  • thnks so much uploader

  • @indianweera - You are most welcome, my dear friend.

  • I love this song, Mala Sinha is gorgeous.

  • Hello Yuan. This is a dream sequence song. There was another Geeta-Rafi duet in this movie "Aage aage duniya hai peechey peechey hum". I believe, this was the only movie in which Guru Dutt had Geeta sing all female songs. Other movies, GuruDutt productions such as Aar Paar, Mr. & Mrs. 55, CID, Chaudvin ka Chand, Sahib Bibi aur Ghulaam had either Shamshad Begum or Asha Bhosle. Baharein Phir Bhi Aayengi did not have a single Geeta song. All Asha songs for female actresses.

  • beautiful collection Yuan

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • Too me, this is the best Hindi film ever made (ok, a bit of an exaggeration) . I don't like this song that much not because it is not a good song but because of the character Mala Sinha. And Mala Sinha being a great actor does it so convincingly. Of course Guru Dutt is great as usual -- and what to say about Rafi and Geeta Dutt

    Thanks for the post.

  • Most welcome.

  • Reminds me of 1960's when hindi songs were broadcast only from ceylon (sreelanka)radio "binaca geethmala";and radio Goa(goa under portugese)

all india radio started hindi film music later in 1980s

  • Yes, many viewers mention that. For some reasons, those songs were not broadcast from Indian channels, may be something to do with "close economy" policy at the time or something related to that.

However, many of us Sri Lankan Hindi song lovers were fortunate and benefited by that!

  • perhaps the best picturised song in bollywood

  • Geeta's singing incomparable. Wonderful song. Guru Dutt is (was) one of favorite movie maker - outsatnding. Especially enjoyed his Pyasa, Kagaz ke phool and ofcourse the masterpiece, "Saheb Bibi aur Gulam". Thnaks for the song, Yuan.

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • Beautifully picturized by that genius called Guru Dutt. Geeta's voice is so fresh it seems she is singing just across the door!

    Kanwal

  • Guru Dutt with high ideals produced this movie that brought so many novelties. Much critical appreciation is already brought home on this song. I may conclude it as superb. Thanks for the upload.

  • You are most welcome, my friend.

  • great song....

    yes my favourite one

    thanks my friend yuna

    biswa

  • You are most welcome, Biswa.

  • stunningly beautiful

  • I might add that this was like viewing a beautiful mountain from a certain distance. It looks more inviting from that distance than when you are really close to it.

  • Insightful observation. Geeta Dutt's voice was distinctive and did not belong to the masses. A charismatic voice that refreshingly original.

  • Enough has been said about Rafi's musical genius, and a good deal about Geeta Dutt too. Speaking strictly for myself, I have always found her voice "exotic" , in the sense that she sang Hindustani songs but with a quality that put her voice not at the center of that culture but on its periphery. i don't mean " marginalization" in the negative sense but more magnetism precisely because it was remote from the center. Thus she always had my rapt attention. Thanks, Yuan.

  • Thank you my friend for your nice and descriptive comment.

  • Yuan, the translation of the title should be just " The Thirsty One" not Eternal Thirst. Pyaasa refers to the person who is thirsty not to the feeling of thirst. (Pyaas without the final vowel means thirst). So maybe you can replace the existing words with the suggested ones. Best wishes.

  • I just did that and thank you.
