i ve a question if theres no air in space and you go out to fix a broken sattalite or somten then thered be no air in the ship how you breathing without a suit
@wassup986 You know when you have quite some speed and u turn your car to the left or right? you are pushed in the opposide dirrection.. same thing with the water.. and it happens even if there is no gravity.
Another exemple is when you try to catch an object that is in the water, with a big net. :P hope that made you understand.
@googlelover91 Yes, but why can't he just jerk it forward and back once real quick to get the water out? He tilts, as though he's trying to pour something out.
@mehmetursan The nationality of the parents, I assume. But what if the parents are of two different nationalities, which nationality would the baby possess?
@mehmetursan Or maybe wherever you touchdown on first. if you give birth to the child in space and land in russia maybe the child would be counted as a russian.
Also great is mention of UNICEF foundation and the importance of clean water to developing nations. How appropriate that scientists ---people committed to discovery, learning, truth--- are also committed to noble causes that help all humanity.
@SamsStation LOL I feel heavy after just 3 hours in the sea. When I walk out of the sea onto the beach I feel like I'm twice my weight. Imagine being in zero gravity for a week. You would feel like you weigh a ton when you're back to earth.
5 year old kids in Flanders have less of an accent. Like I said, it has nothing to do with his capabilities as a scientist or astronaut, but I'm simply amazed how every serious well known person from flanders seems to fail at speaking decent english. eg. the new european president
Congratulations on your tenure as ISS commander and good luck for your return trip to Earth in the Soyuz! I hope you won't find it too cold in Kazakhstan when you land.
I have just one question - how do you put up with the bad tempered and bossy Jeff Williams who seems to have bullied you into giving up your command earlier than expected. He plays Mr Nice Guy but the NASA videos show him to be Mr Grumpy.
Doesn't seem likely. Cohesion and surface tension would make sweat bead as surely as it does with gravity. Liquids still bead on the top of surfaces, so the lack of gravity in space wouldn't prevent beading.
True enough. Surface tension does cause it to gather and eventually form a "Blob" which will break up. But you need a lot of sweat for this to happen. And they do usually dab themselves with towels. I Watched a programme on BBC 4 about living in space and they talked about it on there.
So if they lift weights (resistance rubber bands or compressed gas) and stuff it gets transferred to the structure and is bad for it? WOW, I never thought of that. You would think it would be strong enough to easily withstand the force a human being can create.
I don't think he meant bad for the structure. More like it's bad for the balance of the craft and the orbit. And for the experients. It's like when you sit on an office chair and lift you feet from the ground. If you then start turning and moving your body, the chair will respond. It will get disturbed. That is what he meant, I think:) The station itself I'm sure can withstand the forces of a human being, structurally...
Yes. Any force on the structure of the ISS effects its position. If he was to push as hard as he could he would actually push the ISS out of position quite easily. Not by much but a needless amount.
Rations of hygiene products is alright but so little water seems like it sux. :| It takes me 35 minutes to shower because of how oily my skin is. I can't even imagine living on the ISS like that. Can't they send a space shuttle carrying a module that can hold and maintain temperature of 40,000 gallons of fresh water? or how about 70,000 gallons of filtered seawater just for cleaning. :|
how about showing (and explaining) what they do up there for science, rather than show the most trivial things such as brushing your teeth??? geee....

Gah, I can't believe this guy is actually Flemish and speaks englisch with uch a heavy accent. I actually feel ashamed for this man representing us (even though his accent doesn't have anything to do with his capabilities as an astronaut and scientist)
He said it's dangerous to have water float away because of all the electricity on the ISS....yet, multiple times, 2:55, 3:07, 3:15, you can see droplets that he let escape drifting around...lol. oops!
The hygiene part reminded me my military camps...wake up -> a handful of water from the dense morning grass -> over the face and kinda done with the washing... :)
If I ever go to space, 50% of my time will be dedicated to playing with waterbubbles. 30% of my time will be trying to make an object stay fixed in midair. 19% of my time will be freaking out of poop chasing me throug the bathroom, and 1% of my time will be eating. (playing with water and eating should be possible to do at the same time. :D)
They say they dont have much water. Would it be possible to have a extremeley long hose leading to the space station and that would help?

Sweat in space actually forms as a layer of liquid on the skin. With no gravity to pull beads of it down it just stays on the skin as a thin layer.
