Señores, una clase magistral de POP,una enseñanza de como hacer POP en su maxima expresion...excelsos,superlativos,magistrales ,Mark Hollis brillando en lo mas alto...!
The bass line alone is worth the price of admission, not to mention the aerial guitars, the pop sensibilities, the unique vocals. All around relevant pop song which will be around for years.
If they ever made afilm of the Mark Hollis or Talk Talk story, Tim Roth would have to play Mark Hollis. They are like twins! A great hugely underestimated band. Thank god for youtube, where we can watch and listen to their utter brilliance.
I believe that's Mark at 0:45 . I think it was 2005 when he received that award from BMI for writing "It's my life". He is friggin' 50 years old in that photo and 55 this year. Man how time flys.
READ THIS!!! Talk Talk gave us some of the best music ever produced. When you start listening to any CD, you just can't stop. The reason behind this is because their music is simply awesome! Millions of fans across the world love their music and their songs will always live in our hearts. Great music, excellent vocals, masterful songwriting. What more can you possibly ask for from any musical group? Their music is MUCH BETTER than most of the music being produced today! Talk Talk rocks!
just turned 48 years old and everytime i listen to talk talk tunes i go back 25 years great bands and musicians and song writers for me and probablay many other italians from that generation the eighties music in general was and still is the best of the last century the eighties music was just what we need to inspire our life .i think music reflect people and generations looking at today music i understand why we have this generations

Fuck EMI to hell for treating them the way they did. The stupid bastards had the goose with the golden egg and didn't even realise it. The law suits broke them up eventually.
after listening to several songs known as "New Wave" from the 80's and then listening to a cluster of "Talk Talk" I find myself feeling that they are something unique, unto themselves. Unclassifiable.
They're later stuff is definately experimental and is considered the forerunner to the Post Rock movement that bands like Tortoise and others are doing today.
omg talk talkstill blow away any of the modern band . when i first heard alk talk i thought wow .i did think about stopping mking music as i could never master a sound like that in the studio . clever guy mark hollis
Now, why should we let the current state of the music industry dictate how these guys would sound if we brought them into the limelight? Think about it. That's exactly why these guys were genius in my book. They did their own thing without giving a fuck what the record companies wanted!
@Penzaman Well thanks for the insult, I thought I was people too - I don't only need or remember hits, but I guess I don't count. Take your imbecilic philosophy elsewhere. Actually they had 3 really big hits not just one - Today, It's My Life and Life's What You Make It. Plus several more moderate hits. If It's My Life was the only big hit in the US, people outside that country couldn't give a shit about that - we remember what was happening in our own part of the world.
This band was slated to be a Duran Duran intro band in its early years, but quickly outstriped the former, which sold itself to the highest bidder. Every album I have of their's is stellar.
Seems that at an early age, Mark Hollis took a peek in others and was shocked and intrigueged, even amused, but not paralyzed by what he saw. Lucky for us his reaction was his writing and performing.

This song embodies every quality of Talk Talk which made me sort of addicted to them. They were not easy going common or consessed to the great audience and utterly selfdirected musicians: they didn't care a shit about opinions. These qualities added with the right amount of spirit was heaven for the limited number of die-hard Talk-Talk fan's(like me) They can be placed in the great hall of Yin-Yang's if there ever is one. Their musical/emotional balance was perfect in any way.

Uniqueness? Unquestionable.
Transcendent of musical genres?

toorlooo--this is brilliant! Where did you get all these wonderful photos? For a band that placed little emphasis on image, they are very naturally photogenic. I love to see Mark smile.
