  • My new favorite band. <3

  • Mars Volta : D been a faithful fan for years, Me gustan bastante la música de este groupo es como si fuera de los ángeles en el cielo!

  • Cool song!

  • oh my dear youtube, you are my best friend :D

  • It wrenches my heart when I'm reminded of Adrian and Paul's departure from the band. I just can't understand it.

  • fuck..awesome..thats all i can say..

  • the walls between us will never break

  • Did pridgeon leave the band?

  • yup, Dave Elitch is the new guy. he can play jon's songs right and he can rip like pridgen

  • @stratocastermaster2 i completely disagree. i feel like elitch is the worst thing to ever happen to this band. and that includes the death of jeremy michael ward. i hope they dont keep him around

  • I'm new and I'm really liking this band :)

  • love it.

  • very cool.

  • lol 1st pic made me laff. sweetass song

  • I cannot get the time signature on the verses! (I do music myself, but this has me perplexed). Do you know what it is? They must be joining some odd numbered measures...

  • I think it's 2 measures of 6/8, then one measure of 2/4, and another 3 measures of 6/8.

  • i think its this:

    2 measures of 3/4 + 1 measure of 2/4 + 1 measure 9/8

if you tap out the dominant beats, its like one two three, one two three, one two, one two three four five six seven eight nine - repeat. not sure if that equates to what i wrote

  • @alexhinnebusch Sounds right. This song reminds me of the 70's: Led Zeppelin and Heart. I love the drama...

  • @BestCoolGuy22 agreed

  • totally sick if you ask me...:D

  • they are fucking awsome.

  • lmao the pic

  • i like the live version, idk it just feels better, im sure others prefer this one,

well i like them both but the new years one better, maybe coz i was there..different vibe..more mystery

  • live always open you up more

  • i love the beat it makes it feel like youre in woodstock or something well at least to me

  • yea this is better

  • hahaha.... is experimental acoustic.. hahaha... damn it's not acustic at all but I love it

  • Good to see TMV is still making amazing music. I miss jon theodore though

  • so do i, he was awesome

  • i love this song

  • everytime i listen to this song i like it even more :)

  • ok this is amazing

  • Definitely the most beautiful piece of music ive heard this year

  • damn just heard about this album, fucking love these guys. deloused always be my fave tho

  • you seriously?

    ignoramus.

  • Where did you get this??

  • well it was recorded from a radio when it was first given airplay and the album just came out today so....

  • my favorite song off bedlam is a tie between goliath and ilyena, i love the groove of ilyena

  • FUCK YEAH

  • Comment removed

  • Singles do not and should not represent an entire album. For instance, if "Supermassive Black Hole" was like the rest of Black holes and Revelations i would never have listened to muse again.

  • ThANK YOU SIR

  • amen to that. first single should have been take a bow m i rite?

  • Is this on the new album?

  • Yep- i think its much longer

  • sick song

  • This might be my new favorite song from them after Goliath and Concertina

  • wait, when did Adrian and Paul leave, and why was i not informed???

  • This is my least favorite out of the bunch (the 4 released songs). It's still good, but it's a little slow. Not good slow like Televators or Twilight. Just my opinion, though.

  • From the sound of "Cotopaxi" and this, it sounds like they'll be trumping "Amputecture" and "Goliath," which is no easy feat.

  • man i heard this on sirius yesterday and i almost jizzed my pants.

  • i heard this song on the radio the other day and i almost cried. rock music has lost its way hopefully mars volta can inspire more good music and if that means going mainstream so be it!!

  • be a little careful about that statement lol, we donnt want 12 year old girls suddenly all over their dicks

  • let's all argue over shit no one cares about

  • yea man good idea hah

  • Ok...

When/if you do the washing up and the soap is still on your plates, you wash it off don't you?

You do not leave it on the drainer for the soap to run off. I have a couple of friends that do that! They must just be used to the taste of soap... I need new friends.

  • Mars Volta > Dredge

  • TMV and Dredg are going to make it a very proggie summer

  • mos def.

  • I love how people like to comment on their music. The band knows and is doing exactly what they want to be doing. And from the interviews I've seen show that they don't care what people think about them.

  • Love this band for getting me in to great music at a young age and continually pushing the boundaries while displaying unmatched musicianship. Could go on forever with reasons.

Hate this band for making every other group these days seem insignificant in comparison.

Can't wait for the new album to drop.

  • Have you tried Dream Theater?

  • Well, try listening to more of their music. If you cant stomach the idea of listening to them, you cant really base your opinion on a handful of examples.

  • true. i can't believe i got such a negative response for stating my own opinion. i even told people i was basing it on only the few examples i have heard. but from what i HAVE heard it just sounds like complexity for the sake of complexity i guess. not very creative IN MY OPINION. You "stupid dumbfucks" can eat me if you don't like what i say.

