@hairysaccs as karoberts1971 was saying "don't go in unless you are trained to properly do a cavern or a cave dive". Just because you CAN do something, it does not mean you SHOULD do something. The ballrom is an OVERHEAD environment and as such, you need to be specially trained fot that type of diving. from a safety standpoint, if you have a problem you would not be able to do a CESA (controlled emergency swimming ascent) there. stay out of places that you are not trained to go into.
First off, the ballroom is cavern and only gets to a depth of only 50ft at the grate. Secondly, don't go in unless you are trained to properly do a cavern or a cave dive. Stupid people get hurt and then ruin the fun for those of us that know what we're doing.
I absolutely love diving in the ballroom! I've only dove there once though, and that was for my open water certification. I think that it is absolutely amazing and beautiful in the cavern. Very nice dive!! Thanks for posting the video!
I did a dive in the ballroom before and was sent to the hospital. i got caught on the roof were it narrows out and it cut my air supply off from my regulator, it sucked but i loved the dive.
jimwalters3..The Ginnie Ballroom is a cavern. It was a cave that they gated off decades ago due to multiple deaths because of alot of silt and low ceilings.
suprised they have life in that cave @ 9:24 its very cold... there arent that many fish in ginnie springs last time i was there i saw a few fish at the mouth of the cave
wow i was curious to see what was in the caverns where all the divers were going into to. beautiful. i went snorkling there a few days ago and it was beautiful im getting certified soon and will go back and scuba
Great place to dive and great fun. You need a wetsuit. I don't care what anybody says, 72 degrees is cold. And if you camp ... don't sleep on the ground. Or swim in the Santa fe at night.
Last time I was there, took a walk on the river about 10 PM. Gators everywhere. I don't know if they come up into the park area but it was enough to get me sleeping in the truck.
I have tent camped at Ginnie several times; never saw any gators, but the squirrels are vicious!

Did your Open Water Friend do good with the tight spaces? Claustrophobia is a factor for some.

jim 3 whatever better shut up before his personal information is given out.
His address, social security # and everything else

Obviously MrJimbo008 is emotionally underdeveloped as he doesn't understand caverns or my sensitivities as a poster.

anyone who would ask if thats a cave is a moron

just a question..what kind of camera and lighting system did you use to film this?..because its excellent quality
stupcat92 2 years ago
I used a Sony TVR-250 in an Ikelite housing. The lighting is a Salvo 21w HID light with a video reflector.

Whats wrong with diving at night or sleeping on the ground? Every time i've been I did a night dive in the river and slept on the ground.

Out of all the videos of ginne springs, this one captures the most of what the ballroom has to offer!
