I see you punched through class A airspace...which is awesome by the way. Do you have some sort of waiver from the local FSDO to allow you to do that?
Great videos...keep them coming!
ps - I am jealous you got to drive a Ferrari...that is one item on my bucket list.
@bviv Nope. Sounds like fun though. I got a small taste of soaring a couple of years ago at Hemet Airport here in southern CA. But the geniuses at Riverside County shut down the operation...even though they had no right to. The airport was receiving Federal funding. Slight oversight. Needless to say the operation moved out before this was publicly known. Oh well...maybe some day the operation will return.
@909kick My GPS altitude shows above 18k but if you look at the altimeter, it clearly shown at 4:14 I never went above and the difference between the instruments. My GPS altitude in this glider always showed between 500-800 ft. higher than my pressure altitude. It took an aggressive push down but it worked. Check again. I would not be posting busting Class A on youtube. Since I have a transponder I have always been real careful to stay below. Bruno
@starozy If I said miles I wasn't thinking. km's is correct. :) The little device is a collision avoidance system to keep me away from the big jets flying around my area. Take care, Bruno
Bruno... thank's for another great video. Small question: there is a double beep at 0:25. This double beep occurs at various times on your videos, but I don't recognize the tone. Is that from your Mountain High? Something else? Thanks!
@marc8243 That way my SeeYou Mobile glider program telling me that I was not centered in the thermal because I was too busy being distracted trying to video and talk. :) Thanks for watching and your interest. Bruno
Hi, I am interested in flying and I think I will probably either get my start with gliding or ultralights. I am sorry for asking, but are you on oxygen or is it necissary due to high altitudes?
@thepilotboy :) Funny question. No - While I look like an old man the oxygen is because out here in Utah we fly long times above 12,000 ft and we are required to use oxygen at those altitudes.
Nice video and nice image quality.I'm very jealous of the very high altitude clouds and strong thermals :-) (in my country clouds arround 2000 m and thermals max 5 m/s).Good luck!
Im 57 now , when I was 30 I did my gold distance but never declared it ! doh! just wish we had this technology , wow! and whent to 20000 ft with no oxygen, no chute, no radio, no cell phone, wood and fabric glider, a k8, no warm clothing, no sat nav, no drink bottle hmmmm , just a yaw string, alt , vary , asi, lol! , still got gold hieght cuz had a baragraph , wow!
hello atreewithnolife, it is still fun today to fly the wooden stuff beside of the modern sailplanes - actually it is real flying without the modern technology ..
Hi Paul - My Kodak camera broke (after one of my flights the lens would not retract) so this video was taken with the DXG.
I found that the DXG also gives a slightly better final picture quality than the Kodak after using editing software to improve colors - go figure. I am sure that there are tons of much better HD cameras out the but at under $60 the DXG does a good enough job.

@909kick As for the Ferrari, it was just a complete blast. :) Are you going to the soaring convention in Reno early February this year? Bruno

You stated 500 mile course in audio, but description is 500 km. km is correct?
What is the device on mounted on top of the instrument panel? Looks like a radar detector :)

MrTumnus8896 1 year ago
@MrTumnus8896 Ground level is around 5000ft in the vallleys and the mountains go up to around 12,000. Utah is amazing to fly over.

Just glue on a wide angle lens right onto the camera lens housing. It works! Just be prepared when your wife sees what you did to her camera... ;)

Nice video! I see from your web site that you use both a Kodak Z1285 (in the cockpit) and a DXG-567V. Was this video taken with the Kodak?
