Gorman is the man! Any mortal would have to be intimidated to play drums behind Page on this song. Gorman plays it with absolute authority. The drum mix is way out front, not like the Black Crowes drum mix. Power, authority and rock solid, awsome drumming. I didn't think he had it in him. Boy was I wrong!
What a magickal show it was!!!! I saw them at the Creek, in Raleigh. They had to drag me to the car after the last encore. I still got my book, tho man!
Went to the Oct. 19, 1999 at the Greek. Best show ever seen. Gorman killed it. My favorite drummer since. This was the best show of the nite. First row out of the pit, sitting next to Randy Johnson (theUnit). after the show Jimmy grabbed the mic and graciously thanked everyone and said "this is for you". He was stoked to have the young crowes back him up on the Zep power songs in a class way.
Gorman is soooo good. He just KILLS this. Whole band is on and Page is just eating it up. Helps that the guitars cover all Page's studio overdubs. Really fat sound that just wasn't there with Zep live. Chris Robinson is really credible too. Pretty sure Plant wouldn't have the range or stamina to hold up these days.
Really awesome drumming by Steve Gorman. A big part of Zeppelin's greatness was Bonzo's drumming, so for Gorman to make it look so effortless is is just incredible. At 6:50 min....ROCK'N'ROOOOOOOLLLLL!!!
Jimmy could of at least thrown on more than his jogging sweater...it looks as tho hes just come outta the gym...lol..and by the way this drummer does an incredible job..awesome in fact..bonzo would be appluading i think.
@JimmyPagesBIGESTFan... I agree, I grew up im Georgia, and was a big Zeppelin fan since I was like 13. The Black Crowes were a somewhat local band. I was thinking the other day of how much they remind me of Zeppelin, after all these years, and listening to other bands. I was thinking the same thing of how Chris reminds me of Plant. I love both bands! They are down home pure intelligent warm hard rockers.
To anybody that doesn't like this. I would like someone to throw that person off a high cliff. Then I want Superman to come along and scoop that person up and drop them from a higher distance. That's how much I would hate that person.
I can't express in words the feelings hearing to this, this is just too fucking extremely master piece! I just with I could ever watch a live concert from Led Zeppelin.
@BRUTUSPLAC great to know my friend, gonna look for it! I just love Led Zeppelin too damn much, and in my opinion Black Crowes does a really really good work, pity that they went for an hiatus.
You said it. I never thought there could be another drummer to play this like Bonham, but this drummer does not miss a beat and is fantastic. Plays about just as hard as Bonham also. Great stuff.
@larstheguitarguy you think its just his clothes? its his clothes, his hair that is cut, his weight that he gained, the shirt that he is not wearing open. I MISSSS THE OLD TIMES. jimmy page is hawwwwwwwt
Page and the crowes make a great combination. Dunno why I never heard that they did this. Really great job doing one of my favorite all time Zep songs. It seems like a natural fit.
@Torchnpitchfork Bro I was at this show in NYC I couldn`t get the smile off my face for a month I`ve been to well over 200 concerts this made the top 5
just do a zep tour with this singer what the hell is the problem ..let plant make shitty music . he cant sing zep songs anymore ..thats what plants problem is!!!
@zappahart His music now-a-days isn't necessarily bad, it's just different. Folk music is a little different than zeppelin. Also he still sings zeppelin songs in concert well... Finally, is it really zeppelin without robert plant on vocals. It's like going to see the Jimi Hendrix Experience with like John Mayer on guitar.
@lynyrdskynyrd329 you r right about the different thing. i really like folk music but it has to be (old folk music) like the early 60,s i actually bought the last cd with allison . it was ok but since i posted i heard 1 song from boj ...it was pretty good but like most zep fans i yearn for a reunion tour not to go to it (too expencive) but i would buy the cd and dvd!!!
This is a really good version. Well, well, well. Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed. Well, well, well. Looks like someone forgot to credit the composer again. They seem to like Blind Willie Johnson's work a lot. I just wish they had credited him. Well, well, well...
@MyMoppet52y I agree man. I cant find anything with them commenting on that crap. I would love to hear what Jimmy or Robert have to say about that. Have you ever read or seen an interview ab it?
@RisingSon011 I was just putting the "well, well, well's" in my comment like Page did in his song. IN THE EXACT SAME PLACES Blind Willie Johnson said, "well, well, well". I mean Zep could have at least put some word in besides "well" & not in the EXACT same place. Then had the nerve to list "Page and Plant" as the writers! I loved Zep & still do. I've lost lots of respect for them though. Well, well, well. Give Blind Willie Johnson's version a listen! Like theirs. Only 79 years earlier!
What a cracking version. Jimmy is grinning and obviously enjoying himself, The Crowes are ace as usual, but extra special points to the drummer!. By heck he is playing that kit like a man possessed. Great to see a bunch of top musicians on form and having fun.
@needlessbanter - Those 4 people probably can't stand that it's not Robert Plant on lead vocals. They are probably incapable of interpreting this cover on its own merit. The Black Crowes (musically) helped Page absolutely NAIL this song. But, because it's not Plant up there... they can't get over it.... or they are just blatent idiots.

Boy that man could belt it out...what a damned voice.

Marriott was the man. I remember hearing a story from my Uncle, in which he saw Marriott perform and his mic went out..well good ole Steve never stopped singing and he could still hear him over everything.
Boy that man could belt it out...what a damned voice.
