I saw him play the Brahms violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 77 with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra on Feb. 19th, 2011 and he was even better than in this video. He literally burned up the violin. His whole performance was magnificent. That was a performance that should have been recorded and sold on a record label. I feel blessed to have heard him live.
He came to my school and I played for him in a master class...he has much insight to give to any violinist..He comes to Augusta Georgia all the time! My hometown!
This kind of playing belongs to the class of Great Violinists. The fact that he doesn't seem very well-known apparently indicates something very wrong with the music industry today. Sigh.
What tone, musicality, control.... just magnificent.
