Gandhi had become obsessed with chastity, as well as how to control his potent urges – and his experiments in self-restraint were quite extraordinary.
Gandhi is an absolutely amazing individual. Apart from being an ascended master of the world, he has brought about the satyagraha, which is the idea of nonviolence. In his journey through life he inspired many, and his spirit still lives on today. May this pride of India and of Asia as a whole, live on forever. I believe that Gandhi managed, as so few have, to see the underlying truth to all beliefs and religions.
In this he came to the conclusion:
God is Truth, Truth is God.
And there is truth in each belief. We get too caught up in the rules and regulations of such faiths, the do's and do not's, that we fail to truly see the compassion and love in each belief.
one of the greatest persons ever lived, I would love to have a true leader like this as my leader in Denmark. A true leader, instead of those driven by greed and power.
gandhiji where are you now, we need you more than ever
What Gandhi asked the world was to be tolerent. After all this development and modernization that we claim to have achieved, we are still a primitive species, who kills its own species and tries to believe that their own, what they call "relegion" is true and "real" than the other. When will we grow to a level to accept that everyone wants to be good and to do good. No religion preaches killings.. its people who interpret the elegion or enrage others by exploiting for selfish or economic gain
Thank you, so much, for sharing and the text with it. Honor the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, and all the people, who stood up in non-violence, 60 years ago, in Leipzig.
I feel so lucky to hear his voice, I feel so peaceful just to think about this Human, and I feel so bless to able to tell his story to my children about "Mahatma Gandhi", The Father Of The Nation".His name will live in my heart as long as I live on this earth and pass on to the younger generation. MAHATMA GANGHI, OUR FATHER OF OUR NATION.
A truly great human being, the kind of person that is all far too uncommon throughout history. Unfortunately history is filled with warmongers and evildoers, even today there are far too many men who divert from the path of compassion. Gandhi is a rare jewel, a grain of sand in the desert of humanity.
Gandhi followed Hindu Principles throughout his life, Admired Mohammad and his religion Islam & merged a few concepts of Christianity into his concept of "Satyagraha". He believed in all Humanity to live in peacefully together.
Thats power, to get an evil, imperialistic power to walk out of your country willingly. That dwarfs the power of the atomic bomb. It should give heart to all the willful good people out there to keep struggling.

Okay, considering that this "pussy" had the guts to follow his morals and principles and had the GUTS to not fight back, even in the face of violence and massacre, he is in no way a pussy. Watch the movie, and you will see how much of an influence he had not only in India, but in South Africa as well.
British were theives and thugs, they plundered subcontinents wealth killed hundreds of million of people(eg jalianwalla bagh). In what way can you do peaceful opposition. Can you give an example. They came to subcotinent of their own will and left on their own.
Basically he used the fact that the Indians far outnumbered the British. He led the Indians to break laws prohibiting the production of salt without paying tax to the British, or to boycott British goods and institutions. Mainly he was able to unite the country in opposition to the British, and there was no way colonial rule could survive a united opposition. Violence wan't necessary--the sheer numbers won out.
And how might you explain that millions bowed to him and made so many sacrifices because they thought he was selfish? they wanted what he wanted, to get their home back
so what if he was selfish man??if because of his "selfishness" can bring his country to freedom that noble.Gandhi didnt talk shit.he talk about great things that people today should learn and practice, especially about violence.

I am a bhuddist. Al the same, I find that this video was not a waste of time in the least. It is a beautiful speach and puts a whole different look on the religions that praise a god. 5 stars.
Gandhi looked ugly on top of this he wore very little clothes and went doing cat walks all over the world.People tease Indians Oh look Gandhi! It's humiliating.Gandhi did have qualities but he was very conservative and cunning and predended to be a saint!
To add further he laid the foundation for world's biggest democracy, brought freedom to 1/6th of humanity and that too without any blood shed or killings, and that's why he stands taller than perhaps any other leader in human history. albert einstein once said for gandhi that future generations would never believe that somebody like gandhi walked on this earth.
my friends who are calling him a politician should know that he never held any seat of power despite the fact that he was greatest and the biggest leader of 1/6th of humanity. Can one imagine what it means to be the leader of 1/6th of humanity and still he didn't went for any seat of power, or luxuries of life for him or his family that alone explains the greatness of mahatma gandhi.
Bescheidenheit ist eine Tugend (modesty is a vice) that's what we say in Germany, but I don't know a single person who lives up to that concept of vice half as much as Gandhi did.
Ideas of historical figures and how great their countries are. In comparasion to Europe both India and Pakistan treat their poor very badly and caste and tribal discrimination can only be escaped through economic advancement not by converting from one religion to another and carry on receiving inferior treatment.
politician and a great actor in garb of a saint. Most Indians and many Westerns easily fall into the trap of clever thinkers like Gandhi. The division of India which was the result of power struggle between conservative
rich and educated Hindu and Muslim leaders resulted in slauter of 1 millon people and biggest single migration in history proving the shallowness of these people as well as English rulers like Mountbatton !!!!!!!!!!!
How can you talk about something so much knowing so little! Gandhi was not a politicien, he encouraged his country to be independant economically, he embraced every religion, would always sleep in the untouchables (the pourest people) zone, thought he was a very cultured man. He fought all his life what you call the caste and tribal discrimination. Go do you homeworks...
Yes. In mist of untruths, Truth persists. Truth is beyond our constraints, knowledge, creed, caste, religion. One must overcome all that to see and understand, follow Truth. This is a must for everyone as our actions are interpreted in the context of Truth only not in the context of our circumstances, traditions or what ever. They are created by humans and the Truth by God.
Why you look at only that incident? If it is more comfortable to you, then think that Gandhi is peace loving after 1907. Fine with you? The only thing we can do regarding to Great Souls is to digest the facts and their messages and leave the rest. Because we may not be in a position to interpret them perfectly for the lack of proper reasoning or information.

