  • if i had 1 dollar for every pixel, i would have 1 dollar.

  • Interestingly, the C64's inbuilt OS was a Microsoft one.

  • actually, the first version of Commodore Basic was microsoft, but later builds was entirely Commodores own.

Commodore sure fooled Gates with that deal.

  • The problem stems from modern PCs being sold as appliances. Obviously people like your dad, who would expect everything to be as simple as the ads claim, will want one.

Then, when even simple things go wrong, they're encouraged to junk the machine and begin again. Simple things like a full or fragmented hard disk is enough to consign a PC to the junk pile.

Still, good for me as I now have a pile of good PCs bought cheaply.

  • No, not every windows user is that dumb. But look at the most basic average user. It made it so easy for them to use, and yet they STILL CAN'T handle it.

To run the C64 you actually had to have some knowledge to actually run the machine. Now it's all point and click.

  • Awesome! Windows made "users" stupid! All my friend are that stupid cockstains that cannot even run a game/app on a C64!

  • To the people bashing it because it's "SO Hard to use", wow you might have to LEARN something for once, instead of pushing the mouse button and it's all done for you thanks to Microsoft.

It's made computer users stupider, easier to use, but stupider because now they don't have to learn anything.

Then they bitch when something goes wrong and they don't know how to fix it, because they were too lazy to learn how to run a computer properly.

  • umm, not everyone who uses windows is like that

  • @snake2006 I've learned a lot through the Linux command line. Now I can do simple web browsing on the command line LOL.

  • Wow, this commercial takes me back. I think this was around 1988. Catchy song!

Of course, nobody was dumb enough to want a C64 just for games, what with the plentiful bounty of titles for Atari, Sega and the NES.

  • @Down10 Well, you have to pay a lot of bucks to buy game cartridges, but for the C64 there was lots of pirated games around, more than you could ever play. ;)

  • I still own the 64c & 1541c, etc I purchased 20+ years ago. $1500 for everything - including a 14-inch color monitor and printer. Fun times!

  • so was the commadore64 a dos command computer?

  • No, it's have got a BASIC interpreter :P

  • I've got a Commodore 64c and I think it's a more popular computer than old C64.

  • The ad does not show the c-64C, it shows the original c-64 design.

  • See this C=64 build, it's C=64 C!!!

  • ~awesome! 5 stars!

  • LOAD"*",8,9

i got mine back in 1986... unbelievable how computers are 20 years later... no comparison :)

  • I would trully hate to go and use those computers back in those days. Things started to get easier when windows 3.1 or was it 3.0 came out. Yup no comparrison!!!

  • Now cheapest mobile phone is more powerful, But in those days some people considered 16MB would be enough to make AI that could talk with user :P

  • YAY I wanna buy one! lol
