This short is very clever because it's told like a love story--yet the actions are anything but!

Funny story, Flora has the best evil smile I've ever seen, but one thing confuses me: Why did Ronny become destitute? They should have added a part where Flora cheats Ronny out of everything he owns, then it would have made more sense.

It's like a tragic love story. Only there's no love.

One of Columbia's best... although the "poison" line at 3:57 - 4:07 isn't really in the same style as the rest of the narration, is it?

This was the only Columbia cartoon scored by Lantz musical director Darrell Calker to my knowledge.

Well, not "the only cartoon", but a good part from 1945 until the studio shutdown- and what wonderful score!
"I know what you're thinking. Why do I seek self-destruction? Well, mine is familiar story... perhaps you'd like to hear it..."
Arguably the most gruelling intro to a cartoons ever made.