This is a good video. Gandhi was very set on his beliefs and he had great faith. He changed his life to show how willing he was to make a change. A great man, he should be admired by more. Funny looking guy though!
God is the unkown myth we all seek to find. aint that the truth. The wisdom of Ghandi the powerful thinker, have great respect for Ghandi, so simple in look, so rich in his brain. those who passes and go with such wisdom, had that powerful deep vision, thinkers.
l had one point didnt beleive in god as a child l know that there is a higer power whoever or what ever l have been taught l can only be judged by one and that isnt anyone who lives on this earth,
Wow! I've been wanting to hear some of his thoughts on spirituality. And this clip really satisfied me. I like how he says at the end that faith transends reason; thats hard to get through to people who want to demand that you believe a certain way.
interesting - btw has anyone checked out new film promos for Gandhi My Father?? apparently Gandhi's eldest son converted to Islam?? critics saying its the best film of 2007
Ghandiiiii! I've recently fell in love with his character, i've known about him for a long time, but now, i guess i have gotten to know more about him. A great soul indeed.
Here's the funny thing: you can postulate about a universal ruler creating and controlling all you want. The simple truth still remains - no intellectualizing of God ever says, "one particular religion must be right" and that's where atheism is founded. True, you can be a deist AND an atheist, but I hold firm to the idea that a "God-ful" universe would be a very different one from the one we live in.
If any one has 'vaishnava janato' and/or 'ragupati ragava rajaram' songs. please post a message I will reply with my email. Its for making another video.

Only those who recognize the truth of Martin Luther-King's words can know of the one who inspired him.
As too: Only those who recognize the truth of Mahatma Gandhi's words can know of the one who inspired him.
And: Only those who recognize the truth of Christ's words can know of the Father who sent him.
For the one who inspires the lives of Luther-King Jr and Mahatma, is also the Father that sent Christ and is called "Truth"

His belief for to react with no violence, your comment is not as so, as passionate as you are, it is a positive energy without the language.
You have beautiful beliefs in Gandhi language aside.

The actual truth about Gandhi is hidden just like any comments which tells a little bit of his true side.

I am a bhuddist. Al the same, I find that this video was not a waste of time in the least. It is a beautiful speach and puts a whole different look on the religions that praise a god. 5 stars.

To add further he laid the foundation for world's biggest democracy, brought freedom to 1/6th of humanity and that too without any blood shed or killings, and that's why he stands taller than perhaps any other leader in human history. albert einstein once said for gandhi that future generations would never believe that somebody like gandhi walked on this earth.
jj2708 4 years ago 5
my friends who are calling him a politician should know that he never held any seat of power despite the fact that he was greatest and the biggest leader of 1/6th of humanity. Can one imagine what it means to be the leader of 1/6th of humanity and still he didn't went for any seat of power, or luxuries of life for him or his family that alone explains the greatness of mahatma gandhi.
jj2708 4 years ago 2
Bescheidenheit ist eine Tugend (modesty is a vice) that's what we say in Germany, but I don't know a single person who lives up to that concept of vice half as much as Gandhi did.

People get carried away with over romanticised
Ideas of historical figures and how great their countries are. In comparasion to Europe both India and Pakistan treat their poor very badly and caste and tribal discrimination can only be escaped through economic advancement not by converting from one religion to another and carry on receiving inferior treatment.

i like your home page, i can see why u dont understand what gandhi is about. ignorance is bliss some say, but in ur case... misery

Gandhi was a very consevative Hindu a cunning
politician and a great actor in garb of a saint.

Wow! I've been wanting to hear some of his thoughts on spirituality. And this clip really satisfied me. I like how he says at the end that faith transends reason; thats hard to get through to people who want to demand that you believe a certain way.