  • Don't worry man, Mars Volta fans are a sensitive bunch.

  • because they are soo gracefullly touched by the musical majesty that is...the mars volta hahah

  • they why you have so many favorites Mars Volta

  • You stupid dumbfuck. Cedric can sing way better than you so shut the fuck up. And if you haven't heard much of their stuff how the fuck can you make an accusation like that? Stupid fuckshit.

  • and what the fuck are you talking about?! i love cedrics singing! i was talking a bot dream theatre, you fuckshit (nice one)

  • howd u like the new theater?

    I think its fucking great.

  • Volta makes Dream Theater sound like hacks.. thats the old style prog that I hate so much... if your going to recomend old prog... recomend Rush

  • there not even the same kind of music!

  • cedric rules on this. omar sounds like he ran out of ideas.

  • listen to cryptomnesia.

  • Hell yee nigga that's a badass album. That song Half Kleptos goes fuckn hard. Omar really made it sound like a Volta album with the lyrics.

  • if you produced 4-5 albums a year, you would run out of ideas from time to time. but you've probably never released an album period. so who are you to criticize Omar?

  • well alright. so that's two whole songs that sound alike (but still are completely different) in their oeuvre so far, now have a look at Gwen Stefani's oeuvre.

  • Another "The Widow"... goddamn i wish they would choose better songs for singles in north america. This and the widow are nowhere near as cool as the rest of the Volta's stuff.

  • where he sings the lyric 'since we've been wrong' it sounds a LOT like 'he's got festing black lungs', especially on that live show version.

  • does omar have that spider lady laying on her back on his belt buckle??

  • yes he does

im trying to find that belt :)

  • Hands down, greatest rock group of the 21st century.

  • *concurs*

  • has the epicness of "The Widow"

  • what a great song. Can`t wait the album to come out.

  • OMG. I really love this version.

  • Gives me chills when Thomas' drums kick in..

  • knowing that this album was recorded around the time of frances it just screams so much of that frances vibe...cedric's vocals harmonie's are so on point it's rediculous...i can't rate volta albums but i have a feeling this one could take the cake

  • this album was recorded during bedlam...thats pridgen on drums

  • really?

  • hes making money playing in a badass band. he can wear whatever the fuck he wants

  • Of all things...this caught your attention enough to post? haha

  • I imagine the jams could be pretty ridiculous from these songs off the new album.

  • there goes half the mexicans

  • hahahahah :]]

  • im going to fuck the dick off this album

  • heeeeellllllll yes!

  • I can't wait for the album

  • I'm not really a fan of the verse structure, but I do like the chorus. I think Twilight is a better slow song than this one.

  • well this is much better than desperate graves and with twilight

  • TBIG*

  • so good :)

  • What's with Cedric's lyrics on this album? They seem a lot more coherent than usual.

  • lol HD

  • juste belle...

  • Also, i remember Cedrics vocals on Aberinkula were too loud and screechy on the Bedlam leak, but it was far more tolerable in full cd quality, this IS just from the radio, to be fair.

  • Well put Cubert :-)

  • I like the guitar on the chorus alot to be honest. Its not a matter of it being badly mixed, its just how omar obviously wanted it to sound - im sure after his years of producing the band he knows how to mix a guitar to sound like he wants it to!

  • My favourite part is the little guitar riff during the chorus. Just makes this song.

  • Yah, beautiful song - but I liked the live version better, without screeching guitar through chorus

  • beautiful.

  • Is John Frusciante on this record?

  • yup

  • wow, this sounds JUST like Miranda, that ghost just isn't holy anymore

  • ???What the fuck??? Youre retarded...

  • just leave, no one wants you here...

  • omars guitar sounds horrible in chorus, i hope its not a final version.

  • Your guitar sounds horrible in the chourus, BURN!

  • you guys are so fanatic, that guitar in chorus is not very well mixed, its obvious, oh and of course because i said that give me thumbs down.

  • the guitar COULD be a little quieter and maybe with a bit of comp or reverb and smoothed out but that would make it cliche and boring. Don't want to make it TOO digestible.

  • Yes, look at the page, its the Mars Volta, and if your going to say anything negative, its not going to be recieved well, ugh *common sense*

  • its not a fansite, i can comment every video. its sad that mars volta is starting to have narrowminded, fanatic fans like you, who dont get there is something like criticism.

  • yes you can, and to each is own, this song kicks ass, and i dont see how you cannot like it, but i understand that you do. I have had my fair share of critism, I hated TBOG, so i know what critism is. Im just saying if your going to say something negative about the Mars Volta, on a Mars Volta video, dont be surprised to get feedback, like i said its common sense...

