Interestingly, President Obama cause a diplomatic incident when he addressed Her Majesty as the “Queen of England” at a state banquet when he was over here.

The Queen's full title is "Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland"

I wouldn't consider her long winded name "a basic fact" that the rest of the world would know. Hey, we don't expect you to know anything about Hockey.
