If I could pick just one thing from Harry Potter to win an Academy award, it would definitely be the music. Just listening to it without watching the movie gives me extreme goosebumps, in all reality it was the music that made me sob uncontrollably during the premiere. Thank you, Desplat. Thank you.

I swear that part at 1:04 is brilliant. Whenever I'll hear songs with flutes making those fluctuations, going up and down, I will always think of HP. In some way, it's kind of an audio symbol of the series. The celesta and those rapid flutes. It really gives magic to the movie.

What we have there, my friend, is one of the many nods to Hedwig's theme from the first movie (I think, I'm not so well-versed with the music and titles). It's all over the soundtrack, repeatedly bringing us back down memory lane to the first film - gives me the chills every time.

I'm actually hunting through the whole soundrack right now, before getting the CD, trying to spot all the times Hedwig's theme or Lily's theme is alluded. It's a brill way to honour the first score :)

I absolutely love this piece. I had a massive grin when it started in the movie, and it's brilliant when Harry discovers the Diadem at 1:04. It's amazing, it's as if all the history of Rowena Ravenclaw has been condensed into this short motif and it fits phenomenally, almost exploding out and overwhelming us with it's beauty and poignancy.

@brownniggaz Do you think Alexandre Desplat thought "Just making a song" when picking each instrument and deciding on every single note, delicately tweaking it for weeks and weeks? Doubt it. Make of it what you will, but don't tell people who are enthusiastic about it to "chill out". Music is an art, and as such is very subjective. This is my opinion, if you disagree with it then great, good for you, but I can express my opinion however and whenever I like.
