  • Nice job making your wire frame... PVC pipe-- why didn't I think of that?? I use PVC pipe for everything else...! You can make larger and smaller ones for different jobs. Brilliant!

  • You know that sweet smell and taste of the fumes is seriously toxic, do it out doors. other than that woot! I love hot wiring poly foam. I'm an upholserer btw I know these things. another cheep way is with a jigsaw and a boshe rubber/foam blade or an electic meat/breadknife. oooo a band saw work good too. keep me updated.

  • cutting polyurethane or urethane foam like that with a hot wire cutter gives off toxic fumes

  • hoyly fuck....dont want to use that on a finger lol

  • Wow , I learned nothing from this video, could you post a video showing paint dry.

    Thank You

  • @gorddrog

i agree, but you forgot to record grass growing.

good luck, its a pretty hard task to do.

  • i was wondering if that type of foam gives off toxic fumes when cut is it common practice to hotwire cut that type of foam and i guess , in hind sight what type of foam are you using?

  • Good music from an awesome game.

  • can this cut EPP?

  • what kind of foam is that?

  • wow thats cool hay war do you get that foam frome ????

  • That stuff? My local fabric store, actually.

  • asome thanks 8D

  • how much power are u putting through it and how are u regulating it?

  • 32ga wire, about 10-11VDC at 1AMP. Initially I was using D-Cell batteries however I have switched over to using a regulated bench supply, it's the box with two LCD's near the end of the video.

  • Wow thats pretty cool, I've never even heard of useing those, is it pretty easy and cleaner that useing like a turkey carving knife? I'm assume cleaner by looking at the cuts you've made there, but is it easy to move around?

  • Yes, it's a little easier to move around than a carving knife, however I will mention that the cutter I made is a little large, I should build one that's a bit smaller to actually carve the features of fursuit heads. The one in the video is 10", I to make a 4" - 5" version as well.

  • you know, that hot wire foam cutter looks homemade. did you made it?

  • Yes. It is home made. Yes, I made it.

  • teach me how to make it pleeease...

i'm now making my fursuit head and using pen-knives and meat knives results in lots of time wasted and frustration.

  • I have another quick and dirty tutorial video on how to make a hotwire cutter. I will, however, say that while they're useful for quickly cutting foam and rough shaping its not as useful as I thought it might be for doing fine, detailed shaping.

Pen knives are also not a good tool to use. Go to home depot and buy a large package of utility knife/box cutter blades. I found the blades alone to be more useful than pen knives.

Good luck on your project, though!
