Dirk was definitely more funky, but I would never in a million years say Ben sucks! He's one of the more talented bassists out there as far as technicality goes, and he fits great with the new direction they've gone in. SCIENCE was one of my favorite albums, and Dirk kicks ass, but I think Bens a very talented bassist as well.

Primus most certainly does have creativity, they're just riff-oriented. Kinda like Queens of the Stone Age.
If you look at direct comparison of the respective instrumentalists, Primus/RHCP win hands down. You can't just completely discount that because you don't like what avenues they've decided to travel or what they piece together when they collaborate.
Both bands are awesome, you obviously just don't have a taste for their sound. Skill-wise, both bands could play circles around Incubus (especially back during their early years). Which kind of goes to show why Incubus was influenced by them.

It get's incredibly old hearing comparisons w/ Dirk and Ben. I take most of you aren't in a band based on your ignorance of how "chemistry" works. Every single band member brings an INCREDIBLY specific sound to the band, so when you change one, a different sound emerges. Ben is not judgeable by the older "Incubus" sound, but by the sound they create with him. Theres a reason the remaining members chose Ben after Dirk, and I'm sure it wasn't for the fact he could replicate Dirk's creations.
Look, Ben tried his best on this song. Dirk definitely has him beat when it comes to funk bass, but Ben has done some good shit on that bass. This just isn't his style exactly.

Yeah, not the greatest version, but they've changed a lot since this was written, too. Also DJ Kilmore, and Ben over on bass weren't even in the band when they wrote this one. But the crazy thing is that about a year before this I was at Lollapalooza in Chicago, and my friends and I made up T-shirts that said, Take Me To Your Leader. We were in the pit and held them up. Mike saw up, and got brnadon's attention, and then they told us that they didn't know it, but they relearned. You're welcome

Wow, it's pretty fuckin nuts seeing such modern day Incubus playing Fungus material, a dream come true. Maybe Brandon's energy isn't quite like back then, but hearing them play this is completely badass.

i love incubus. i do. but in here, it's like boyd finds it hard to sing the song like he did before or his voice just changed over time. it is indeed a lot different from the record they made in the 90's. i still love them though. :)

yes, maybe it's not the best version but we have to remember that ben and kilmore weren't in the band when they wrote this song. also, they were younger and i'm sure they were too high when they wrote it hahaha. they are older now and i think their style it's softer than before so maybe when we heard this version we don´t like it as the original, which i think it was more agressive and powerful. but i still think they make the best music on the planet!!!!

Yeah, not the greatest version, but they've changed a lot since this was written, too. Also DJ Kilmore, and Ben over on bass weren't even in the band when they wrote this one. But the crazy thing is that about a year before this I was at Lollapalooza in Chicago, and my friends and I made up T-shirts that said, Take Me To Your Leader. We were in the pit and held them up. Mike saw up, and got brnadon's attention, and then they told us that they didn't know it, but they relearned. You're welcome

for the first time i am going to have to say that im disapointed with this performance by Incubus. The recorded version sounded so much better. I do like all of there other songs live though. They're still an amazing live band.

in my opinion i think their performance was not so bad. it's probably a little hard for incubus to perform their really old stuff as good as they can play their new stuff.
