  • its not janis and she never recorded it

  • This song was composed by the great John Denver (RIP)....who also, in my opinion, sing the best version.

  • @silverdragonswow i know it was on cds but its not her. on her website it even says she never recorded it

  • How come people confuse Janis Joplin and Chantal Kreviazuk?! It's like confusing black and white! :)

  • this is Ani DeFranco best version of this song

  • LMAO! I would love to hear Janis Joplin sing this.

  • Janis never did "Leaving On A Jet Plane", Peter Paul & Mary did. Nor, did she sing "Son of a Preacher Man". (That was Dusty Springfield)

More songs that Janis never recorded:

    - The Rose (Bette Midler)

    - Entertainer (Scott Joplin)

    - She NEVER recorded with Bob Dylan, but was on the same label, Columbia

    - White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane)

    - Brand New Key (Melanie)

    - Ragtime (Again, Scott Joplin)

  • really not joplin lol tis a janis though....

  • u have a sick username perv

  • Apart from the small fact that this sounds nothing like Janis, she never recorded this song. Ever.

  • This IS Janis joplin my dear @dawgdan1 =)

  • @moriartyland47 its not Janis Joplin

  • Kool!!! Pics of Lost!!! My Aunt use to play this song for me all the time. And my fav show was Lost! Wierd!

  • WTF??!?!?! Why do so many postings on YouTube list Janis Joplin as the artist, and then have some foreign-sounding teenager singing, "All your Pags are Backed..." ??!?!? This sucks. Take Janis Joplin's name OFF this, moron.

  • i friggin miss lost :(

  • I have a CD that claims that this is the Janis Joplin version BUT it is not her style, her sound and its amazingly similar to Chantal Kreviazuk's version. Maybe Chantal was miming? I doubt it. In I would give it to Chantal Kreviazuk.

    Nice slideshow

  • Who is this? :/ Not Denver...not Joplin seriously people should just leave well enough alone and come up with their own music...awesome show though and great montage :D

  • It's Bjork, who is the daughter of Janis Joplin

  • horrible tv show

  • i love you janis.. <3

  • this isn't janis joplin, and i'm sure it's probably jewel

  • jewel?what you mean

  • i mean it's not janis joplin and it's probably jewel singing the song

  • @closerXapart It is Janis...You should check the other video same voice and same interpitation ..if Jewel sang this she couldn't have possibly copied it to the last note like Janis's

  • it's chantal kreviazuk

  • @closerXapart It`s Chantal Kreviazuk. If you doubting me, just search on : Chantal Kreviazuk - Leaving On A Jet Plane [OFFICIAL VIDEO]. The song was made as a soundtrack for the movie armageddon. And by the way; if you ever heard Janis Joplins voise before, you hear that it can`t be her. I guess that Janis J. never sang this song.

  • @closerXapart Oh I`m sorry. I did`nt see that you knew that it is`nt Janis J. I just meant that it is`nt Jewel either. I read to much comments. Guess someone have to tell the person who posted this video that this is not Janis Joplin.

  • it's PJ Harvey

  • who's singing this song (don't tell me it's joplin:))) i will not beleve it, so?)

  • i got a -1 for saying that she is not joplin? so whoever gave -1 thinks otherwise?

  • Comment removed

  • @editheraven Shit, even Janis didn't know who she was half the time...I guess that's why she was who she was. Constraints create art, freedom denies it. In my humble...

    Who's jewel. Forgive my ignorance,

    .\/,,

  • @editheraven

    it's Chantal Kreviazuk

  • Come on, no need to talk bad about him, he is just giving his opinion!

As far as the song. I think its a great cover of John Denvers original :)

  • i agree... i only watched it because the song rocks

  • This is Chantal Kreviazuk.

  • I love this song sang by anyone. well I hate it in ways too. It makes me so sad I cry everytime I hear it. Too sad to take it.

  • no that's hurley from lost

  • A cover by Chantal Kreviazuk was used in the 1998 film Armageddon and became an international hit. During the movie, A. J. Frost sings part of the song to Grace as the astronauts are leaving to board the shuttles. This four minute and 40 second-long cover version is commonly falsely attributed to Sheryl Crowe or Janis Joplin on YouTube and file-sharing networks, despite the clear post-1970 production quality (the year of Joplin's death) and the notable dissimilarities in vocal styles.

  • This is Plammy version she live in THAILAND she is cute

  • this is NOT Janis Joplin.

  • This is Chantal Kreviazuk. She's from Canada.

  • @MrDirty823 chantel kreviazuk has done this, but this is the Lisa loeb version. Of course the original written and performed by the late great john Denver.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrDirty823 this is not chantel kreviazuk , it is John Denver

  • This song isn't written by Janis Joplin - it was written by none other than the far-out John Denver, the apparently forgotten artist by most everyone. Awesome setting of the song, though!! Nice pic clips that fit perfectly to the music!!

  • This is Chantal Kreviazuk singing and the song is great and the video is lovely! Congrats.

I like specially the final scene. Really, very good.

  • This isn't Janis. UGH.

  • Who is it then ? I love this song and I want to know who sang it ... ;-)

  • "Leaving on a Jet Plane" is a song written by John Denver in 1967 during a layover at an airport in Washington and recorded by the Mitchell Trio that year. It did not become a hit until Peter, Paul and Mary released it as a single in 1969.

  • However this version is neither group I mentioned. It is not Janis, of that I am positive. Perhaps it is on the Lost webpage. Best Wishes. KJ

  • I believe this Eva Cassidy's version of Jet Plane

  • Thanks!

  • It's Chantal Kreviazuk who sings this song. It's from the Armageddon soundtrack 1998.. :)

  • this is terrible, who edited this crap?

  • non c'è bisogno di dormire per sognare ..........

  • Have you ever noticed that if you say 'hey guys' to a group of people, even if they're female, it's considered normal. But, if you say 'hey girls' to a group of boys, they'd be offended. How stupid. This has nothing to do with the vid, spam it if you like, but I had to say it somewhere and I chose here.

  • totally lush

  • Lisa Loeb- Jewel and Liz Phair.

  • i saw that this song is by janis joplin but it really doesn´t sound like her and i can´t find the song. but if you say she never sang it, Ronnie3711 and BobArthur, why there are so much wrong informations, saying this, in the internet? everywhere lyrics of "leaving on a jetplane by janis joplin"... i mean, how can so much people be wrong? :-) but I believe you that Janis never did this song!

  • does anyone know if Janis Joplin actually did this song?

  • The lyrics are by Jonh Denver and this version is

by Joni Mitchell. I'm looking for the version by

Janis, too... I don't even know if she ever recorded...

  • Yeah, I don't think that she did.

  • This version is by Chantal Kreviazuk from the film "Armageddon." I really doubt Janis Joplin recorded this, and I don't think Joni has either.

  • You're right, I didn't know Chantal... Now i'm going to search for Joni's version as well, if she recorded.... Anyway, thanks for the information!

  • She so did!!!

  • John Denver wrote ALL of the song- BOTH the lyrics and the tune.

It was written in 1966! Glad to see John's songs live on.

If you're a young person who has never heard of John Denver, google him.

He was one of THE biggest pop stars of the 1970s and a writer of some of the biggest classics of folk/country/soft rock music.

    Well worth your time,kids.

  • I looove that songs, it remembers me a summer camp I've been... deux étés merveilleux! We were always singing that song, and «Pour un instant» of Harmonium...
