. RIP Mr. Fields.

...I find it interesting, but when I am down and caught up in everyday worries, these classic movies that show pure comic brilliance still make me forget and laugh my head off. I mean I hadn't seen this WC Fields' scene in many years, but it never fails to spark laughter from me...what comic timing and brilliance!