  • lol@pic

  • No, not Jon Theodore, John Frusciante...

    hence the "h"

  • since weve been wrong and cotopaxi sound incredible. they're mixed more like deloused/frances.

i cant wait for this album

  • did you check out desperate graves and with twilight as my guide? there on this channel.

  • so is this the studio version?

  • Is John on Octahedron?

  • i heard they already have another 2 albums ready for release since they played this song newyears 2007 i would say thats about right

  • reminds me of 0 and 0=2 from both omar and john

  • sounds better than anything off of bedlam, thank god. sorry but that album makes me hate it out loud. this song is fucking amazing.

  • Bedlam had it's moments, but the vocal style was really weird compared to their other albums.

  • The first half of the album was good, the second half was SHIT. Cavalettas? What the hell is that? But they have more good then bad, from De-Loused to the first half of the Bedlam was a good run...

  • yea the vocals really did it in for me, too damn weird lol, its hard for me to get through that cd with vocals like that, on aberinkula i was tired of the vocals rofl, but these are awesome

  • I liked Aberinkula actually... and Metatron, and Ilyena, and Wax Simulacra, and Goliath...

  • to each his own! i agree with Ilyena, metatron, and goliath. i could really go for another DITC/FTM though lol they had alot more feeling to them. and come on! that vocal effect is just horrible rofl

  • why would you want another album that is the same shit? that's boring

  • if its amazing and i like it it wont be boring. i say dont fix whats not broken.

  • I loved FTM, and Ampetechture, De-Loused was good, and The Bedlam sucked compared to all of those lol, good, but to those it sucked...

  • no way man

  • ???

  • rofl well i was out of internet, but yea, i went back and gave the entire cd a listen, the second half of all the first songs are awesome. and the second half of the cd is just crap. so yea i agree with u imjustkidding.. and i totally take back what i said about not wanting to write anything that sounds like aberinkula, the second half of that song is among the best they have ever done. probably even better than anything on deloused xD.. i got used to the vocals 0_0 theyre fuckin awesome lol

  • i liked it a lot after i heard it was cowritten by a ougie* board lol thats pretty fucking sweet lol

  • yea thats fuckin epic lol

  • The outro breakdown/last 4 minutes of Aberinkula are incredible.

  • hell yea its fun to play too

  • why is the second half bad bro? haha. u mean after goliath? tourniquit man is shit i ll say that. but agadez, soothsayer, conjugal burns, and cavlettas are sick man. give it a chance again.

  • lol i love ouroboros and agadez, but those other songs make me look to my speakers like wtf rofl. yea i fell in love with most of the cd though. it seems like another song grows on me everyday.

  • Yeah, that song keeps me from liking every song on the album. I can't listen to it all the way through.

  • it definately wasn't their best album, but i actually do like tourniquette man. it's way slow but if you listen to it all in order, it fits perfect with the story.

  • it's a great album indeed

  • cedric looks like neo... haha

  • MARS VOLTA FOREVER!!!!!

  • can t wait for the new album!

  • If anything, this just shows TMV's versatility, and some restraint on Pridgen's part. I'm hoping that most of the album will have a minimum of voice-editing this time around. I'm looking forward to some raw singing again! And so called "purists" are really just contradicting what TMV and prog rock are about: diversity.

  • i like this, though i think the lead guitar is mixed in a bit too loudly in the first two chorus

  • Will Paul and Adrian be in the live performances for ochtaedron at least?

  • Adrian at least has confirmed that he is still playing live, i think he will play also in the Octa ones

  • Yeah, otherwise they will have a hard time playing all the old songs with the woodwind parts. Im sure they will stick around touring.

  • I am pumped for a mellow album... maybe I can keep up and play along, for once.

Can't wait for this one. Almost as pumped as a few weeks before TBIG, but there is plenty of time for it to grow.

    Thanks for posting this!

  • most honestly it is more mellow then i thought it would be.. but that doesnt have to be a bad thing.. im still really stoked for the album.. the thing that shocks me most is theres only 300 views and i know that theres probably half a million people who have been waiting weeks if not months to hear this

  • wooo!

  • yes! I've been waiting to listen to the full length studio version. I can't wait for this album. This song is so fragile and cryptic at the same time, I love it. Stop the negativity everyone, be supportive.

  • Haters, purists, whatever you want to be, speak for yourselves.

Personally, I think each album they've produced has been better than the last. I'm a little sad that the lineup is condensed for this new release but of course I'm optimistic. Also, following Bedlam.. is a really tall order but then again i said the same thing about Amputechture.

I think it's an awesome song and I can't wait for the album.

  • if your not constantly switching things up, your doing something wrong. nobody wants to listen to the same stuff all over again. they have such a rich, diverse sound. Its what separates the sell outs from the true musicians.

  • Absolutely agree 1 out of 1000 other fans who understands TMV.

  • finally!
