Nice mistake you made David. Wonderful to come across you on YouTube. Don't know why I didn't look for you before. Studio Potters are generally classed as "Crafts persons" but you both clearly show the artistry in your work. I like the idea of sculpted pieces having something to look at on all angles. I used to do a different picture on each side so the user had a choice or a change. Nice notes on the reduction and why you got different results. Kind Regards - Steve - Pittenweem Pottery
This is the old violinist in Pittsburgh Pa. Your work is just great. The glazes as well as the details on the pots make them so enjoyable to look at. I wish I had the ability to get out to one of your shows to buy something.
wow...everything you two make is so beautiful, I just saw a video of Mary doing her slip trailing on the Ceramics Daily sight, I'm going to get myself a slip trailing bottle and try it out over the summer when I'm free from school ceramic projects! Great work you two!
I have to ask, on the 4 min mark on this video, what are the colors on that plate and the one after it?! They are BEAUTIFUL!!! Also the very first plate that is shown up close. You have some lovely work and colors, thank you!
That glaze is called DC blue, I formulated this glaze, hence the name. It is a cone 10 reduction glaze. The gold color is from iron brushed over the glaze.
What a wonderful clip!! You are both so inspiring, your work is lovely and it's so pleasant watching your videos. It would be wonderful to see how you apply your glazes Mary and also to watch David's flowers being made.
Thanks so much for a great "look see" into your studio! Waiting to see what you have coming up next!
