pardon me for commenting before watching the whole thing. You answered my question at 2:51 , haha. And felt hammers! This is obviously pre-CBS then? Did they ever make Piano Bass models with neoprene hammers?
Pre-CBS have red tops and tan tolex. And the Piano Bass was manufactured through the seventies and had the same updates that the 73's and 88's had, so I would safely say that yes, there were Piano Basses with neoprene hammers
Oh my gosh. A 49 key Piano Bass! It sounds great!!!! Do all 49 notes have those big fat square tone bars? Also, can I just have one more moondance with you?
@Koltress Thank you! The 4 octave Piano Bass was available as a special order from the factory. A rare bird indeed. A Mk 80 is a digital piano made by Roland, and branded as a "Rhodes" as a marketing strategy. They sound nothing like a '60's (or any electro-mechanical) Rhodes.
I have a fender rhodes piano bass made in 1980, and I wonder because of the difference of those 'tonebars' from the 66 version of it which are totally different, do they have a total different sound?
And by the way, what kind of amp were you using? :D
@Koltress Ohhhh, I gotcha... Any difference in tone would be more attributed to the Raymac tines, which have a quicker attack, and less sustain. The teardrop hammers produce a different tone as well. You certainly could voice the '80 to sound similar though.
I think we ran through some sort of Peavey keyboard amp w/ a 12" speaker. Not sure of the model :/
@Koltress I like the tone of the '60's PB's... The quicker attack and decay remind me of that flat-wound sound :) Getting parts however, can be a buzz-kill!
Hey Aspartamebraintumor! Harvest Moon by Neil Young, Van Morrison's Moondance, and the last few bits are some original tunes I play with a couple local groups... that I didn't wright, but really dig

AWESOME! Was this a custom made one? You play awesomely too.
One question, does a Rhodes 80 sound a lot different from a 60s model?
